LABOUR OF LOVE
-2022” is a historical account of the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) in Capricornia. Arlene said in 2018 she suggested that the history of the Capricornia Division be written as a promotional tool and to commemorate the 100 years of QCWA. Arlene, who has been a member of the Mount Morgan Branch of the QCWA for almost 30 years, considers the research, the writing and publication of the book to be her greatest written achievement. Arlene first started writing 36 years ago to help cope with the loss of losing her father 36 years ago. “Writing really helped me with this loss,” she said. Arlene has published 16 small books and has recently finished writing another small poetry book.

“I have written a biography about my dad, who died of asbestos cancer, a short story about a girl who grows up in the country, a series of short stories about Australian animals (this was for my children), poetry books and a small history book about the Mount Morgan QCWA Branch,” she said.
