MOVA Fitness Magazine After a trip overseas and lots of plans for year to come I have finally settled into my daily routine.

This is going to be a very exciting and big year for me. I have committed to so many goals and I’m determined to accomplish them all! This year my goals are long term achievements as well as daily gaols too. Enrolment at University, competition in September (Tough mudder events and preparing Mova Team 2013 for the series), as well as other events and goals to accomplish. For me goals are so important, plans are a must and their accomplishment the only option. But if you ask what I wish for is another story. I wish all my readers, fans, friends and family all the success and happiness possible! Starting with us and our own development and drive to be better I also wish this year people were nicer and kinder, I wish there were no wars, no racism and no aggression. I wish families loved each other more and appreciated each other and lovers didn’t take each other for granted. I wish babies had everything they need,

there is no poverty, kids got the best they could, mothers were the happiest people on the planet, and men felt content and successful.

I wish politicians were honest, companies were not greedy, athletes were fair and supportive of each other. I wish friends were more caring and we lived in a better world. I wish...and maybe my wish can come true...And to all the readers of MOVA Fitness magazine I wish magnificent year to come with accomplished goals, contentment and stay fitter and healthier than ever. Truly hope this magazine can contribute to one of the most important aspects of life- Health and Well being as well as exposure to those who work so hard and accomplish so much within the fitness industry.

Are you Tough Enough?

The very first event from the International Tough Mudder series for this year was held in Melbourne Phillip Island over the weekend 19th- 20th January 2013. The event covers 18-20 km obstacle course with 22 obstacles and is one of the hardest events they claim. Participants from all Australia battled to cross the finish line and get to the showers after the muddy experience. We congratulate for the courage every one who took part at this event and is planning to compete in the future. Mova Team 2013 is taking part in September Phillip island Melbourne event.

INBA Australia-Fred Liberatore comes onboard today as the Victorian MC for Victoria 2013. For those of you who may not know, Fred he has been a Pioneer in the sport of transforming bodies as a Muscle Up coach for MAX’S and he runs his own successful Personal Training Studio in the suburb of Prahran Realfit Personal Training. Fred will be a great addition to our INBA family says Tony Lanciano INBA Australian and Vic president. “It is an absolute honour to be asked to be the Master of Ceremonies at Victoria INBA shows. I think the perfect Mc will make people feel that they have had a great time and that’s what I certainly want to achieve” Fred said today.

I am advising you need professional photos for your further success. As competitor and model I know how important is to have professional photos taken for your further promotion in the industry!

If you take time to read this article you will save yourself some regret on that missed photoshoot you didn’t book!

There are a lot of photographers out there, and sometimes it might be hard to choose who you want to work with and to decide why you need to have professional photos taken at all. But before you think that you don’t need any professional photos taken, read the article below.

There are few reasons as to why you can benefit and you might need, without even knowing, professional photos.

Here it goes: If you are fitness/figure/sports or bodybuilding competitor or athlete you might want to make sure there are professional photographers at the competitions you enrol,.The reason why, time goes on and after a while only the photos will remain as your memories from your presentation on stage.

As a former competitor I do regret that I neglected securing professional photographers at my competitions in the past

and now I don’t have single photo from some of my past competitions. Recently one of the competitors I have photographed on stage got featured in Oxygen magazine and all the photos she had published were the images from competitions on stage. So clearly professional images from competitions and of you on stage is a must!

How long are you going to be in this shape? Capturing your best and having memories of your body in perfect shape is something to consider!

I am so fortunate I was aware of those times when I was in peak shape and I made sure I had heaps of images from varies photographers, different styles (outdoors, gym, studio) to capture my peak shape!

Those photos will represent me forever. The photo on the left was taken while I was in Miami Florida for Musclemania contest at a beach photoshoot I organized with the popular photographer at that time ONYX- George Hoffman.

The images I have from my various photoshoots when I was in peak shape also have been published numerous times in international media as well.

Some of the most successful models never knew they could become famous. Ava Cowan posted her professional modelling photos on modelling site before she got famous and she got discovered like that. There are sites for models where agencies, media and photographers browse, so you never know what they are looking for, you could get discovered too.

The more images you have the more chances you have to become professional model.

When I was working as a model, I was getting a lot of offers for paid modelling jobs; you can also work as self-employed model and model for money. Create a portfolio and become self employed model Another reason to take some professional photos is if you have a product or service or business to market. A lot of people in the fitness industry are personal trainers or fitness business owners, so you yourself might be the best marketing tool for more successful business.

Having professional photos also might be great exposure, to get known internationally, not only locally and on stage. Public exposure might give you more opportunities in any field and any country. Developing your personal web page with your professional images, web site and marketing your self may open doors to sponsors, opportuneness, work, money, exposure, business and fame.

Ever thought about having photos to show your kids or grand kids from your figure and contest achievements, there is another reason to own good collection of professional images and beautiful photo albums.

My story as model: A while ago (2005) I was browsing the net and bumped into blush photography web site. I was lucky to win a free photoshoot with the studio.

The photographer told me that I could easily become a model and she suggested some modelling agencies. I applied with few agencies and I got accepted in one, working for them currently as well and while modelling work is not a priority for me, but if for you is, you could have a blossoming career in the modelling industry.

Photographers will usually pursue you to take photos because they will get the money or to contribute to their portfolio.

I am advising you need the photos for your further success.

Wesley Raphael talks with Mariya Mova I started working out about 3 years ago. I joined the gym with my beautiful wide Aurelie and her brother Adrien. Aurelie and I wanted to improve our fitness, lose weight and adopt a healthier lifestyle. That was the plan originally.

At that time I didn’t want to compete as being a former Judo competitor and champion, I know the hard work and sacrifice involved in getting ready for a competition.

Aurelie had her next competition in May 2012 , the Melbourne classics. I went to support her and that’s when I saw the category for the Mr Beach Body division . That is only when I started considering getting on stage as the beach body was my ideal look.

Aurelie was preparing for the Victorian Titles INBA in September 2012.

To support her I decided to diet and exercise with her. She then encouraged me to compete, saying that since I would be dieting as well, I may as well compete. I decided that I would compete and we sent our entry forms together to the INBA and then got into it.

Our exercise regime consisted of cardio , abs and obliques training before breakfast 7 times a week and weight training 5 times per week. Our diet mainly consisted of green vegetables, fish, chicken and egg whites.

The journey was incredibly hard but paid off when I won my very first show at the Victorian titles. I didn’t expect this for a second. I then qualified for the Australian Titles and Aurelie had qualified too, which worked out pretty well as we were able to continue the journey together. Winning my very first show gave me the boost of motivation I needed for the finals.

Aurelie and I continued to diet very hard for the Australian Titles in October 2012, where I won the finals in Mr Fitness.

My childhood years were spent growing up in the bayside area of Melbourne, I was a fairly chubby child and I participated in a few weekend sports such as basketball and cricket & tennis.

I trained the more my body changed not just at physical level but a mental one too. In 2007 I competed in a national tournament, which I received 1st place in my division for noncontact point scoring, all the training had paid off. This really got me thinking about starting a career in fitness.

ieve Brock Do you ever feel like you don’t always have full control of your own life? That even though you are the captain of your own ship, someone else is steering?

Do you have moments where if you dared look up, you would see your puppet master tugging at the strings attached to your limbs? Have you ever encountered the invisible, impenetrable road blocks that mysteriously pop up in your path, separating you from what it is you want?

Is fate to blame? Perhaps our lives really have already been mapped out, perhaps our destiny is already written

in the stars, perhaps certain ‘things’ just aren’t on our cards, perhaps we are all just pawns arranged carefully and strategically in the chess game that is life. Or, are we victims of the circumstances that we have created for ourselves?

For me, there is nothing more frustrating than the inability to take action. It inspires feelings of powerlessness, lack of control, fear and anxiety. These are places of severe discomfort for any individual, (including myself) and places that I ‘hang out’ from time to time, but really don’t enjoy being there.

Taking action is the key to making positive changes in your life

Taking action is the key to making positive changes in your life and is also the critical component to leading a fulfilling life. However, taking action can be one of the most difficult things to do as it requires elements such as knowledge, courage, passion and drive – often elements we feel do not possess or at the very least, feel are lacking in our personalities.

I’m an extremely goal oriented person. I’m never without a goal, a ‘to do’ list, and a notebook filled with my dreams and aspirations just itching to be ticked off. So, why is it that some goals are so much easier to achieve than others?

I’m not missing a gene or a chromosome, nor have I failed to learn some ‘secret’ formula that only others are privy to.

I don’t believe for a second that I am an under-developed individual lacking certain personality traits that guarantee accomplishing my goals and achieving success. Besides,

I’ve done it before, so what is stopping me this time??? The answer is ME!! I am the one standing in my way of taking the first steps to achieving my goal. I am the one onboard my ship, Captain’s hat and all, but it is the little voice in my head controlling the steering wheel.

I am the marionette flailing my limbs helplessly while the little voice in my head gleefully pulls at my strings. And that invisible roadblock that I keep running into…well, that’s the little voice inside my head too.

So, how do I get around this if I am the one creating the issue? Do I don my cowboy hat, spurs and pistol and have a Mexican stand off in my mind? Confront those voices and demand they stand down?

That’s certainly one method, but instead, I choose a less aggressive approach. Firstly, acknowledging that I am the only one standing in my way is the best place to begin and identifying when I am in my comfort zone.

Although at times it is nice to set up camp here with a doona and a dvd, it can also be very unfulfilling. We have all been blessed with the ability in life to choose and if you make the conscious choice to sit back with your feet up without ever making an attempt at achieving your goals, you will undoubtedly experience profound regret. Taking action requires knowledge – knowing exactly what it is you want and being able to specifically and effectively describe it. You must be very clear about what you want, no matter how big or small. Write it down, study it and perhaps analyse why you want it so much. Taking action doesn’t require you to have an outstanding IQ or to have gone to University. But it does demand that you know and can clearly define what it is you truly want.

Once you have defined your goal or your desire, taking action requires courage. It is one thing to know exactly

what it is you want, but acting upon it is a completely different story. Beware of activities that disguise physically taking action and fool your brain into thinking you are actually doing the work.

One is talking. Telling people in your life about your goal is exciting and I highly encourage that behavior but remember that constantly ‘talking’ about it doesn’t actually bring the goal post any closer to you. Talking about the goal is a step, but you must take the next physical step toward achieving. Another ‘guise’ of taking action is planning. I am the first to admit I’m a constant planner. I like to plan out on paper, write my lists, draw diagrams and vision boards of exactly what I am going to do to achieve my goal.

But, I get so distracted buying my stationary, stickers, coloured pens and fancy notebooks that nothing actually gets done. I fall into the trap of convincing myself that by planning, I am actually doing. Wrong.

I get really great at writing, but not great at doing. I could plan forever before taking action because I just want everything to be ‘perfect’. Instead of striving for perfection, examine instead why you might lack the courage to take a physical step to act. What are you afraid of? Fear of failure? Fear or success? Fear of judgement from others? Fear of not being your best? These are all perfectly acceptable reasons why we lack courage in taking action and all significant to the human condition, but they are also incredibly crippling.

Do not let the fear of failure stand in the way of you taking small steps to achieving your goal. A way of combating this is take a leaf out of Tony Robbin’s book and eliminate the word ‘failure’ from your vocabulary. Completely change your mindset and begin to operate under the belief system that there is no such thing as failure, only outcomes and results. Sure, not every outcome or result

will be the one you wanted or intended but by operating in this way, it increases your chances of physically taking action because you will not fail!

Rather, you will learn from the outcome and try again.

Taking action also requires passion as our goals are often formulated and associated with what we are most passionate about in life. What do you love?

What makes you happy? What keeps you getting out of bed in the morning? To succeed in achieving your goal, passion must be present otherwise you will not produce the energy required to take physical action.

There are those around us who lead incredibly passive lives.

When opportunities present themselves, they do not act and instead, put up with a life of discontent. No-one really wants to live this way, but the reality is people do because they lack passion.

To re-ignite the passion in y identify what you absolu To re-ignite the passion in your own life, identify what you absolutely love, take full ownership of this and give yourself full permission to do/ have it. Perhaps you were told that you couldn’t do something, be something or have something for a myriad of reasons which completely destroyed the passion you had. Take back control, change your mindset – you don’t need anyone’s permission to do that.

You were meant to express yourself, contribute your talents and accomplish exactly what you want in life. Remind yourself of your enormous and unlimited potential and that your passion will always be unique to you.

The need to be accepted? The desire to be respected? Or realising what your purpose in life is and refusing to settle until you get it? Examine closely the great motivators in your life and work out if they are hindering or helping you physically take action. Fear and comparisons can be great motivators, but they can also be the very things that hold you back. Possessing a strong drive ensures you will not give up easily on your goal and gives you the strength through the tough times you may encounter.

The path to achieving a goal is certainly not without challenges and obstacles, but no great accomplishment is without hardship. You are not alone Taking action, like passion, in experiencing this and it is requires drive. Work out exactly personal drive that will see you what it is that motivates you? through to the end.

What is driving you? Is it fear?

Pain? Comparing yourself to

your own life, utely love.

Taking action also requires responsibility. No-one is going to do this for you. This can be overwhelming but it is incredibly empowering. Physically taking action is making a choice, taking a risk and accepting the consequences of that action. There is nowhere to hide, no-one to blame and no comfort zone in sight.

There are few people in the world who continually operate outside their comfort zone but it is these people who realise what they are giving up by not taking action. If you address that in your own life, I believe you will stand next to those who, despite being afraid, despite niggles of self doubt, despite challenges and despite not having all the answers or knowing the outcome, put themselves on the line and achieve what it is they set out to in the first place. Whatever your

goal or whatever your dream is, no matter how big or small, you MUST take action. Don’t settle for just ‘dreaming’ it, take the action necessary to turn it into a reality.

I enjoy group exercise as it can be as social as you want it to be. I participate in the Les Mills exercise programmes – Monday – Body Step & Body Pump classes Tuesday – early morning 6 km run Wednesday – freestyle aerobic class with either Zumba or 6 km run on the treadmill Thursday – Body Combat & Body Balance classes Friday – Body Pump & ½ hour

CX Class Saturday – early morning 6 km run Sunday – rest day For something a bit different – “try 1,000 steps in the Dandenongs” twice over as an excellent “mixing it up” activity (followed by a nice lunch in nearby Sassafras afterwards).

Train smart = Work out longer Of course food choice is very important ( especially as you get older your metabolism is slower)- quantity plus quality.

I try to make the best food choices especially when eating out and always a little less in quantity on a daily basis.

Drinking 2 litres of water daily if possible will make a big difference also.

Something Delicious and Nutritious: Yogini Chocolate Brownies 1 cup almond meal 2 tablespoons protein powder ½ cup cocoa powder ⅓ cup coconut oil – melted ½ desiccated coconut 3 tablespoons rice malt syrup ½ cup tahini – unhulled Photo: Mariya Mova ½ cup rice or quinoa Puffs 1/3 cup dried cranberries or cut dried fruit of choice (Optional) Mix all ingredients together then press into a tray lined with baking paper, allow to set in the fridge for a few hours or overnight.
