irst there was a wave of Information Technology (IT) revolution when computers and microprocessor based devices were introduced few decades ago as information processing seeped into almost every business domain. People had hardly been able to come to grasp with it when a second wave of revolution came in the form of Internet.

A defined project life cycle is established according to the methodology and type of project. The project management process is derived from the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and ISO-9001 process standards. The project management process covers scheduling (according to the Work Breakdown Structure-WBS), monitoring, communication, staffing, costing, resource assignment, risk management and stakeholder management. The project plan or project control book refers to other process areas, i.e., process plans which include quality assurance plan, requirement management plan, change management plan, configuration management plan and procurement plan, etc.

Computerisation of Military Land and Cantonments Department The Computerisation of Military Land and Cantonments (ML&C) Department is one of the major IT projects undertaken by NESPAK. The Company provided consultancy services to automate the manual system of the Department in 43 Cantonment Boards, 11 Military Estate Offices, 6 Directorates and Director General Office. The scope of project involved the implementation of IT solution including development of customised software application, installation of hardware and network infrastructure, bandwidth and data centre services.

Punjab IT Department e-Government Projects The first major breakthrough in IT consultancy was achieved by NESPAK in 2003 when it assumed the role of project management consultant for e-Government projects of the Punjab Government and undertook 25 projects of different departments. NESPAK services included initial survey, PC-I review, development of Software Requirement Specification document as part of bidding document for software, hardware and networking, technical and financial evaluation.

Automation of Indus River System Authority This unique project involves the domain of hydrology. The objectives of this first-of-its-kind project in Pakistan are to:  Develop a Decision Support System (DSS) hosting GIS/MIS, tools, models, interfaces and reporting procedures to provide assistance in determining and evaluating alternative courses of action for operation and management of the Indus River System Authority (IRSA).  Design a web interface for effective data sharing within IRSA and all federal and provincial stakeholders including general public.  Develop a highly complex web-based secure application and its supporting infrastructure in form of data centre to host web intranet/extranet for integration with the telemetric systems and hydro-modelling product, GAMS.

Web-based Agriculture Department Automation Under this project, an automated web-based application will be developed which will be integrated with other third party products. MIS and Web GIS modules will be developed for automation project related to agriculture.

Web-based National Flood Protection Plan-lV The overall objective of consultancy services is the development of a 10-year National Flood Protection Plan, a reliable information system and database to enhance data processing and automate the preparation and dissemination of flood reports among the relevant organisations along with a webinterface accessible to all stakeholders at the federal and provincial levels, including general public.
