Once a bustling part of Rochester's community, St. Joseph Church saw a big change after a fire. Now, instead of a church, it's a cool urban park. People use it for events and to remember the history of St. Joseph's.
Throughout the twentieth century, St. Joseph's remained a focal point for Italian Americans, hosting weddings, and baptisms, and supporting the education of children at St. Joseph's School, which closed in 2002. In 2003, the church marked its centennial anniversary and later merged with another church to form the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Parish.
Today, St. Joseph's stands as one of Niagara Falls' largest and most historic buildings, continuing to symbolize the community's enduring legacy of Italian American heritage.
St. Joseph's Parish in Rochester, New York, was founded on July 10, 1836, during the early days of the Catholic Church in the United States. Initially serving a small German Catholic community, the parish faced challenges but eventually thrived under the leadership of Father Joseph Prost. The church, initially named St. Mary's, was purchased and converted from a Methodist building. Despite financial struggles and lay trusteeship, the church grew, with pew rents and collections supporting its operations. The dedication of the church to St. Joseph in 1837 marked a significant milestone in its history, symbolizing the perseverance and faith of Rochester's early German Catholic community.

Architect Marià Castelló Martínez has restored a historic tower on a Mediterranean island. The 'Pi des Català' tower, built in 1763, is one of four lookout towers on Formentera Island's coast. After careful renovation, the 12.5-meter-wide landmark is now open to the public. Castelló preserved the original character using matching materials, with weathering steel adding a modern touch. Changes were minimal for safety and structure. Visitors enter through a new corten-framed doorway, leading to the main space. Inside, a steel staircase replaces the original stone one, and a spiral staircase leads to the rooftop deck with defensive features.

At Mifuneyama Rakuen Park on Kyushu Island, teamLab transformed an old bathroom into a captivating art installation named "Megaliths in the Bath House Ruins." Inside, large stone-like blocks fill the space, showcasing flowers blooming and fading away. The untouched setting adds to the experience, with time becoming integral to the installation. The flower imagery dynamically changes based on visitor movement—the more people move, the slower the blooms, while stillness accelerates the process. Additionally, a waterfall of water drops responds to visitors' movements, creating a unique and interactive experience for all who explore this intriguing space.
