CELEBRATING THE CLASS OF 2024

I speak on behalf of the entire MLC Community when I say how immensely proud we are of our graduates’ personal and collective achievements.
Together, they have set a remarkable example to the entire College, working with determination and persistence towards their goals. As we celebrate the Class of 2024, we recognise that each student has her own story to tell, one that has been strengthened by the loving support of families and shaped by the guidance of dedicated teachers and the MLC Community.
Throughout these pages, we will share stories that are rich with examples of determination, courage and perseverance. These qualities have been evident inside and beyond the classroom, through academic accomplishments, involvement in co-curricular activities and community outreach programs.
A holistic education is far more than academic success –it’s about shaping well-rounded individuals who are prepared to navigate the complexities of life.
An MLC education encourages students to find their purpose through service to others, by developing core values, and embracing challenges that build their character and sense of agency.
The Class of 2024 graduates have been equipped not only with knowledge but with the tools, values and resilience to face whatever lies ahead.
From the moment they walk through our College gates, students are immersed in a culture of growth, learning and support. As our newest Collegians take the next step in their journeys, we have no doubt that they will continue to lead, innovate and make a positive impact. The foundation of their holistic education will propel them forward, and we eagerly anticipate the remarkable paths that they will forge.

Starting her MLC journey in Year 7, Harmony joined the Boarding House from the small coastal town of Carnarvon, not yet aware of the important role her Boarding School experience would play in shaping her story.
Crediting the MLC Boarding House’s supportive environment for encouraging personal growth and academic excellence, she was able to discover her passions and develop valuable skills.
A pivotal point for Harmony was attending a careers expo in Year 10, which solidified her decision to gain qualifications in Community Services. She chose a General Pathway, complemented with one ATAR course
and a VET Certificate, to keep her options open. Throughout her studies, she made sure to stay active in helping others through advocating for Yalari Scholarship students as Yalari Captain in Year 11, and Boarding students while serving on the Boarding Executive in Year 12.
Harmony is currently completing a traineeship at The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), which will allow her to gain a Certificate III in Government. With aspirations of contributing to her local and Indigenous communities, she believes this placement will help with her career ambitions and goals, and looks forward to providing support and resources to help both children and adults succeed in their lives.
Overall, my time at MLC and as a Boarder shaped me into a more resilient and well-rounded individual, preparing me for a future with a sense of purpose and excitement.”
Serving as the Academic Prefect, Sarah saw her time at MLC as more than just achieving good grades – it was about challenging herself, discovering her passions, and developing the resilience and skills needed for the future.
She chose an ATAR Pathway and valued the guidance of her teachers when selecting her subjects. Her love for both The Arts and Sciences led her to take a well-rounded approach, allowing her to explore both her creative and logical sides.
Beyond academics, Sarah was deeply involved in co-curricular activities, especially when it came to music.
She played in the Symphony Orchestra, participated in Barbershop, Jazz Orchestra and Chamber Groups, and had the opportunity to accompany the Australian Combined Schools Music Festival on piano. For Sarah, these activities were not just about refining her musical talents but about building connections and teamwork.
Looking to the future, Sarah is confident that the holistic education she received at MLC has prepared her for success. She has received an offer from Curtin University for a Bachelor of Science (Actuarial Science) along with the prestigious Curtin Excellence Scholarship and will take a gap year before commencing her degree.
In your final years, it may seem like all your work is defined by a few exams or marks, but remember it is ultimately your love for learning that will set you up for the future.”
Imogen began her MLC journey in Year 5, quickly discovering a supportive and nurturing environment that helped her grow.
She appreciated how her teachers took extra care in focusing on the individual, which encouraged her to step outside of her comfort zone and try new things. This support continued through her Senior Years, especially when it came time to choose her pathway for Years 11 and 12.
Imogen chose an ATAR Pathway as it best aligned with her strengths and aspiration of studying a Bachelor of Science / Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University.
Throughout her time at MLC, Imogen maintained a strong balance
between academics and co-curricular activities.
In Years 11 and 12, she played in the Symphony Orchestra, excelled in rowing at both the IGSSA and State levels, and directed House Drama. Outside of school, she also rowed for the Fremantle Rowing Club and represented WA in the Pathway VIII+ regatta in Penrith in Year 12.
Now, with her sights set on the future, Imogen is excited to start her journey at Murdoch University’s Vet School. She’s also training with the WA Rowing Club and plans to compete at Nationals in Tasmania. Reflecting on her time at MLC, she feels equipped with the resilience and skills to succeed in whatever she chooses to pursue.
My time at MLC has been transformative and full of opportunities. I’ve grown academically, socially and personally, surrounded by supportive teachers, friends and experiences that shaped me into who I am today.”
Awarded Dux of the College in her final year, Devon’s MLC journey is a testament to how dedication and hard work truly pays off. She credits her success to the strong foundation built during her early years at MLC, which helped ease her transition to high school.
In the Junior Years, Devon was introduced to various academic competitions and extension classes, which sparked her interest in Science, Mathematics, Languages and Society & Environment. These opportunities helped cultivate her love for learning, making it easier to absorb complex material in later years.
When it came time to select her subjects for Years 11 and 12, Devon chose an ATAR Pathway, supported by the guidance of her teachers.
Alongside her studies, she participated in various academic competitions, played IGSSA Badminton and completed 37 hours of community service. Maintaining a balanced life was essential for Devon, and she credited her organised routine and strong support network for helping her manage it all.
Looking ahead, Devon plans to complete a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) at the University of Western Australia.
My MLC experience was a pivotal part of my life that truly cultivated my love of learning.”
Georgia started at MLC in Year 5, excited about the school’s strong sense of community and the many opportunities available.
By the end of Year 12, she could confidently say her time at MLC had been truly memorable, filled with academic and personal growth.
For her Years 11 and 12 courses, Georgia chose an ATAR Pathway to keep her options open for the future. She credits the course counselling sessions in Year 10 in helping her navigate the number of options available and make informed choices.
Outside of the classroom, Georgia served as an Arts Prefect and was actively involved in co-curricular activities. She enjoyed participating in the Heather Lamont Festivals and being part of the 2024 College Production of Matilda the Musical Jnr.
Georgia will now pursue a Juris Doctor (law degree) via a Bachelor of Science at the University of Western Australia. This unique combination allows her to explore both legal principles and scientific inquiry, preparing her for a wide range of career opportunities.
I really enjoyed my MLC experience, especially in Years 11 and 12. I loved participating in all the co-curricular activities that were on offer and the MLC sense of community.”
As a Duke of Edinburgh Youth Award Leader, Charlotte embodies the MLC Values of Integrity, Wonder, Courage and Humanity every day.
Through the program, she has learned the importance of giving back to her community and supporting young people. This experience enabled her to develop invaluable leadership skills and a purpose-driven approach to helping others.
Charlotte aspires to a career in Medicine, a path that was nurtured by MLC’s holistic approach to education and the support of her teachers. A driven student, she chose an ATAR Pathway for Years 11 and 12 to challenge herself and reach her personal best.
However, she also made sure to balance her studies with co-curricular activities including playing the oboe in MLC ensembles, participating in IGSSA sport and representing her House as Olympia Prefect.
Reflecting on her journey, Charlotte emphasised the importance of staying focused on her goals. She believes school is not just about grades but about the experiences that shape who you become. Looking ahead, Charlotte is already making strides towards her purposeful future. She has received the Julia Gillard Women in Leadership Scholarship at Curtin University and plans to pursue a Physiotherapy Honours degree before continuing her studies toward Medicine.
At times it will get hard and that’s okay – you’ll get to where you want to. Believe in yourself and everything will come together.”
Isabella’s time at MLC was shaped by the important advice she received: “Stay true to yourself and don’t compare your journey to others.”
This empowered her to make a significant change in her Senior Years, switching from the ATAR to the General Pathway at the end of Year 11.
The support from her teachers was crucial in helping her navigate this decision. They gave her the tools to understand the differences between the two pathways, encouraging her to follow what felt right for her without pressure. Bella ultimately chose subjects that aligned with her interests, which led to her receiving
an early offer to study Psychology at Curtin University.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Bella immersed herself in co-curricular activities such as Dance and Drama Showcases, IGSSA sports, and singing lessons. These experiences allowed her to develop valuable leadership and teamwork skills while pursuing her passions outside the classroom.
Reflecting on her time at MLC, Bella encourages future students to evaluate their passions and goals and not to rush into decisions based on others’ choices, as following your own path leads to the greatest happiness.
Everyone’s path is different and it’s important to focus on your own goals and what makes you happy rather than following what others are doing.”
