Soli DeoGloria Student Athlete Stand-Outs 2013-2014
Galen Holzhueter (St. Mark-Mankato MN, pictured) broke the MLC baseball records for career stolen bases (33) and triples (nine). He also set new MLC men’s basketball records for career points (1,704), rebounds (680), field goals (671), and free throws (339); and he became the second player in MLC history to record at least 500 points in a single season. Rebecca Engelbrecht (Resurrection-Aurora IL) became the second player in MLC volleyball to notch 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Hannah Hackbarth (St. Paul-Lake Mills WI) broke the MLC women’s basketball record for career three-point field goals (156) and broke her own MLC single-season record for three-point field goals (61). Jenna Maurer (Good Shepherd-South Attleboro MA) was named UMAC Co-Rookie of the Year in women’s soccer. Bethany Schultz (Trinity-Waukesha WI) was named UMAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year and became the third player in MLC women’s soccer to record at least 100 career points (41 goals + 32 assists = 114 points). Sara Willems (Epiphany-Racine WI) broke the MLC softball single-season record for home runs (eight). Jake Ziel (St. Matthew-Oconomowoc WI) set the new MLC baseball record for career strikeouts (205), broke the school record for career innings pitched (200.2), and was named UMAC Co-Pitcher of the Year.

Individually, 62 MLC fall athletes and 56 spring athletes made the Academic All-Conference list. Only one other conference school, St. Scholastica-Duluth MN, had more athletes on the list.
