MP’s Diary

I have been holding a number of street surgeries around the city, including at the Shenley Wood Retirement Village. In addition to my regular surgeries by appointment, street surgeries provide constituents with an opportunity to bend my ear on the issues that are most important to them. For me to be an effective representative for local residents it is essential that I hear people’s concerns and I am grateful to those who shared their views with me. One of the privileges that I enjoy as MP is meeting inspirational people. Recently, I met Andrew Lawless, a constituent who is a stroke survivor. Before the unfortunate incident, Mr Lawless had a successful career in the commercial sector. Rather than be deterred by the incident, he is putting his experience and skills to excellent use by setting up ‘In touch with stroke survival’ – a community interest company to help re-enable other survivors. His website, _http://strokesurvival.co.uk/ gives a sense of his vision and aspirations for others who have been affected by stroke. For companies looking for a corporate social responsibility (CSR) project, I believe that ‘In touch with stroke survival’ is a worthwhile cause to consider sponsoring.
There is also good news for people looking to buy a home in Milton Keynes. This month I joined Jephson Homes Housing Association at the official unveiling of its Walton Grange scheme on Brickhill Street. This development includes 53 high-quality homes, which will help families in Milton Keynes to access local affordable housing. I know from my post bag that there’s a huge appetite for quality affordable housing in Milton Keynes. This development is in a lovely part of Milton Keynes and I’m sure will be very welcome for local people. Redeveloping an existing site like this is also a great way to help protect green areas and make the most of brownfield land. Congratulations to Jephson on completing this development during tough economic times. Milton Keynes also hosted the Energy and Climate Change minister, Greg Barker MP, as he visited the Lakes Estate in Bletchley. The Minister took part in discussions over the proposals to refurbish 480 council housing properties as part of the Green Deal. The proposed work will include external wall insulation and ‘warm roof’ improvements to flat roof terraced houses, helping residents to save money on their energy bills.

POSITIVE LIVING The person you are now is not the whole person that you can be... From your first breath to your last you are a work in constant progress. Every person is unique. Everyone is here today physically in this time frame for their own purpose, to fulfil their soul agenda and life journey. The whole purpose of life is to evolve. Nature runs in cycles, animals live according to their species limitations; we on the other hand do not. We have the ability and intelligence to be anything we desire, with no boundaries or programming to hold us back. Before birth you still existed. You were present in energy form, pretty much as you are now but without your physical shape, your present body, much as vapour would be to ice etc. You had most likely been on Earth before within a different time and place, you’d lived a different life and built up character, strengths and talents according to world progression and conditions of life around you. Every soul on Earth today has lived on Earth before. This is important to understand. We are souls on a soul journey of eternal growth, of infinite intelligence and progression. Every single soul will experience everything, if not in this life then in those before or yet to come, as part of the unending cycle of life unfolding and playing out. This is the real purpose of human existence, the reason that we are here, for collectively we give the meaning to life itself, we write its program, what it actually means to spend time here physically living, to feel, think, see, hear, know, to love, learn, grow, experience, explore and express... Collectively we are responsible for the labels and meaning we stick on life, for how we live today and for what is playing out across the globe. We invent the real time script that we then daily live. We are accountable for what we feed to life and for what we are attracting for the future - and the world view we’ll leave behind us for our children. Whilst still in the realm of spirit, before our time of birth, we tried to plan the type of life we personally would encounter. We chose our parents, siblings, peers and people we would meet along the way, how they would aid and interact (and us with them), and what we’d gain on a soul level from the experience. We saw an overview of life today upon the surface of the planet, what we could and would contribute if we were able to wake up, to help or heal or change, to aid what we saw unfolding for the greatest good. With these things and more in mind we saw the benefit of presence for self and others. This life that you are living is your most important yet, for it’s the culmination of your soul’s progression up to date... After every life lived here we gain earthly baggage to work through. We see what we’ve accomplished, opportunities that we’d missed, ways we could have changed things – had we realised - for the better. We see the real affect of our live actions - good and bad, we see the routes we took and available alternatives we may have missed for different outcomes. We see the time that we’ve just spent here and the affect it had on life and others, whether overall we were an asset or a drain. These are some of the many varied things that program personal Karma in every life,

karma that’s accumulated throughout our present life agenda, which must then be overcome and triumphed through for us to grow. This is a fundamental reason why we experience what we do and why we are all so very different, for we are all on different levels of achievement, development and progression, we’re on individual journeys playing out – in real time life, journeys of our own choosing and design. Babies are born pure. They have no blemishes or baggage at time of birth. They are shaped by their experience, by life and people interacting, by society, by conditioning and conditions that surrounds them. Depending on their character and intelligence, they assimilate knowledge gained. This in turn builds into karma – that needs to be worked through in later life – as we are now. Karma, cause and effect, free will and personal choice determines who you are and what you do today. This makes you unique – it’s why you are you. Nothing that you’ve been through was meant to harm. Instead as you look back – you will see that you are stronger and much wiser for your experience. You have grown. You are different today than who you were in years of youth, and you’ll alter time again before you leave the planets surface and physical life. What you leave undone in this life – goes with you to the next, for life continues – it does not stop. You will overview your achievements as your contribution to today and to life’s present real time programming as a whole. What you leave behind will depend on how you read reality, how you interpreted live signs and signals, what you did through your own free will, conscious intent and personal offering. What you gave in terms of energy – good and bad. Our life links to the planet. Our presence is either an asset or a drain – the choice is ours. Everything about you – you have chosen at some time, even in your smallest thoughts, your look, your taste, your home, your work, your loved ones and your hobbies. Milton Keynes itself was even birthed in this same way, as an idea within the mind of its first architectural creator and then of every creative thinking mind in tune thereafter, from commercial to domestic, so you can begin to see the power that you too personally weald, for you are an integral working part of life itself. For today at least, begin to notice your life differently, as though you were looking in... Do you feel loved, understood or appreciated? Recognise your own thoughts, habits and patterns. Begin to notice how they drive you and how they add to life around you, how your actions write the reality that you then face and invest your free time, free will and life force continuously in. No one should pull your strings. You have total flexibility to live your own life. Physically, whether in this life or the next, nothing is completely certain except we birth and die, yet far more occurs on levels unseen than we can ever imagine. The soul journey you are travelling is completely individual and unwritten – so what you will contribute, pay forward or give back – is yours by personal choice and accomplishment.

A-level Results Rocket Skywards for Akeley Wood School A-level results at Akeley Wood School rocket – the best ever, as students’ achievements go from strength to strength! Once again the outstanding performance of Akeley Wood’s Sixth Form shows striking evidence of impressive value-added scores in every subject across the board. Teachers at Akeley Wood joined in with the students’ celebrations this week, delighted to share in their success. As Headmaster, Dr Jeremy Grundy, comments, “I am especially pleased to see such significant value-added scores, with so many students far outstripping their predicted grades at A2 as indicated by their GCSE results.”

As summer bedding plants begin to fade thoughts turn to autumn, our thoughts turn to replanting with winter and spring flowering bedding plants. Before you replant your borders, I recommend that you spend some time preparing the soil. After you have removed your old bedding plants, dig over the soil removing any weed growth, especially deep rooted weeds such as ‘dandy lions’, docks, bind weed or nettles. Even leaving the smallest amount of root in the soil they will regrow. Brake down any large lumps of soil and treat the soil with an application of ‘Bonemeal fertilizer’ a small ‘hand full’ to the square metre to add some new nutrients to the soil. In September the soil is still warm and moist especially with all the rain we have experienced this past summer it is an ideal time to replant. Rake and level the soil before planting any new bedding plant. Remember if the old summer bedding plants where healthy and not diseased compost them down to make garden compost with for next year. Plants such as Pansies and viola are available in abundance everywhere from Supermarkets, Garages, Markets and Garden Centres. Pansies and Violas are exceptional as they will flower right through the autumn, winter and into spring. Suitable for hanging baskets, containers, beds and borders, to improve flowering remove faded flowers immediately. When replanting baskets or containers I always recommend replacing the compost if possible to avoid any over wintering of pest and disease such as ‘vine weevil eggs that have been laid by the adults before they are killed off as the weather deteriorates and we begin to experience cooler night time temperatures. When replanting hanging baskets at this time of year a good combination of planting is either pansy or viola with golden thymus – Thymus Aureus. There are many varieties of thymes available, they are hardy and ideal for hanging baskets or containers. Wall flowers are available now. When buying wallflowers select plants that are fresh with firm stems
and healthy green leaves, bushy plants with several stems about 20/30 centres in length. They are often sold ‘bare rooted’ in bunches that may have been lifted several days ago. Before buying - check the centre plants of the bunch for faded, often yellow leaves, stems that are showing signs of rotting, also they may not smell very sweet. If they are of poor quality do not plant them as they will never establish and grow into healthy plants to flower next spring Some other plants available now to plant for planting in beds and borders are Aubretia, Arbis, Bellis daisies, Cineraria maritima, Mysotis (Forget me nots), Polyanthus, Primroses and Sweet Williams. Another very popular and colourful plants available now is the Miracle Cyclamen, a miniature form of the traditional house plant, with very brightly coloured flowers either red, white, pink or mauve, they will flower from September through until early December when cooler night time temperatures below 2 degrees become to severe for them. They are often sweetly scented with a very delicate fragrance, they will add instant colour to containers, window boxes or sheltered corners of the garden. As soon as flowers fade remove the dead flowers, all to stem ‘clean’ from the corm, any small length of stem left will very soon cause the remaining stems to deteriorate and rot. For many years brightly coloured Chrysanthemums have been available during the autumn months in various colours shades of yellow, orange, bronze, red, white, mauve, pinks and purple known as ‘Yoder Chrysanthemums’ they are ideal for autumn colour in containers on the patio or decking. Compact growing plants producing masses of small flowers that form a large head of colour growing around 30 centimetres high will flower from September through October and often into early November. Often they will over winter and flower again next autumn. Another recent trend is to plant ‘Ornamental Cabbages and Kale’. With white, pink, red or purple and green foliage lasting throughout autumn and winter, they make a colourful display in borders or containers. These cabbages are purely ornamental and are not grown for ‘cooking’ – they have a very bitter taste I am told - if you try to eat them.

Small businesses will lead the way in 2012, says company whose tenants already employ 1000 people Milton Keynes will boom in 2012, says the town’s largest serviced business premises provider, as the number of people employed in its units tops 1000 at the close of 2011.
