Miss City of Sunshine - Allyssa Defillipo

I never thought that night that I would be crowned Miss City of Sunshine, and since that day everything has changed. I have not only met my bestest friend and forever pageant sister, Anna, I have been given many opportunities that I may not have without this program.

I earned about $7000 in scholarships at the local level this year, allowing me to continue my education in Early Childhood Education and Nutrition Most importantly I learned that I am capable of doing the things I dreamed of as a little girl- singing on stage, sharing my passions, and inspiring others

Since being crowned Miss City of Sunshine I was inspired to become a better version of myself: filming commercials, continuing my modeling career, starting my own coaching business, prioritizing my physical and mental health, dedicating time to others, and working hard to achieve my goals. I found confidence and motivation through this title that has changed my life.

And Anna, my Miss Klamath County, there’s no words for how grateful I am to have been paired with the ying to my yang. This program granted me with someone who not only inspires me everyday, but inspires others as well I love you to the moon and I know you will continue doing great things in your life

My Miss Oregon Sisters: the sisterhood is truly why I started competing and I couldn’t of been luckier than the ladies I had in this years class Each and every one of them are kind, loving, beautiful and hard working I have met some of my greatest friends and cannot thank you guys enough for the experience you have provided me and the light you continue to shine in my life.

Thank you to everyone who has believed in me and supported me along this journey- and I will continue serving this community, uplifting women, and sharing my passions inside and out of this program.

Allyssa Defillipo

Miss Klamath County- Anna Edwards

Sometimes the best decisions are the ones made on a whim My favorite spontaneous decision was deciding, at the very last minute, to compete in the Miss Klamath County/City of Sunshine Scholarship program. Let me tell you, the last thing I expected was to be crowned as Miss Klamath County 2022!

I dedicated this past year of service as my farewell to Klamath Falls, as I will continue my education at Oregon State’s School of Pharmacy in the fall of 2023 My hometown community helped me develop into the young woman I am today, and I wanted to show my appreciation through service One of my favorite volunteer moments happened at the 2022 Klamath County Fair. I walked into the bunny barn to hang out with and assist the 4-H kids Instantly, I was surrounded by kids bringing me their animals and telling me all about them Of course, over the next two hours, I held every animal and told the kids how impressed I was! Moments like that are why I fell in love with volunteering and making connections in the community

One of the parts I am most grateful for this year is the genuine friendships it brought me. Annikah, my teen, is the sweetest, most bubbly, and hungry girl I know. My favorite memory with her happened while we volunteered at a golf tournament benefiting Children’s Miracle Network This was the first time she had driven a golf cart, which was on her bucket list Don’t worry, she was a natural! She only hit a few bumps and puddles along the way, but that didn’t stop her from having the biggest smile on her face I love you Annikah Never stop being yourself and keep lifting others up with your kindness! Melanie, you put the sunshine in Miss City of Sunshine’s Outstanding Teen! You always radiate happiness and let your positivity shine into the lives of others I love you and am excited to see what the future brings you! Thank you for being the most amazing teen my best friend could ask for

Oh, I haven’t introduced my best friend? Allyssa, Miss City of Sunshine 2022, I am beyond lucky this organization made our paths cross I will always be in awe of your poise, determination, beauty, and success. I am so proud of you and everything you have accomplished Thank you for being the yin to my yang, feeding me the most delicious vegan snacks, and always being someone I can turn to One of my favorite memories with you happened after our Fourth of July Firecracker event I drove you home and we sat parked in your driveway for HOURS just talking Another memory I love is when we wore the same pair of sparkly heels, because I owned two different sizes, to the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce. I accidentally gave each of us one size 9 heel and one size 8 heel, and I didn’t even notice! I love looking back on the memories we share and can’t wait for the future adventures we’ll have You are my sunshine and I love you for all that you are

There is so much I have learned and gained from my year of service I’ve learned how to become more involved in any community and how I can make a difference through my social impact. I’ve become aware of my self worth while developing my confidence and independence I gained so much support and love from my board, sister queens, and all of my friends I competed with at Miss Oregon

Sometimes I look back and think to myself, “where would I be who would I be if I hadn’t given this organization a chance?” So, I encourage everyone to be spontaneous and open to change and uncertainty As I take off my crown for the last time this year, I remember that the best things in life are spontaneous because they are sincere

It seems like yesterday this journey began, and yet here I am standing before you now on this last day as your Miss Klamath County’s Outstanding teen.

It has been one of the greatest honors of my high school career to serve the communities of Klamath and Lakeview for the past year, and I hope I’ve made you proud This program has not only given me a new family and new friendships, but a new found self confidence It has allowed me to give back to the communities that have given so much to me I could go on and on about how amazing this program is and all that it has done for me and the other wonderful women I have had the pleasure to work with

There are a few, very special people I want to personally thank for helping me grow as an individual. Debbie and Wendy, I can’t thank you enough for all you have done for me. From helping me through the pageant the day after my great grandma died, to giving me the confidence to go chase my dreams. You two have always been there for me, loving me and encouraging me. To my amazing life long supporter my mom. Thank you for pushing me to do this even when I was afraid I’d fail I would never have gotten this far without you I love you more Madre Finally thank you to all my friends and family who have supported me from the very beginning From showing support at our local pageant, to state, and all the social media posts I’m where I am today from all of your support

The Miss Oregon and Miss America programs have so much to offer young women, but they also have so much room to grow I hope that they will continue to change for the better for the generations to come, and just maybe you’ll see me again to help accomplish it.

Annikah Tacchini

Klamath County Teen - Annikah Tacchini

City of Sunshine Teen - Melanie Potter

From an early age, I’ve always had big dreams I once had a teacher tell me that I had to be the change I wanted to see in the world That phrase always inspired me to want to do something that would leave a positive impact on the world. At the age of nine, I made the decision to become a vegetarian, in an effort to promote animal rights As a nine-year old when I first approached my mom about it, she probably thought it was a phase But it was a decision that I've stuck with ever since

But despite always having these big ideas, and this desire to do something, i’ve always struggled with having the courage to speak up I had always wanted to, but never felt like I actually had the ability to change anything. I lacked the confidence I needed to speak up and felt like I was too young, or too small to ever make a difference But being in this program changed that for me It gave me the confidence to believe in myself and the platform I needed to express my ideas, feel heard, and make change It taught me how to turn my ideas and aspirations into plans and make them a reality

I never thought that by signing up for this program I would gain so many amazing friendships and opportunities But the women in this program have all become like a second family to me

The amazing women on our board of directors are all so welcoming, selfless, and supportive I’m so lucky to have such amazing mentors and mother figures in my life They have provided me with guidance, love, and support throughout my entire journey, and have volunteered countless hours to help and support the young women in our program and our community I am so grateful for all that they do and I'm very fortunate to have them in my life I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them They have taught me so much, and have always been sources of endless support and encouragement

In my family, I’m the oldest of two younger siblings both little brothers. So naturally, I’ve always wanted a big sister and now I have three! Alyssa, Anna, Annikah and I, were all new to pageants this year For each of us this was our first time competing in pageants as well as our first time being titleholders It’s been so amazing getting to spend this year learning new things, experiencing new things, and making new memories with my Pageant Sisters It was intimidating, overwhelming, and difficult at times as there was so much I needed to learn. But I’m so glad that all three of us were going through it together and that I had my Pageant Sisters as well as my amazing board directors or “Pageant moms ” here to help me the entire way I’m so grateful that I got to experience serving my community, and learning what it means to be a titleholder in the miss America program this year and I’m so honored that I got to represent our amazing community at Miss Oregon

Throughout my year of service as I titleholder I’ve come to understand and realize what an amazing supportive community we have, and I’m so greatful to be part of it This year has truly taught me so much and has shaped me into the person I am today I’ve truly loved being a titleholder and representative of klamath county The past year has been absolutely amazing
