Meet our Judges

Freddie Davis

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, later moving to Redding, California I embraced challenges early on. Crowned Miss Shasta County at 17, I financed my own journey to Miss California, fostering independence and determination. Married to Greg, our adventurous life spanned six states and three careers, blessed with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Our faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints guided us through life's chapters. Retired from railroad construction, we prioritized family, settling in Klamath Falls, Oregon, 7 years ago - focusing on what truly matters: family, faith, and cherishing every moment. My life embodies seizing opportunities, embracing adventure, and finding strength in faith and family.

Stacy Howard

Stacy first began her involvement with the Miss Klamath County - Miss City of Sunshine program in 1996 when she, herself was a contestant She was crowned Miss City of Sunshine in 1997 and went on to compete at Miss Oregon, placing in the top 10, and also received the Service Award Scholarship After giving up her crown that year, she knew she wanted to continue serving the program on board of directors, while heading the talent portion She served on the board of directors until 2012 Stacy currently works at AmeriTitle as the Vice President and General Manager of Klamath and Lake County operations.

Lena Larecy is an eighteen-year-old senior at Roseburg High School. As Miss Oregon’s Teen, she has traveled the state serving and volunteering with a variety of community organizations, but she has a special spot in her heart for helping those in foster care.

Lena's Community Service Initiative, “Together We Rise - Helping Teens in Foster Care Find Success" is inspired from her personal experience in the foster care system.

On the Miss America stage, Lena made history as one of the first delegates to perform a HER Story for the talent phase of competition. She hopes that by sharing her story, she can help inspire others to take control of their lives and not let their circumstances define them.

As a graduating senior, Lena is thankful for the $11,000 she has earned through her experiences in the Miss Oregon Scholarship Program

Klamath County Teen

If you had told me the day I started my journey that I would be crowned Miss Klamath County’s Teen, I would have said you are crazy. But a year ago I was crowned and it has been fun representing and serving our community. I wish I could tell that I've had a favorite appearance or memory but there are way too many amazing ones to choose from.

Now to bring on the tears, I wouldn't be standing in front of you today if it was not for my family or friend's support. I would like to start by thanking my family for always supporting me no matter what hobbies I picked up, especially my senior year when I decided that I wanted to start my pageant journey. Thank you to my parents for attending every meeting, and appearance and always helping me after every practice, even if it meant you had to drive almost 5 hours just to watch me compete at state. Not only have you all supported my hobbies but you have raised me to be a strong and caring young lady.

I also want to thank my sister Tristan for being my little best friend and I say little because I'm 8 years older. And to the 3 sisters, I gained the day the crown landed on my head, no matter what I know that when I need a good laugh you are always there to make me laugh until I almost pee my pants, convince me to buy something new even if I don't need it or to solve every little thing I can think of off the top of my head. I never had an older sister but I was blessed with 2 of the best ones and a pretty amazing bonus little sister. It has been an absolute joy representing the community with you.

Not to forget all my friends who stuck right by my side from day one, without you, I would be lost. No matter the hard times we have all been through, you chose to stick by my side and be my support system when things got rough.

Last but not least, I would like to thank our amazing board of directors. You guys put up with me and that says a lot because I know I am hard to handle You guys are the foundation of our program and most of all, our rocks I can't thank you enough for wiping away my tears, always giving me snacks, and listening to my crazy thoughts Without these people's support, I wouldn't be who I am today, so I thank them from the bottom of my heart I love you all so much!

Ashten Helms

- Ashten Helms

Almost a year ago today, I was crowned Miss City of Sunshines Teen I felt so honored and grateful to be given such a wonderful opportunity I not only got to represent Klamath County but Lake County as well. They were both extremely supportive of me throughout my year of service. This past year has been filled with remarkable experiences, many new friends, and so much knowledge I achieved many goals during my time as Miss City of Sunshines Teen I raised money for cancer research, got nominated to compete in the Miss Oregon Community Service Initiative Brunch where I placed 2nd, and was awarded Non-Finalist Interview at the state competition I couldn’t have done it without all the amazing people around me To my delight I was crowned alongside 3 other wonderful women who are beautiful inside and out

To my Miss, Mckenzie, I am so glad we were put together You have taught me so much, and are always there to check up on me I couldn’t thank you enough for everything you have done Ashten, my partner in crime Thank you for always going on silly little adventures with me Like getting face paint at every event it was offered, eating all the yummy treats, and taking funny pictures with me. Shelby, thank you for all your words of wisdom and encouragement You are such a kind hearted person All of you have had such an impact on my life and I couldn’t ask for a better group sisters I love you guys so much

I would also like to thank my incredible directors They took me in as their own and made me feel so loved even before I was crowned. They came to Lakeview to help me prepare for the local pageant, and came back to prepare me for Miss Oregon They spoiled me with gifts and guidance, which I couldn’t thank them enough for Next is my family My mom and dad have put so much time into my success within this program They drove many many hours to get me back and forth from events, to and from Miss Oregon, and provided me with anything I needed From my wardrobe to my housing after events This program is more than just scholarships and pretty dresses, although that is a perk. It is learning how to have confidence in yourself, expanding your knowledge, building long lasting friendships, and it helps prepare you for your future It teaches you interview and public speaking skills, as well as creating poise

Makina Start

The Miss America program, specifically here in Klamath County, has really helped me embrace all the pillars of the crown. Style, I have become so much more confident in what I wear. Service, I was able to volunteer at many new events that I wouldn’t have known about without this program Success, I accomplished so much and now get to help others achieve their goals Scholarship, I received many different scholarships throughout my year of service Mainly here at the local level, but I also received them at state as well And lastly the base of the crown, Sisterhood I met so many friends around the state that I have kept in contact with The women in this program are just phenomenal. I plan on continuing my journey within the Miss America program in the future, but for now this is your Miss City of Sunshine’s Teen 2023, signing out,

Allison Burke, a lifelong resident of Tigard, Oregon, achieved the title of Miss Oregon in July 2023. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Community Health Education from Portland State University, she currently serves in the United States Senate as an Operations Manager for the State of Oregon.

Driven by a passion for public service and community welfare, Allison is a committed advocate against hunger in America. Over a decade ago, she established the 'Backpack Program' in Tigard, providing weekend meals to underprivileged children.

Recognized as Tigard's Volunteer of the Year, her advocacy against hunger expanded nationally, with chairing Hunger Free America's Associates Council in New York City since 2018. She also lobbied with Feeding America at the Oregon State Capitol (2016-2018) and on Capitol Hill (2020-2022).

Allison is forever grateful for the over $31,000 in scholarships and professional development received through the Miss America opportunity from 2014 to 2023! Outside of work, Allison enjoys playing the violin, reading fantasy and thriller novels, and traveling to every county in Oregon!
