Black History Month Speaker Series Ofc. James (JD) Davis 2.12.2020 Officer Davis works for our very own Walnut Creek Police Department. He previously worked as Police Officer and a Police Corporal at the Loyola University Police Department and the East Baton Rouge Parrish Sheriff’s Office.

He will be giving advice about how to interact with police and his experince as an officer of the law.

Film Maker Kathy Cotton Mrs. Cotton is working to bring the history of African Americans in Technology past and present to the screen.

Mrs Cotton began her career as a human resources professional working first for several startup companies and ending her career at Hewlett Packard. She left HP and created her own consulting firm. She created many vanity films for friends and family which led her to her first documentary of the cover band, The Cheeseballs.

She completed a documentary for the Delta Sigma Theta of Portland Oregon and the headstart programs 50th anniversary celebration in Portland Oregon. A Place at The Table is the first film produced for the Silicon Valley Project Black Project. She will be speaking about black innovators, tech, and her artistic process.

Black History Month Speaker Series Endy Ukoha-Ajike Attorney

Ukoha-Ajike is a California licensed attorney who practices primarily in the areas of Tax, Estate Planning, Business Consulting and Non-Profit consulting.

He will be speaking about how he got to where is and give advice about pursuing your dreams.

Tammy Appling-Cabading

Educator, Activist

Tammy Appling-Cabading was faculty at Saint Mary’s College for 12 years. Currently, she is the No More Tears Project Director at San Quentin Prison. She was appointed to serve on the Racial Justice Oversight Committee for Contra Costa County.

She also volunteers with APEP (Academic Peer Education Program) in San Quentin, where she helps men to prepare for their GED. Tammy is deeply committed to restoring justice back to humanity. She was born in the Deep South, which has informed the direction and choices she’s made in her life. Currently, she creates environments of deep learning and prefers to leave a legacy of sunshine instead of doom. After feeling the charge to embrace her creative prowess, Tammy is stepping into the power of her words and letting them take her where she needs to be.
