Dear Readers,

"Mixing The Culture" is an idea inspired by the need to showcase the universal love language of hospitality and its soul under one portfolio in one night. Good Libations, Good Music, and Good Sticks are all avenues to fellowship with one another while blending our own cultures, upbringings, and rhythms for a celebration of representation Mixing the Culture is just that, we have empowered 8 bartenders from different parts of the country with different cultural backgrounds to help us create 4 classic cocktails with cultural and regional riffs to make them their own while ushering us to the dance floor where our partners "Diggin Through The Crates" will provide vibes curated by the guest who will be "digging through crates" to pass the DJ the next song selections of the evening The mixing of cultures, tastes, and sounds will be highlighted by the fellowship of conversations while enjoying a Bacardi Ocho-infused cigar under the New Orleans night sky Cigars are a commitment to conversations and a true symbol of celebration. What better way to celebrate than pairing premium cigars with premium spirits from a premium brand in the Bacardi portfolio?

The Multi-Cultural Ambassador team for Bacardi is not just interested in providing a platform and raising awareness of the cultures we all represent for one evening during Tales of the Cocktail. We are dedicated to providing empowerment, equity, engagement, and education consistently throughout the year as our presence in this industry and the hospitality community as a whole is felt all over the world. This is why we are using this amazing platform to launch the "Mixing the Culture" quarterly magazine which will highlight different Multicultural BIPOC members of the hospitality community every quarter for the foreseeable future This magazine will be used to highlight bartenders around the world and give insights into their up-and-coming plans, activations, projects, and trends in the community. It will be a digital database of up-and-coming talent as well as seasoned veterans behind the stick that you may not be aware of Mixing The Culture magazine will be offered as a hard copy for guests who attend the event at TOTC as well as available digitally by QR code and link for any and everyone who wants to have a peak into the Culture.

This has been a passion project for the Bacardi MC team for 3 years and finally seeing it come together is truly a work of art. We hear phrases such as melting pot to describe this country The issue with that phrase is a melting pot just cooks everything down to taste the same "Mixing the Culture" is more of a salad The goal is not to soften or cook down individual flavors, but more importantly and impactfully show how unique and outstanding cultures combined to create something of substance that nourishes our spirits, recharges our bodies, and inspires our minds into seeing just how good we can be if we all come together fully representing our authentic selves

Black Mixcellence | by Tamika Hall and Colin Asare-Appiah

Black Mixcellence: A Comprehensive Guide to Black Mixology is a beautiful book that blends contemporary recipes and Black history. Written by Tamika Hall with Colin Asare-Appiah, this book tells the stories of some of the African American men and women who shaped American liquor, cocktails, and mixology to what it is today. Tamika Hall noticed many of these stories were not being represented and sought to change that.

In addition to highlighting history, Black Mixcellence takes a look at Black mixology today through featuring the recipes of over 20 mixologists making their mark in the field today. Altogether, this book features 70 cocktail recipes organized by base liquor.
