Graphic Design at MIT ID has evolved to encompass the larger objective of Communication Design, focusing on the essence of Strategic Design Thinking and nurturing the values of Empathy in Social Impact Design that could generate betterment of society at large. The learners of Graphic Design discipline would undertake courses of study that would include theoretical, conceptual, skill and tech-based learnings. Topics like typography and type design, illustration and photography, packaging and print design, signage design and corporate identity systems, brand design and design for public welfare broadly formulate the content.
The knowledge of technology would gear learners for fields of Visual effects, user interfaces and many emerging virtual experiences. They would learn from projects within Promotional design, Information Design and Social Design; research being the core for each course. The Graphic Design course is suitable for candidates who are inherently good at creativity and visual communication. They would be mentored to become theoretically and strategically sound as also empathetically sensitive to generate innovative solutions.
