Mitchell Rae Born in Australia and raised in the Northern Beaches. Being exposed to various landscapes and environments throughout his childhood sparked his interest in landscape design. With the aim of bettering the surrounding environment. Mitchell is in the process of completing his third year of Landscape Architecture at UNSW. Mitchell has gained experience from landscaping and working with which has pushed him to explore the aspects of the landscape as we know it. During his time at UNSW, he’s completed various projects. Gaining experience and new skills with hand drawings, model making and programs such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, QGIS, Adobe Suites, Microsoft programs, Rhino, knowledge and skills from landscaping and landscape design with The Garden Makers. Mitchell has always been into the creative side of life as a result of being dyslexic, using problem-solving skills he’s been able to use this to enhance his design skills and not let them hold him back.

Studio 7 - Powering Tomorrow With Today Legend Location:

Anzac Park, Campsie, NSW

Vision: “Powering Tomorrow with Today” will transform Anzac Park into an accessible, high level, community centered space. Anzac park will become an eco-friendly space using sustainable energy infrastructure. With solar powered lights, kinetic pavers and other sustainable features. This space is found within the heart of Campsie, the transformation will develop a greater sense of home for residents. The area acts as an Urban Relief, activating the shop fronts and fostering community connection. The streetscape will transform to increase canopy coverage and combat the UHI.

Context: The project aims to transform Campsie into a modern neighborhood by 2039, with a focus on landscape architects as urban innovators. Participants explore sustainable urban spaces, emphasizing nature-based solutions and an adaptive approach to design. Using an adaptive learning approach, the process involves continuous adjustments based on data analysis, context exploration, simulations, and stakeholder engagement. This assignment centers on a 200m radius circle around the Anzac Park, focusing on “Energy Transition.”

Participants propose ways landscape architecture can support cleaner energy, incorporating feedback from stakeholders for a realistic perspective aligned with community needs.

Origin

The use of brick pavers dates to the early 1500’s when the Tudors were around. Using sun dried clay bricks as pavers. Over time its developed into a process where clay gets dredged from the seabed then heated into the right shape.

Very durable, expected life expectancy is around 25+ years. They can be put under large amounts of weight and survive.

Physical Properties including compressive strength (MPa) and slip resistance Surface Finishes

These bricks are able to withstand over 10,000 psi making them quite durable. The brick pavers have been tested and meet the standards of the slip resistance (AS 4586:13)

Application

Layout template, excavate selected area, level out area, place base material underneath and compact it. Apply a cement mix then apply the brick pavers. Used for patios, driveways, walkways, pools and gardens.

Physical Characteristics

A tight finish to the brick pavers, there will not be any gloss finish sealers for the pavement.

Product: Rustic Brown Brick Pavers Colours: Rustic Brown Dimensions: 230x114x65mm Sustainability: They are sustainable since they can be recycled and reused for other projects and more.
