Mine Staszic "was founded in 1964 and is in turn one of the youngest in the Polish mining industryustry. In 1993 the two mines included in the Katowice Coal Holding SA and now constitute a mining company under the name KHW SA KWK "Murcki-Staszic. Daily mine production is on average 23 000 tonnes. New mine coal resources are estimated at about 50 years of extraction.

Murcki "is one of the oldest Polish mines, if not the oldest. The first mention of coal mining on the so-called. "Hill Murckowskim" dates back to 1657. Coal was mined in opencast then. Establishment of the mine and begin underground mining method dates back to 1769. The first name of mine is the "Blessing Emmanuel" ("Emanuelssegen"). In the period between the mining areas murckowskich there were two mines: "Prince-Maria" in Murckach and "Christmas Gifts" in Kostuchna. In 1976, two mines were combined in a mining plant "Murcki.
The mines Myslowice and Wesola were merged in 1997. Production figures for the combined entity are recorded under Wesola.
