Sarah Clapper1 Chronicles 16:8 states, “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name; make known among the nations what He has done”. I must first thank the Lord for changing my life on June 17th, 2017. It was by His grace alone that my dreams became a reality and I will forever be thankful for the work He has done through me.
There are no words to ever fully express my gratitude to the people that have helped make this journey possible. Mom, your love is never ending and your strength is unparalleled. Your guidance and support means the absolute world to me and I will never be able to thank you enough for the sacrifices you’ve made to help shape me into the woman that I am today. Dad, the words, “thank you” will never be enough and I promise to continue to show you for the rest of my life how thankful I am for all that you have done. Your love and guidance serves as the foundation of my life and I strive to live by your example. You have taught me what selfless love looks like and I am so grateful to have you as my father. Brittany Michelle Flanigan, imagine if we could go back in time and tell our second grade selves that we would be living out our wildest dreams in the year 2018. You are my inspiration and I cannot even begin to tell you how much I appreciate all of your support, and thank you for constantly pushing me to dream bigger. I love you b.
There are people that God has brought into my life that are deserving of endless thanks and gratitude. Linda, I honestly do not even have the slightest clue how to appropriately thank you for all that you have done for me. Your kindness has forever left an impact on my life and I am so thankful for you, your family and your endless love. Mackenzie, thank you for being the best little sister I could
ever dream of having! Jeff, I do not even know where to begin. You have forever changed my life and I cannot thank you enough for your selflessness, love, kindness, warmth and sacrifice. God placed you in my life for a very specific reason, and because of you, children and adults all across Northwest Ohio heard an important message and hopefully saw God’s love through our work.
To the one who originally placed this dream in my heart, Melanie, my sister, I would be completely lost without you. You are someone I hope to emulate throughout my life and I thank God every single day for our friendship. Matt Miller, you’re the bomb.com I cannot wait to share some pizza with you very soon!
Becky, you helped make this dream become a reality and I am so thankful for your love, guidance and friendship. You have taught me how to embrace my authenticity and ultimately become the best version of myself. Your impact on my life will forever extend beyond the crown.
The Miss Ohio family is one that I will never take for granted. Marlene, I cannot thank you enough for opening your heart and home to me for the past six years. I am so thankful for your love, kindness, support, and let’s not forget the award-winning chicken salad. Dayna, you are the kindest soul and have a truly special place in my heart. I am so thankful for all of our fun memories and I promise to stick around in your life to keep you out of trouble, or at least to try! Thank you for always being there for me and supporting my dreams. The Bishops, you all have touched my heart and I love you all dearly. I am so thankful for the unconditional love you have shown me over the years and I am so grateful for every hug and high-five! To the entire Miss Ohio Board, thank you for supporting my dreams and providing love and guidance throughout this entire journey. Thank you to all the local directors that have supported my dreams over the years. Martha, thank you so very much for all of your love and support, you are so genuine, kind and selfless. Thank you for providing opportunities and for creating memories that I will never forget.
To my entire Berardi family, the words “thank you” once again are truthfully not enough to fully capture my gratitude and love for all that you have done to support me along this journey. Joe, thank you for always providing guidance and helping me figure out my life, I am so grateful for your friendship and unconditional support. Missy, Stella and Sophia, thank you so much for traveling to Miss America and being a part of this incredible journey! To the rest of the “family”, thank you for all the love and encouragement, I truly could not have done this without you.
We don’t get to choose our family, but I believe they are God’s ultimate gift in our lives. To my entire family, thank you for all of your love, patience, guidance and support. I cannot even begin to express how thankful I am for all of you and I thank God every day for blessing me with such a loving and caring family. Speaking of family, Gracie, you are the greatest sister I could have ever asked for. I am so thankful that God brought us together and I cannot wait to see the amazing things you accomplish in your life. I will be there for you every step of the way and you will always have a special place in my heart.
To all of the young women competing for the title of Miss Ohio, remember it is not a title that defines your personal worth, it’s the kindness in your hearts. You have all touched my heart and I am a better person because I know each and every one of you.
Finally, to every child, young adult and person I’ve met along this incredible journey, thank you. The students I’ve met gave me strength to continue, even on the difficult days. The words of encouragement meant the world to me and I am a changed person because of every individual I met this past year. When I set out on this journey, my goal was to positively impact the life of one person, while I may never know if that goal was accomplished, I can say with full certainty that more than one person positively impacted my life, and for that, I am forever grateful.
Promise yourself -
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health. happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

The goal of our efforts is to find the best Miss Ohio and potential Miss America. This responsibility rests solely in the hands of our distinguished judges. When the contestants appear before them in the various competitions these judges will consider their attributes and their ability to represent the ideal American woman; a woman with dignity, poise, charm and beauty, as well as the necessary intellect, education and talent to carry Ohio’s hopes to the coveted Crown of Miss America.
The Miss America Organization is not looking for a beauty queen; there are dozens in every state. We are seeking a woman capable of symbolizing American ideals and standards while carrying out this responsibility in the interest of her country.

Graduating from Kent State University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in dance, Heather then took her talents to Atlantic City for the Miss America Pageant – an unforgettable and life changing experience.

Mix 106.1 morning show host Tony Mitchell wears many hats at work. In addition to waking up every weekday morning at 2:00 to prepare for his job as co-host of the “Tony & Chelley” morning show, he also serves as the station’s operations manager and music director. Tony has been in radio since 1986, when he was awarded a producer’s job at a radio station in Cleveland for being the top student in his class at the Ohio School of Broadcast Technique. This is also where Tony learned what morning radio was all about while working for industry legend Larry Morrow. Since then, he has worked at highly rated stations in Elyria, Ashtabula, Columbus, and Erie, Pa. before finding a home at MIX 106.1 in 1995.
Today, she resides in Columbus, Ohio with her husband Zachary. Crediting the MOSP with her professional success, Heather landed her dream job with L Brands in Talent Acquisition for Bath & Body Works – helping to connect top talent in retail with the world’s leading destination in personal care. When she can find spare time, Heather enjoys running, ballet dancing, marathon training, and distance cycling. Heather will be running the Nationwide Children’s full 26.2 mile marathon again in October of this year. Currently Heather and Zach are training and fundraising for Pelotonia, a 55 mile bike ride in Columbus with #onegoal, to end cancer! They enjoy spending time in their new home with their two adorable fur babies, Kunu – dog and Shredder – cat.
Tony was born and raised in suburban Cleveland and moved to Mansfield in 1990. He has been married to Shannon since 1994. They have 2 children, Cory and Carli, who both attended St. Peter’s high school. Tony owns a successful mobile DJ business called Hitman Entertainment and spends most of his weekends providing musical entertainment at weddings, school dances, corporate events or private parties. He also serves on the Ontario 4th of July Festival committee and actively involves the radio station with the festival, reaffirming the station’s commitment to localism.
