COST, SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL AID FOR FIRST-YEARS

Misericordia University was founded a century ago to educate the daughters of area coal miners. Staying true to our heritage, MU takes affordability seriously. At $36,400 for the ’23 -’24 academic year, Misericordia’s tuition ranks as the lowest tuition for private, four-year institutions in Northeast Pennsylvania. Housing and food costs, on average, total $14,570.

To offset the cost of attendance, all applicants are automatically considered for the following merit-based scholarships, based solely on information provided within a student’s application for admission and on their high school transcript:

■ Merit Awards, for students with qualifying GPAs

■ Resident Awards, for students living in on-campus housing

■ Alumni Referral Awards, for students who were encouraged by an alumnus to apply

■ Alumni Legacy Awards, for students who either had a parent or grandparent graduate from Misericordia or have an aunt in the Religious Order of the Sisters of Mercy

Misericordia University encourages families to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, (or FAFSA). Once submitted, MU will consider students for need-based financial aid, to include:

■ State and Federal grants (not to be repaid)

■ Mission Awards, need-based institutional scholarships of varying amounts

BOTTOM LINE, IT’S ALL ABOUT VALUE!

When considering both merit-based AND need-based financial aid awarded through Misericordia University, many families find MU’s net cost often times to be substantially lower than that of other regional colleges and universities!

■ Non-Pennsylvania Resident Grant, a need-based scholarship for out-of-state students

Students with a cumulative 3.7 GPA (as determined by the Office of Admissions) are invited to compete for the Sister Mary Glennon ’62 FullTuition Scholarship! The University welcomes six new Sister Mary Glennon Scholars in each incoming class.

99% of first-time, fulltime undergraduate students receive institutional financial aid 96% of the incoming class of ‘22 received scholarships 23-24 COSTS: $36,400 tuition, $1,970 general fee, $14,570 housing & food, (total $52,940)

TRANSFER MADE EASY

At Misericordia University, we know that the transfer process can seem daunting or even frightening. But our goal is to make this transition as easy and worry free as possible so you can focus on what matters most… completing your degree. In fact, four out of five transfer students at Misericordia graduate with their degree.

You will have a dedicated counselor who works exclusively with transfer students and guides you throughout the entire process. This counselor will also informally review your transcripts, letting you know your status, counsel you on any uncertainties, and work with you to develop your first schedule.

MISERICORDIA OFFERS MORE THAN 30 ACADEMIC PROGRAMS FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS AND HAS A GENEROUS CREDIT TRANSFER POLICY ENABLING TRANSFER STUDENTS TO TYPICALLY COMPLETE THEIR DEGREE IN TWO YEARS!

Any student entering the University with an Associate’s degree in a field related to their intended major at Misericordia will normally not be required to complete more than 66 credits to earn their bachelor’s degree.

Further, if you have an AAS degree in a technical field, we’ll accept the entire degree, allowing you to receive a BS in professional studies in 66 credits.
