OUTDOOR RECREATION PROGRAMS

The Last Paddle Lake Kayaking Saturday, Nov. 3

7 a.m.–4 p.m. $55 per person $25 R4R Discounted Price Ages 16+ Join us on Lake Towada for the last kayak trip of the season. Weʼll spend about two to three hours on the lake, weather permitting, and make a stop for lunch (bring your own food). This is a moderately physically challenging activity and basic swimming ability is recommended for all kayaking programs.

This trip includes transportation, a kayak instructor/guide, kayak use and all required safety equipment, including coldweather outerwear, jackets and pants.

7 a.m.–4 p.m. $45 per person $25 R4R Discounted Price Ages 7+ Enjoy a day on the mountain with the family! This easy hike is designed for ages seven and up. Youʼll ride the scenic Hakkoda Ropeway cable car to start the hike. From the top station, your guide will take you on a gentle 2.5 kilometer nature trail loop that has some spectacular views on a clear day. After hiking youʼll return to the cable car for the ride down the mountain. This trip includes transportation, a mountain guide, cable car round-trip fare and a daypack.

7 a.m.–4 p.m. $45 per person $25 R4R Discounted Price Ages 18+ Experience something really unique, a 100% natural hot spring! The water is 38 to 40C and rich in iron and other minerals as it gushes from the ground. Swimwear and sandals are required in the pools and there are no facilities whatsoever in the area. This is for the adventurous folks and limited to 10 people.

After the hike youʼll have a chance to soak in one of Iwate Prefectureʼs most popular natural hot springs with beautiful outdoor grotto pools as well as indoor facilities. This trip includes transportation, a guide, daypack, and admission to the Matsukawa Hot Springs.

Departs 7 a.m. on Saturday | Returns 4 p.m. on Sunday $85 per person $40 R4R Discounted Price Ages 18+ The beauty of the Hakkoda Mountains in November must be experienced! This hike starts at the Sukayu Hot Springs resort and takes you up to a rustic mountain hut where youʼll spend the night. Weather permitting, youʼll enjoy a short hike to the summit of Mt. Odake. Standing at 1,564 meters, itʼs the tallest peak in the range with a volcanic crater at its top. This is a moderately physically challenging activity with a total hiking distance between 7 and 10 kilometers. There is a mandatory pre-trip brieng at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Outdoor Recreation Center.

SSgt Emerson SSgt AlQuincy Emerson is originally from Houston, TX and began working at the Misawa Inn as the Guest Service Manager in August 2017. As the Guest Service Manager, Sergeant Emerson oversees the front desk operation while resolving customer concerns and complaints, takes reservation requests for distinguished visitors and aircrews, while conrming and canceling reservations. Sergeant Emerson also works with the lodging team to house members for evacuation missions from all over PACAF during typhoon season and when the patriot express slips. He was recently recognized as the Force Support Squadrons noncommissioned officer of the third quarter.

When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading and working out.
