The Oak Gables site is located at 1505 Wilson Street West; a prominent part of Ancaster for decades. It covers approximately 4 hectares of land within the Ancaster Business Park zone. It is currently zoned to permit the development of a hotel, conference centre, auto dealership, or manufacturing/ warehouse facility (M3 level zoning part of the Prestige Business Park zoning by-law). Although it is not currently zoned for residential development, the open space nature of the course would be ideal for someone looking to build. The land was purchased by now owner, Bob Wilkins in 2015. With the decline in North American golf course prosperity, a new outlook on programming can give this space a competitive edge, while aiding the community and capitalizing on their annual host of the world junior program. The Oak Gables site is in close proximity to the downtown core of Ancaster, full of lively shops, markets, an inn, and the well-known Ancaster Mill property. Although it doesn’t stray far from this area of Ancaster, the Oak Gables golf course is currently surrounded by manufacturing facilities and some rural residential property. Development tends to move Westward in Ancaster so a revamp of this property would be in sync with the developmental trend.
