MiraCosta College’s financial aid and scholarship offices are located in Building 3000 on the Oceanside Campus.

Financial Aid Office hours are Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–7 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. The Scholarship Office is open Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

How to File for Financial Aid

Federal Aid

MiraCosta College Financial Aid Office participates in the following programs:

File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The first day to file a FAFSA for the upcoming school year is January 1.

Students should file a FAFSA prior to March 2 to meet the CAL Grant deadline. To apply for a student loan, you may also be required to attend a loan information session. (Call the Financial Aid Office for details.)

File a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) available at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). Use it to make corrections electronically, or via mail, if needed.

•

In addition to filing a FAFSA, students applying for Cal Grants must file a Grade Point Average (GPA) Verification by March 2.

Call the Financial Aid Office for details.

When we receive the electronic copy of your SAR, we will mail an acknowledgement letter and a data sheet to you. Please return the completed data sheet to our office as soon as possible. It activates your file at MiraCosta College.

The Board of Governor’s fee waiver (BOGW ) is available yearround. Use the BOGW application if income and household criteria matches, or if you receive TANF, SSI or General Relief.

If none of the above apply, file a FAFSA to qualify.

A review of your SAR and data sheet will determine what other documentation is needed. A request of needed documents will be mailed to you.

Once documentation is received and processed, we will issue an award letter to you.

•

If you are eligible, your financial aid funds will be disbursed to you via direct deposit or a check in the mail.
