What EOPS services are available?

Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) is a program offered through EOPS. CARE provides single parents receiving CalWORKs/TANF with additional support and services to enable economic self-sufficiency and an opportunity to attend college.

To qualify for CARE, students must initially meet criteria for EOPS. Students must also:

• Application fee waivers to UC and CSU campuses

• be a current recipient of CalWORKs/TANF

designed to recruit and retain students who are economically, socially and educationally disadvantaged. EOPS helps students develop their potential through academic support and financial assistance. EOPS services are designed to give students individualized attention and support to improve their chances for success.

• 18 years of age or older OR • A high school graduate or equivalent OR • A junior or senior in high school with special permission.

What is the cost?

The college is required by state law to charge each student an enrollment fee for all credit classes. For current fees for California residents, consult the college catalog or class schedule. These fees are being reviewed by the legislature and may be increased. A Board of Governor’s Waiver is available to assist low-income residents with enrollment fees; however, students are still responsible for textbooks, supplies and parking fees.

Complete and submit the following:

EOPS provides book grants to assist students in our program with the cost of books. In addition, there are many other state and federally funded programs designed to assist with the expenses of attending college. Some other financial aid programs for which you may apply are:

• enroll in a minimum of 12 units.

• have completed less than 70 degree-applicable units.

• not have a bachelor’s degree.

• Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

• Cosmetology kit payment assistance

Who is eligible?

To be considered for EOPS, a student must: • be a resident of California.

• qualify for a Board of Governor’s Waiver (BOGW) method A or B.

• be educationally disadvantaged as defined by state regulations.

or

• be single, head of household.

• have at least one child under 14 years of age.
