From Culinary Chemistry to Forever Engineers Picture this: a high school culinary class where fate decided to play matchmaker.

Our love story, rooted in friendship, began to blossom, taking an unexpected turn when university engineering unveiled the deeper layers of our connection.

From study dates that weathered the storms of first-year challenges to the breathtaking moment when Andrew proposed on the July long weekend of 2022 at the family lake house on Lake Sainte in Alberta – our story is a tapestry of love, laughter, and shared promises.

We have many memories that take us on a journey the hillside overlooking Lake Sainte, where a golf cart ride led to a proposal that painted the night with the glow of lanterns carrying our written promises. It was a magical night, etched in the shimmering reflections of the water, creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

One of the most surprising expenses when planning a wedding is the price of flowers. Most couples spend at least 10-15% of their total budget at the florist. Between bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids, corsages, boutonnieres, centerpieces, arches and more, it can very quickly add up.

As a recent bride, Melissa Feist understands this hefty investment and came up with a solution to get more longevity out of wedding floral arrangements: wedding bouquet preservation. She started her aptly named pressed floral art business Feisty Florals to take her part-time passion to the next level and help brides preserve the joy they felt on their wedding day.

The Feisty Beginning Despite the newness of this endeavor, Melissa is no novice to making pressed arrangements. As a barefooted Albertan wild child, she spent her childhood busily collecting flowers and plants to make pressed art with. This hobby continued into adulthood, but it truly came to life in 2022 after attending a women's festival.

The festival allowed Melissa to reconnect with her long forgotten wild child and rediscover her passion for making art. She then began making floral art from a few family member's wedding bouquets and eventually took the fearless leap to taking on clients.

Each and every project is as unique as the clients themselves, which has allowed Melissa to build her skill set and get better with every piece she creates. She's now perfected her system and is happily serving the Edmonton area for flower preservation.

com. Melissa only takes on 1-2 bouquets per week so make sure you have your spot saved.

2. Let your florist know you plan on pressing your flowers.

This will allow them to plan ahead with plenty of colour and select flowers that preserve well.

3. Try your best not to rough up the flowers you want pressed

during your big day. Tossing a bridesmaid bouquet instead of the brides could be a good idea for starters!

4. After you’re finished with your flowers, keep them in water

in the fridge so they stay fresh before delivering them to Melissa’s Spruce Grove location as soon as possible.

5. The flowers will then be skillfully taken apart and dried through a process that takes 4-6 weeks.

6. The next step is where the fun begins! Melissa will artfully arrange the flowers to create a custom art piece. Photos will be sent to you to make sure that you love the outcome before the petals are permanently glued down.
