WeareseekingadedicatedandtalentedindividualtoserveasanImmigrationStaffAttorney. MinKwon’sSocialandLegalServicesProgramprovidesdirectservicestoover2,500low-income householdsannually ThispositionishousedinourImmigrationLegalServicesprogramandrequiresa JD

Essentialdutiesandresponsibilitiesincludethefollowing:

● Conductcomprehensiveimmigrationscreenings,intakes,andcaseassessments

● Provideinformationabouteligibleimmigrationbenefits,assistclientswithgatheringdocuments, andcompleteimmigrationapplications&petitions.

● Providedirectrepresentationandlegaladvicetoclientsincasesincludingbutnotlimitedto naturalizations,greencardrenewals,adjustmentofstatus,SIJS,VAWA,TPS,UandTvisas, cancellationofremoval,familybasedpetitions,DACArenewals,andinadmissibilitywaivers

● Processimmigration-relatedcorrespondenceandmanageroutineclientcommunications.

● Maintaindetailedandup-to-datenotesincasemanagementsystem,andinphysicaland electronicfiles

● Prepareandconductcommunityoutreachandeducationalworkshops.

● WorkwithMinKwon’sdevelopmentstaffonimmigrationgrantsdeliverablesandreporting

● Generaladministrativeandclericalduties

MinKwonCenter’sStaffAttorneywillprovidefreelegalconsultationsanddirectrepresentationon immigrationmatterstoprimarilylow-incomeAsianimmigrantcommunitiesinNewYorkCity.

Essentialdutiesandresponsibilitiesincludethefollowing:

● Providelegalcounselanddirectrepresentationtoclientsseekingassistancewithaffirmative applications,naturalization,andremovalproceedings;

● WorkwithMinKwonorganizerstoconductoutreach,trainings,andworkshopsforindividuals andcommunitypartnersonimmigrationissues;

● RepresentMinKwonduringdistrictstakeholdermeetingswithUSCISandinother immigration-relatedcoalitionmeetings;

● Superviseandoverseevolunteersandinterns;

● Maintaindetailedclientrecordsincasemanagementsystem

Candidateswillbeevaluatedonthebasisofthefollowing:

● LicensedtopracticelawintheUnitedStates(PreferablyinNYduetorepresentingchildrenin familycourtproceedings)

● InterestandexperienceinworkingwiththeAsianAmericancommunity

● Expertiseandexperienceinimmigrationlaw

● EnglishandChineselanguageproficiencyisrequired

● Abilitytomanageadiverseandhighcaseloadanddeadlinesefficientlywithminimalsupervision

● Excellentoralandwrittencommunicationskills

● Abilitytoworkwellbothindependentlyandinteams

● Strongcommitmenttopublicservice;non-profitexperiencepreferred

QUALIFICATIONS

Theminimumrequiredqualificationsforthispositionincludethefollowing:

● Chinesefluencyisrequired

● JD required

● Abilitytoworkwellindependently,inteams,andincollaborationwithoutsideorganizations

● ProficiencyinMicrosoftOfficeandGoogleSuiteapplications

● AbilitytoworkinamulticulturalenvironmentandwithlimitedEnglishproficientcommunities

Theidealcandidatewillalsohavethefollowingpreferredqualifications:

● Previousexperiencewithimmigrationlegalorsocialservices.

● Knowledge,interest,andcommitmenttowardsconceptsandissuesofsocial,political,and economicjusticeandpositivesocialchangeintheU.S.,especiallyinthecontextofKorean American,APIA,and/orimmigrantcommunities.

● Abilitytobehighlyorganized,meetdeadlines,manageahighcaseload,andtakeinitiativeon projectswithminimalsupervision.

● Experiencewithdataentryandmanagement.
