
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT— DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
The MinKwon Center for Community Action is seeking a dedicated and talented individual to serve as a Development Manager.

Organization History & Mission
The MinKwon Center for Community Action was established in 1984 to meet the needs and concerns of the Korean American community. Since our founding, we have made a profound presence through various grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy initiatives that address important community issues, including immigration policies at the national, state and city levels, voter rights, and cultural awareness. The MinKwon Center places a special emphasis on meeting the needs of our marginalized community members, including youth, elderly, recent immigrants, low-income residents, and limited-English-proficient residents, with special attention on recent immigrants, DACA recipients, and mixed status families.
The Development Manager leads the organization’s fundraising efforts, managing grant writing, donor relationships, and the overall development strategy to ensure long-term financial sustainability. This role combines hands-on writing and project management with strategic planning and relationship-building. The ideal candidate is an experienced fundraiser who thrives in a collaborative environment, is highly organized, and is passionate about social justice.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Management
● Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan across foundations, corporations, and individual donors
● Track progress toward annual fundraising goals and provide regular updates to the Executive Director and Board
● Identify and pursue new funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities
Grant Writing & Coordination
● Draft and edit first drafts of grant proposals, reports, and letters of inquiry.
● Collaborate with leadership and program staff to refine narratives and budgets
● Manage grant timelines, ensuring timely submissions and coordinated communication among stakeholders

Donor & Funder Relations
● Cultivate and maintain relationships with foundation program officers, corporate partners, and major individual donors
● Support the Executive Director in donor meetings and funder communications
● Ensure timely and thoughtful follow-up, stewardship, and recognition for funders and donors
Systems & Reporting
● Maintain a grant and donor tracking system with deadlines, submissions, and relationship notes
● Coordinate internal reporting to ensure accurate data collection for proposals and reports
● Work with the Executive Director to produce quarterly fundraising summaries and insights
● Participate in organization-wide events as appropriate
Qualifications
Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the following:
● Minimum 3–5 years of nonprofit development experience, with proven success in grant writing and donor relations
● Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to craft compelling narratives
● Strategic thinker with strong project management and organizational skills
● Collaborative, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines
● Familiarity with advocacy or community organizing work preferred
● Proficiency with Google Workspace, CRM systems, or fundraising databases a plus
● Familiarity with working with funding entities including government and private foundations
