Well today we put the 'crazy' into the old saying crazy goat lady/man. 14 exhibitors from two states presented 90 goats to our two judges at the Willow Brae Yass show in rather 'damp' conditions. The wet weather did not dampen our enthusiasm for our goats and goat friends we have been missing over lockdown. Thanks to everyone who participated, to our wonderful stewards and judges, to our hosts Jen and Steve Wade for their awesome hospitality, to our show sponsors Patch Mini Goats and Willow Brae Pygmy Goats. Special thanks to everyone helping out at the end of the day. (Fe Everett) Another great show in Yass! Well done to all involved with the organisation and the running of a awesome day, huge effort! Also a big shout out to Steve and Jennifer for sacrificing your paddock. So sorry for all the holes (Ash Bruton)
What a fun day! It might have been cold and wet but it was great to catch up with our goatee friends. I honestly I don't think I have seen people have that much fun at pack up time before.
While a few were worried if they would ever get out....the 'Boys' were having a blast playing in the mud, using their man power to help people and whipping around in Steves new 'Toy'. (Jennifer Wade). It was a great day and the weather just made it even more memorable. It was lovely to catch up with and meet other goaty people and admire so many beautiful goats. Looking forward to the next show. (Leigh Webster). Who would have thought that being wet muddy and cold could be fun lol. All you need to add is a whole lot of crazy goat lovers and good friends. Thanks to Fe, Tash, Jen & Steve for all your hard work putting this together I know how much work goes into it. Have to say it was nice coming to a show without all the responsibilities Thanks for the fun day x (Seleena Nichols).
WELL DONE!!

NSW MGBA Sydney Royal Easter Show

FRIDAY APRIL 15, 2022
For the past few years a team of our NSW show volunteers have been putting on a display at the Sydney Royal Easter Show with a view to ‘one-day’ having the miniature goat breeds recognised by one of the most prestigious agricultural shows in Australia – the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW.
The popularity of the miniature goat section was incredible and we are so excited to announce that this year on Good Friday the RAS will be presenting an MGBA breed show as part of the goat competition! Entry details and schedule will be finalised very soon and posted via the MGBA members facebook group and our website.
Some pre-planning information all exhibits will need to be from a whole-herd tested stud and be registered at time of entry. Entries will close a lot earlier than our regular shows, so if you have ND or Pygmy kids to enter – get their DNA off asap.
The goats will bump in early Friday morning April 15 and remain on ground until early Saturday morning April 16. No goats can enter the grounds before Friday morning due to full pavilion clean overnight on the Thursday following the Angora section – so travellers might like to organise something on the outskirts of Sydney for the Thursday night.
There are limited basic accommodation options onsite for Friday night right near the goat shed, or your book one of the hotels at Olympic Park.
Parking at the show is included for exhibitors. Please email Fe ASAP if you want to book accommodation for the Friday night on site.

There are also still availabilities as we go to press at the Ibis, Novotel and Pullman if you’d like to secure something there.

The MGBA Team (National Show Committee) have been working on our very FIRST NATIONAL Show. Our fantastic team are working on a venue with the Bendigo All Breeds Expo (VIC) co-ordinators and plan to have a fantastic turnout if all goes to plan. The current health climate will impact on the success of this event. Put your hand up if you would like to help, we are exploring fund raising options and will have loads of surprises in store –

and fingers crossed that 2022 will be the year!!!! (If not 2022, then watch out 2023!!!).

By R. Heaton. The two sister studs are paving the way for redefining the standard of Nigerian Dwarf genetics in Australia. With the importation of some of the most superior genetics from the USA, Kamalaya Farm and Stoney Creek Farm have successfully established their Artificial Insemination (AI) and Embryo programs. They are thrilled with the recent birth of six 100% Nigerian Dwarfs from their imported embryo program.
“We are very excited to showcase our first successful embryo program which produced six kids including four bucks and two does from fourteen embryos. We will be going into our second embryo program in May 2022”. - Rodney Surawski

The friendship between the studs started with Jade Holberton and Shaun Strang (Kamalaya Farm) engaging Rodney Suraswski (Stoney Creek Farm) as their breeder.

Since then, their shared passion for breeding and showing Nigerian Dwarf goats has blossomed into a wonderful collaboration with the vision of elevating the quality of the breed in Australia.
NOT JUST A VISION….
Stoney Creek Farm and Kamalaya Farm are well and truly achieving what they have set out to do.
So far, they have imported more than 15 of the top quality USA Nigerian Dwarf genetics from
superior bloodlines with proven dairy attributes. When Rodney began his journey into the goat world, he didn’t have the kind of relationship with a breeder where he could collaborate, share ideas, and feel supported in growing his stud and business. The kind of relationship Stoney Creek Farm has built with Kamalaya Farm.
The two studs are focused on creating a family around the celebration of the improvement of the breed in Australia. One where new and existing breeders can too, access these top-quality genetics with end-to-end support through the achievements of Kamalaya Farm and Stoney Creek Farm.
