Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder that can incapacitate an individual their entire life if they are not properly treated.

HappyHealthHSalud A healthy and active life Our bodies are designed to maintain an active lifestyle; otherwise we would begin to suffer from diseases, especially cardiovascular ones, which are some of the leading causes of death in the world.

Sedentarism is one of our main enemies, and to combat it, we must first spend less time in front of the TV. Many of us believe that maintaining an active life requires being in a gym for three hours every day, but in reality we don’t have time for that.

In fact, maintaining an active life refers rather to doing things that can we do on a day-to-day basis even while at home, and that do not require special sections of time—unless you need to lose weight or improve your physical appearance.

If you are traveling to work by car, it is recommended that you park your vehicle a few blocks away, or if there is a large parking lot, park at a distance further away from the entrance so that you have the opportunity to walk a little. Do the same when you head back home.

Also, you can decide to take the stairs rather than the elevator. If you are at home for a large part of the day, you can rearrange the furniture, clean out the closets and drawers, clean out any old products stored in the pantry, or go shopping.

Biking and doing exercises with a pair of dumbbells are fairly simple exercises to do. Strengthen those legs by doing a few squats between each of the television commercials and a pair of abdominals after each programming change.

Walking, swimming, and dancing are all activities that, if incorporated into our daily routine, can make for an active lifestyle. Oh, and don't forget to walk the dog—that also counts.

We must make physical activity a habit to keep away from the diseases that plague us without it.

Una vida activa y saludable Nuestro cuerpo esta diseñado para mantenerse activo, de no ser así, empezaríamos a padecer de enfermedades especialmente cardiovasculares, siendo esta, una de las principales causas de muerte en el mundo.

El sedentarismos es uno de nuestros principales enemigos y para combatirlo debemos de empezar por pasar menos tiempo frente al televisor. Muchas veces pensamos que para mantener una vida activa tenemos que estar en un gimnasio, por tres horas todos los días y para eso no tenemos el tiempo.

Pues en realidad mantener una vida activa se refiere más bien a mantenerse haciendo actividades que pueden ser cotidianas, incluso dentro del hogar y que no requieren de secciones de tiempo especiales, a menos que usted necesite bajar algunas libras o mejorar su aspecto físico.

Si usted viaja al trabajo en auto, es recomendable que estacione su vehículo a unos cuantos bloques de distancia o si el estacionamiento es grande, estacionarlo en los parqueos más retirados, para que tenga la oportunidad de caminar un poco, al igual que al llegar a su casa.

De igual manera usted puede decidir subir por las escaleras que tomar el elevador. Si está en la casa una gran parte del tiempo, puede cambiar la posición de los muebles, reacomodar los closets y gavetas, bajar y subir todos los productos almacenados en la despensa, salir de compras o ir a ver tiendas.

Claro está, montar bicicletas, hacer ejercicios con un par de mancuernas que puede tener en cualquier rincón de la casa, puede ayudar un poco más.

Fortalezca esas piernas haciendo unas cuantas sentadillas entre cada comercial de la televisión y un par de abdominales después de cada cambio de programación.

Salir a caminar, nadar, bailar, son actividades que si podemos incorporarla a nuestra rutina diaria, nos convierten en una persona activa. Ah, y no se olvide de sacar a pasear al perro, también eso cuenta.

Debemos hacer de las actividad físicas un hábito, para mantener alejada las enfermedades de nuestro cuerpo.

Alert on the Ebola virus The New York City Department of Health released an alert to all of the hospitals and clinics, so that they remain vigilant against such an epidemic that threatens to spread across the world.

The Ebola virus is a highly contagious pathogen (illness causing organism) originating in West Africa, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Nigeria.

It especially affects humans, gorillas, chimpanzees, and monkeys after an acute viral infection that causes hemorrhagic fever, leading to death within a few weeks.

The persons most susceptible to this disease are those who travel constantly to sub-Saharan Africa and work with infected patients, such as laboratory staff and workers who come into contact with infected African monkeys.

How it is transmitted: The Ebola virus is transmitted by direct contact with the blood, tissues, secretions, and bodily fluids such as urine or fecal matter and infected medical equipment.

Symptoms H Sudden elevated fever H Muscle aches H Fatigue and weakness H Headache H Sore throat H Diarrhea and vomiting H Reddish eruptions on the skin H Internal and external bleeding (in some cases) Precautions If you are traveling to this part of sub-Saharan Africa or are in contact with people from this area, it is important that you keep a number of precautions to avoid being infected by accident: do not attempt to drink fluids from the same container as another person; eat foods, especially meat that has not been well cooked; share cigarettes; or exchange syringes.

If you notice that one of your loved ones is becoming forgetful, disoriented, is frequently staring into the void, confuses memories of recent events, has a problem with orientation, becomes moody, and has speech problems, it is possible that they are beginning to suffer from Alzheimer's disease.

Si vemos a uno de nuestros seres querido que se esta volviendo olvidadizo, desorientado, lapsos mentales, que se queda pensando lejos, memoria confusa de eventos recientes, problema de orientación, cambio de humor y problema del habla. Es posible que este empezando a padecer de la enfermedad de Alzheimer.

Quality of attention

Alzheimer's disease progressively deteriorates mental processes and eliminates the individual's memory, causing him/her difficulties in communicating, and brings with it a loss of control of all of their vital functions.

Studies show that adapting a healthy diet by reducing calories and carbohydrates and consuming Omega-3, fish, exercising, reading, and keeping your mind occupied with games of logic and puzzles can actually help. People who suffer from cholesterol can be candidates, and for that reason, a consistent diet should be kept as well as visiting your doctor regularly.

We do everything we can to keep ourselves in good health as a preventive measure. Diseases like Alzheimer's disease still have no cure, but we can avoid its effects if we uphold proper a diet, exercise, and consult our doctors.

Sexuality in adolescence For Parent of teenagers, especially girls, you should know they are considering making the most important decision of their lives to date. Their decision to start having an active sexual life is about to be made if it hasn’t already happened.

As a mother or father, it is natural that to be worried. This is why it is important that you begin to discuss this issue with your daughter or son to educate them about the risks that entails having sex without protection.

Advise them that before having sex, they must learn about the sexual history of their partner. If they have had many other relationships of that type, that he/she must learn to defend themselves and to not feel obligated to have a sexual relationship if they do not want to, to be sure that their partner doesn’t have any STD’s (sexually transmitted disease), even to get tested together and to share their results as the best vote of confidence between them.

Today, a large percentage of adolescents begin become sexually active very early. My recommendation without a doubt is abstinence, until a certain age and level of maturity reached; in reality this is only method that is 100% safe. However if your teenager is going to have sex (and many do without consulting you) then it is important that you have a discussion with them about protection BEFORE they have their first sexual encounter.

Everyone should be using condoms to prevent an unwanted pregnancy as well as STDs. To increase the effectiveness of condoms (about 85%) contraceptive cream, gel or suppository should also be used, and the condom must be on the partner before he touches her private area. But if you truly want your teenage to not get pregnant then she needs to use a much more effective agent. Current options can provide up to 99% effectiveness at preventing pregnancy, but these methods do not protect against infection so condoms need to be used as well.

The common sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) include Chlamydia, genital herpes, genital warts, gonorrhea, hepatitis B or C, HIV, syphilis. Help them avoid getting infections and make sure they have their vaccines up to date, such as hepatitis B and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).

There are many infections that do not produce symptoms, especially in women, for this reason, there should be periodic visits to the gynecologist or urologist from the moment that they begin to have sex. There are deadly infections such as HIV, but there are also others such as chlamydia, which can lead to sterility if not treated on time.

Luffa Vegetal Sponge The luffa plant is a very popular plant used as sponges for bathing. Some claim that they are more comfortable to cleanse the body of its dead skin, sweat, and grime.

However, according to the Huffington Post, a study published in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology stated that “these type of sponges usually accommodate and transmit a bacterium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa,” capable of transmitting diseases in animals.

This happens when we bathe and scrub our body with the plant, using it to scrub away impurities such as dandruff and dead skin. However, these impurities stay between the fibers of the sponge and we typically leave it in the bathroom.

The that is generated creates an ideal environment for bacteria, which feeds on organic matter and thrives. When you re-wet the sponge, it returns all of yesterday’s filth with the added risk that if you have an open wound, the bacteria can enter and make you sick.

Things you can do with your plant sponge:

H When you see that the color of the sponge changes, it is time to replace it.

The recommendations of the experts such as Dr. Jessica Krant is to try not to use the sponges of plant materials or ones made from rough materials in the shower. “Skincare should be smooth, non-aggressive; people wash in excess, thus eliminating the natural oils and moisturizers that keep the skin dry and crack,” she adds. Ingredients H 1 pound ground beef H 1 small onion, chopped H 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes H 1-3/4 cups water H 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste H 1 envelope spaghetti sauce mix H 1 egg, lightly beaten H 2 cups (16 ounces) fat-free cottage cheese H 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese H 6 uncooked lasagna noodles H 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese Instructions H In a large saucepan, cook beef and onion over medium heat until

meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the tomatoes, water, tomato paste and spaghetti sauce mix.

Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

H In a small bowl, combine the egg, cottage cheese and Parmesan cheese. Spread 2 cups meat sauce in a 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish coated with cooking spray.

Layer with three noodles, half of the cottage cheese mixture and half of the remaining meat sauce.

Repeat layers.

H Cover and bake at 350° for 50 minutes or until a thermometer reads 160°. Uncover; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Bake 10-15 minutes longer or until bubbly and cheese is melted.

Let stand for 15 minutes before cutting.

Fruits are part of a nutritional diet for human beings.

Fruits give us four very important elements that are synonymous with health: fibers, vitamins, water, and antioxidants.

1 The fibers help regulate the function of our gastrointestinal tract and help prevent and remedy constipation. Also, the fibers help reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood, the diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, and increase satiety (i.e., one feels less hunger).

2 Fruits give us vitamins. You need to consume more than three fresh fruits every day. The body needs vitamin C to produce collagen, a protein necessary for the healing of the wounds. It also helps the absorption of iron in the blood, and contributes to the smooth functioning of the immune system.

3 Fruits contain water, which facilitates the elimination of toxins from our body and keeps us hydrated.

4 Fruits contain antioxidants, which protect us from diseases related to the degeneration of the nervous system, cardiovascular diseases, and even cancer.

H Tiene orina de color amarillo oscuro en el pañal y que huele más fuerte de lo normal.

H Está aletargado y sin energía.

H Tiene la boca y los labios secos.

H No le salen lágrimas cuando llora.

Señales de que un niño puede estar gravemente deshidratado:

H Ojos hundidos H Las manos y pies se sienten fríos y parecen tener manchas.

H Somnolencia o nerviosismo excesivos.

H La fontanela (el espacio suave de su cabeza donde los huesos no se han unido por completo) se le ve hundida.

Aunque en muchas ocasiones con un contacto telefónico con su médico el le puede sugerir algún electrolito como Pedialyte, Infalyte y ReVital, no se puede descuidar ya que en caso severo su niño necesitaría ser ingresado, para ser hidratado de forma intravenosa.

La cantidad de liquido que se le debe administrar a tu bebé o a su niño dependerá de la edad y el peso del niño. No le dé medicinas que tienes guardada o compre medicina en la farmacia como antidiarreico, sin antes consultarlo con el pediatra del niño.
