DAVAO CITY – The hashtag #dutertepalpak went viral in social media after the State-run People’s Television Network (PTV-4) twitted a news saying President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the government to provide free face masks to all Filipinos while awaiting deliveries of Covid-19 vaccines. The tweet also mentioned BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, a popular seven-member South Korean boy band, alongside the #dutertepalpak which trended in Twitter. The hashtag has been used by Filipinos to criticize the government’s poor response to the pandemic since it began in March last year.
