Mimmo Parisi, in respect of this first book, said: "I started writing stories and I took a vacation from the songs, because the latter, it goes without saying, do not have the semantic space needed to achieve all-round a theme ".
The book has as leitmotiv everyday life in which the characters express their emotions, their dreams, their expectations. For this first test of fiction, "Racconti di periferia", Parisi chose the shape of the story because, like watching the American Edgar Allan Poe, is the form that is best suited to a writing that can be enjoyed while you are traveling or whilst waiting.
The 'periphery' in the title, rather than an urban place, wants to be a reference to the ordinary world, that gravity and realized alongside universe 'central' and ideal. It is a place, this, where the characters are neither heroes, nor illuminated by the spotlight. So, a 'periphery' felt as representative of the real world. Or, however, of what is thought to be the real world.
