Kamonda Posada By Mimi Zelman

How did you get star ted in this business? I have always desired to inspire and enrich other people’s lives. As a serial entrepreneur I have built many businesses around that desire. Being a life strategist and coach it was a natural progression for me to move into media. In 2013 I established New Word Media as a way to reach a broader audience. Since then I have been able to accomplish that Connect And Grow With Women In Our Community

goal through writing, speaking and television. What is your background-what were you doing before this business? I am an entrepreneur at heart and like many other entrepreneurs I also worked a full time job. I spent 18 years in the telecommunications industry learning such skills as project management, customer relations, sales, technical support and organizational

management which all have been a great asset in my entrepreneurial endeavors.

What is a good early story about your business? In April I launched a television talk show called Emerge 360° with K amonda Posada on Time Warner Access Channel 21. The show is designed to inform, inspire and empower while also shining a spotl ig ht on ordi nar y peo ple who d o ex t ra o rd i n a r y t h i n g s i n t h e co m munity and world. Prior to producing and hosting the show I had no experience in television. But, once I made the decision to follow my dream of having my own talk show, doors began to open and people who had the experience began to show up in my life; they came willing to help me fulfill that dream. I’ve h a d t h e p l e a s u re o f wo r k i n g with some great people and one of my mentors was Sarah Batista who is an award winning journalist and former WBTV Reporter. What is unusual or unique about your business, in comparison to yo u r co m p e t i to r s o r s i m i l a r businesses? Being a small multimedia company I believe my greatest asset is the flexibility and creative control I have over the content and what is produced. If something is not working I’m able to change it or tweak it until I get it right. I’m also able through social media to talk with my audience to

find out what their needs are and find ways to meet those needs. Whereas, larger media companies have lost touch with the very people they are suppose to ser ve. The majority of media now is cookie cutter, shock and awe, or just plain negative. I believe the larger media companies have disregarded the true value of human interest and storytelling. I am committed to creating meaningful and inspirational content through television, writing, speak ing, and publishing that will effect change and transformation in people’s lives and the world.

Is there a customer experience you are most proud of? I c a n’ t p i n p o i n t j u s t o n e c u s t o m e r e x p e r i e n c e t h a t I ’m m o s t p ro u d o f ; my p ro u d e s t m o m e nt s are when I receive a call from a coaching client who lets me know t h a t I h e l p e d t h e m t o o ve rc o m e a n d re a c h h i g h e r i n l i fe o r w h e n someone contacts me after reading a blog post or watching the show to let me know that it touched them i n s o m e w ay. Th o s e a re t h e b e s t moments. I take it as confirmation I’m on the right path and it motivates me to keep going. Do you do any charity or nonprofit work? I teach personal and career development courses at nonprofit organizations and in my personal life I help anyone in whatever way I can. www.womenwithknowhow.com JUNE 2014

Who are some of your most notable clients? My coaching clients sign a conf i d e n t i a l i t y a g re e m e n t s o I c a n’t disclose that information without their prior consent. However, a few years ago I owned a Holistic Interior Design Company named Geopology Designs. As the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte was being built. I had the opportunity to design one of the family suites. As a new designer it was an awesome experience. I learned a lot and my company’s name is forever on a plaque in the entryway of the house. What is an interesting story about a client interaction you had? I’m a naturally curious person so I find everyone, client or not interesting. I love getting to know people and hearing their stories. Most recently on Emerge 360° with Kamonda Posada I inter viewed a guest who lost over 250 pounds. His journey was interesting to me and I hope it will be to viewers as well. What are some of your greatest challenges in your business? I don’t look at things from the perspective of problems or challenges. I stay focused on solutions. As a business owner you have to be a cre ative solutionist and not allow small things to distract you. There is always a way to overcome; you simply have to look at the situation from a different perspective.

Wh a t wo u l d yo u m o s t l i ke t h e reader to know about your journey in business? I’ve learned a lot and I know I have even more to learn. But, I would most like readers to not worry about failing in business or life. A failure is only a failure if you failed to learn something from the experience. Instead of focusing on the perceived failure, focus on the lessons you’ve learned and the experience you’ve gained, and then take that information and create the success you truly deserve. Ever y life experience, sk ill you’ve learned, gift and talent you possess can be and should be used to create the life you want to live. Also, if you have a dream never give up on it, sometimes you may need to take a step back, reevaluate your direction, and set new goals but never give up! Start before you’re ready. There will never be a perfect time so don’t wait for it. Just get started! Kamonda Posada New Word Media Charlotte, NC Phone: 704.968.1046 Email: info@kamondaposada.com Web: www.kamondaposada.com

HOW TO BE DIVORCED & ENJOY YOUR SUMMER

By Leigh Sellers

M

ore and more we are seeing Judges order and parents request one half of the child’s summer vacation.

Traditionally, when primary parenting by one person, usually the Mother, was the norm, the other parent would ask for and receive one or two weeks of uninterrupted time in the summer. As joint parenting increases and parents share custody, summer time seems to be increasing in duration with the parent who does not have primary custody during the school year. Some Judges are ordering one half the summer break to the non primary custodian even in cases where they aware sole custody to the other parent. The courts order these lengthy periods of time over the summer to allow a parent who is not primary during the school year a change to actually parent on a daily basis over a consistent period so that the primary parent dose not become the rule maker and the secondary parent become the fun parent. The goal is to provide both children time to have a meaningful relationship with both parents as they grow.

Connect And Grow With Women In Our Community

This can lead to frustration and anxiety for a primar y parent and children who have to work their social life and plans around a parent or judge imposed schedule. Every family situation and ever case is unique. The parenting schedule for children and parents differs dramatically based on the age of the children, their relationship with their respective parents, the location of the two households and activities and traditions surrounding the children’s summer breaks that exist from prior to the breakup like camps, trips to relatives and swim teams. Transition can be difficult for children and parents, but most overcome any related transitions issues very quickly. Whatever your schedule, there are some basic things to keep in mind to make the summer transition easier in your household for you and your children. 1. The more stressed the parents, the more stressed the children. This can be lessened by keeping communication flowing before the summer starts and during the summer between the parents and the child/ children involved.

2. S h a r e i n f o r m a t i o n a b o u t scheduled activities and summer plans as soon as they have been made or need to be made with the other parent. Confer prior to making the plans if possible to prevent duplication. Share addresses and phone numbers of vacation spots without being asked. If you are arranging work related child care, share that information as well.

involved not feel so proprietary over the time period. Too often parents talk about “my time”. The purpose is “our time.”

3. Try to make the goal to have the children have a great break from school and to share time with both parents. Focusing on the children’s time instead of making it Mom or Dad’s time can help ever yone

Versatile Salmon

Y

ou’ve probably heard that eating seafood rich in heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids can help protect against heart disease while delivering other important nutrients. In fact, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends eating seafood twice a week for such benefits. Salmon is one fish long-heralded for its nutritional value, and Alaska canned salmon offers a convenient way to add more deliciously nourishing seafood to your diet.

18

Connect And Grow With Women In Our Community

Whether your tastes lean toward a traditional croquette drizzled with a light dill sauce, or a refreshing take on a pesto pasta salad, canned salmon is easy to prepare and surprisingly versatile. Because canned and pouched salmon is shelf-stable, you can always have some on hand for a quick, tasty meal or flavorful snack. At the grocery store, simply look for “Alaska” on the lid or label to ensure a top-quality, wholly natural product with nothing added but a pinch of salt for flavor.

These recipes showcase how Alaska canned salmon can be adapted to a wide range of meals and lifestyles, from the indulgent to the über-healthy. For additional preparation tips and recipes, visit HYPERLINK “http://www. wildalaskaseafood.com” www.wildalaskaseafood.com. The Many Benefits of Salmon Alaska canned pink salmon has four times the omega-3s EPA and DHA, and 12 times the vitamin D as many popular canned meats and fish. It also has 25 percent of adults’ Recommended Daily Allowance for calcium and nearly

meets the daily reference amount for selenium. Traditional pack canned salmon contains skin and delicate, edible bones that are rich in calcium and magnesium. Pressure-cooked in the can, they are so soft they can be easily blended into the salmon, adding extra nutrients and flavor. Skinless, boneless Alaska salmon is also available in cans and pouches. Pink salmon — the variety commonly found in cans — has a light color and mild flavor, while red salmon (or sockeye) has a richer, more intense flavor and color.

How Women Really Make a Difference By Terri Bennett

W

e h ave h e a rd a l o t this week about the power of women. We’ve h e a rd h ow we’ve impacted the presidential election and many close statewide races. But today, I’m not talking about the power of women politically. I want to talk about the power of women when it comes to creating healthier homes, demanding safer products, and ultimately creating a more sustainable lifestyle for our families. Do Your Part and realize the big impact you have – today. Women do most of the shopping and that gives us enormous buying power. We control the purse strings. Whether it’s groceries or cleaning products or clothes, even big-ticket items such as appliances and furniture, women make decisions for roughly 85 cents of every dollar spent for the home. That is spending power and it has a big influence on what ends up on store shelves. We need to use that power to support products that won’t pollute our bodies, our children, our homes, or the environment.

24

Connect And Grow With Women In Our Community

When you make a purchase, here are a few things to consider: Is it really safe? If a product is on the shelf, it must be safe to buy, right? After all, we have the FDA and the EPA to protect us. The government looks after these things, doesn’t it? This is a huge misconception. Chemical and personal care products are not regulated. No one oversees chemical manufacturing. We’ve given the chemical companies all the power to claim a product is safe and it has been demonstrated more than once that this is a dangerous assumption. Not all corporations use their power responsibly. Look at the bottom of this post for more help determining what’s really in the products you buy. Where does this product come from? Products coming into this country arrive with a lot of unknowns. In the case of food, for example, has the produc t been genetically modified? What kinds of chemicals were used in the growing process? Has it been irradiated?

What are the trade practices? If you purchase produc ts that originated outside of America, make sure you know exactly what your dollars are supporting. When given the choice, choose products that are made in America. They help protect and create jobs and are generally safer. Will it recycle? When you shop, keep your recycling habits in mind. Choose products made from recycled materials or from materials that you can recycle – ideally both. Choosing items with the

least amount of packaging will also help you do your part to generate less waste. How we spend our dollars tells manufacturers that we either suppor t what they are doing, or that we don’t. When we choose to buy more eco-friendly items we are making a statement and manufacturers listen. That’s one powerful way to Do Your Part each time you go shopping.

Fuss-Free

Summer Beauty Tips

T

o make the most of your carefree summer days (and nights), try this fuss-free beauty routine that is low on time and big on impact.

Summer is an ideal time to embrace your natural beauty. A healthy, natural glow sans heavy makeup and pretty wind-tousled hair are the hallmark looks of summer. With these tips from the hair removal experts at the maker of Nair™, keep your beauty rituals to a minimum and get ready to enjoy all that summer has to offer. Protect your Skin: Your skin’s biggest enemy this summer? You guessed it - damaging UV rays. It’s critical to incorporate sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 into your daily beauty routine. And, remember to reapply liberally throughout the day. Keep it Smooth: It’s bathing suit season again. Frequent hair removal treatments at your salon can add up. For easy at-home hair removal that provides expert results, blogger and lifestyle expert Carmen Ordonez, founder of the blog “Viva Fashion,” recommends using Nair Sprays Away Max Moroccan Argan Oil to stay smooth all summer long. Infused with 100 percent natural Moroccan Argan Oil, the convenient spray allows for a precise, no-touch application for minimal mess and smooth skin that last days longer than shaving.

26

Connect And Grow With Women In Our Community

Manage the Shine: Skip liquid foundation alto gether and opt instead for a bronzing powder for a natural, sun-kissed look. Don’t forget to start with clean skin, using oil-free cleansers and moisturizers. Move over Matte, Hello Gloss: For your lips, forego heavy cream and matte lipsticks in favor of light and fun glosses and balms. A wide range of options let you go nude and natural by day, and add drama with deeper shades and shimmer for night. Waterproof: Choose waterproof and smudge-proof cosmetics for your eyes to minimize damage and streaking from sweat, humidity or even a refreshing dip in the pool. For a fresh daytime look, stick with pretty neutrals that enhance your natural coloring. Condition Less: Heat and humidity can wreak havoc on your hair. Want to avoid limp locks? Skip the daily conditioning and switch to a weekly deep conditioner to maintain moisture while still pumping up the volume on your tresses. Before I knew it, my passion for learning about these things and sharing it with other people blossomed into a business. It was really satisfying to be able to help others get in a position where they could further their lives in one way or another – and it only made it better that, in the process, I was able to live the life I wanted to live.

How did you get started? I became a Cer tified Housing Counselor in 2006, and I was coaching homeowners in accumulating and straightening out their credit. I absolutely loved it. I continued to educate myself on the ins and outs of lending, and in 2010, I started offering business credit and funding consultation services as well. I already had a background in real estate, and so I found

Everyone has their own roadblock, something that prevents them from taking that crucial first step. Most people are afraid to start; they may fear the unknown or failure, or even success. I was afraid of succeeding. When I sat back and thought about everything that could come with success – I started to doubt whether I’d be able to handle it. And looking back, I laugh at the person I was then. Because now I’m so confident in my ability, and of the abilities of the talented, hard-working people I encounter. So I want people to know that my journey was not easy. I had to overcome obstacles within myself, and those put in front of me – but I kept pushing forward. And that’s what anyone reading this needs to remember. Keep pushing forward.

Who would you describe as your mentor(s) and why? Gloria Mayfield Banks has been my mentor for the last 20 years. She has consistently beaten the odds to achieve phenome nal success in her life and business. She truly leads by example with her high energy and training methods. What’s on your bucket list and why? I absolutely have to write and publish a b o o k . I fe e l t h a t my story could definitely inspire women all over to do and be more. Plus, it would be nice to have a book to

help me reflect on all that I’ve been through and accomplished. Any difficult times you’d care to share with our readers?? And if so what lesson have you learned? When I decided to star t a business, I was married, work ing full time and raising two young children. I felt over whelmed. I felt discouraged. What I learned is that as a woman – especially as a working mom and wife, you wear a l o t o f h a t s . B u t t h a t d o e s n’ t mean that you can’t have some thing for yourself. And I learned the impor tance of asking for help w h e n y o u n e e d i t a n d t h a t i t ’s sometimes necessar y to say “No”. If you could do one thing differently in your life, what wo u l d t h a t b e ? I would have definitely pursued my dreams earlier on. I would have spent more time figu r i n g o u t w h o I wa s a n d w h at I wa nt I wa nte d o u t o f l i fe, a n d I would have went for it. What do you wish you k new 20 years ago? What is something people would be surprised to know about you? As much as I love to help people now, at one point in my life, before I had children, I was very selfish. Very. Thanks goodness for growth. What inspires you? What makes you laugh? Challenges inspire me. They push me to understand and do more. I laugh at a bunch of stuff. I can’t really pinpoint one particular thing, but I love to laugh and have a good time. If you could stand up and defend anything, what would it be? 7 Life Questions to Effect Change in Your Life Kamonda Posada

W

hen initiating change in your life there are some important questions you should ask yourself. The answers to these questions may not be something you’ve consciously thought of before, but they are an important starting point in the process of change and for living life on purpose. 1. What do I really want? Sounds like a simple enough question, r i g h t ? B u t , h ave yo u t a k e n t h e time to think about what it is you really want? Most would probably say they want a new car, a bigger house, or a better job. However, for those who are committed to living a life of purpose the answer to this question should go a little deeper. Don’t get me wrong, those are great things to want, but you’re just skimming the surface. Dig a little deeper and really take time to discover your heart’s desire. 2. Should I really change? If you’re unhappy with the way things are in 38

your life right now, why wouldn’t you want to things to change? You have the power inside of you to change your life; now is the time to activate that power. Instead of doing what you’ve always done. Start by making small choices in a different way, eventually those new choices and decisions will create huge change in your life. 3. What’s the point to all of this? It’s your life! I know its a little cliché, but you only have one life to live, so LIVE it. It ’s all in the way you see things. If you focus only on the negative things in your life, you’re going to continue to draw negativity to you. When you focus on the positive, even when things appear not to be going so well, you release the positive energy needed to turn that situation around. As your thoughts change, your attitude changes, and you’ll begin to see things in a new way. 4. Am I comfortable with what I ’m d o i n g ? I f y o u ’r e c o m f o r t able, you’re not living at your full

capacity. Breakout of your comfort zone and stretch yourself. Do something you’ve never done before. Pick up a new hobby, enroll in a new class, or start that business you’ve been dreaming of. It’s not enough to go through life comfortable or just going through the motions. You should be passionate about what you’re doing. 5. Have I done enough for myself? When we neglect ourselves in our efforts to take care of everyone else it can be emotionally, mentally, spiritually and even physically draining. Take a step back and find some ME time. Do something that is just for you. Start to put your own well-being first, and soon you’ll be able to see yourself doing things you couldn’t have imagined before. 6. What motivates me? This can be a tough one. I believe when you k now what motivates you; you’ll k now how far you are willing to go to accomplish your dreams. Motivation ignites the fire which enflames the passion you need to accomplish whatever it is you’ve set your mind to. Only you know what motivates you. Take time to explore this important question. 7. How much could I have? You can have as much or as little as you desire. It ’s up to you. If you have a mentality that you’ll never have

enough, you’ll continue to struggle. Don’t focus on what you don’t have, give thanks for what you do have. and you’ll begin to see that you already have more than enough. Begin to envision the things you want and not just material things. But envision having peace in your life, envision your health improving, your business prospering, your children succeeding, and you will have those things in your life. Oh course, this is not a comprehensive list of life questions. But, I hope these questions have started you think ing a little deeper and provided a pathway, you may not have even known you were looking for. Six Tips Every Woman Should Take to the Doctor for her Next Checkup For women today, a yearly checkup with your healthcare provider is an essential part of maintaining your fertility health at every age. The maker of First Response™ the leading brand of pregnancy tests, has asked their panel of experts to share tips every woman should take to her doctor to maintain optimal fertility health at every age. Tip #1: Understand Your Ovulation Cycle: Understanding your ovulation cycle is a simple and basic step in maintaining good overall reproductive health, especially for women who are trying to get pregnant. A recent study conducted by the maker of First Response and researchers from Yale School of Medicine revealed that 40% of women were not aware of the timing of ovulation in relation to their period, and 60% incorrectly believed that intercourse should be timed after ovulation to maximize chance of conception. To alleviate the guesswork and stress around a woman’s cycle, First Response has introduced their new global smartphone app, the First

42

Response Tracker, available for iPhone and Android users. The app not only keeps track of a woman’s period and ovulation cycles, but also calculates her most fertile days and, if pregnant, will estimate how far along she is and predict her due date. Tip #2: Your Sexual History will Impact Your Fertility Future: Knowing your sexual history and having an open line of communication with your doctor can help improve your ability to conceive. Dr. Mary Jane Minkin, clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale University School of Medicine says, “Whether or not you’re trying to get pregnant, it is important to know your body and to have a good relationship with your OB/ GYN – you should never feel intimidated or embarrassed to talk about your sexual activity, menstrual cycle and health. If you are trying to get pregnant, knowing your history will help your doctor discuss a specific fertility plan, and help you make any lifestyle changes that will best condition your body and overall health for your pregnancy journey.”

Tip #3: Know the Risks Before You Begin Trying: Be aware of potential risk factors and take action before you and your partner begin trying to get pregnant. Unless you and your partner are paying for lengthy medical tests and procedures, there is no way to know whether you will struggle to conceive. But before running to your doctor, be aware of a few important factors that may affect your ability to conceive. As Barbara Collura, President/CEO of RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association explains, “The guidelines state that you should seek the advice of a fertility specialist if you are under 35 and have been trying to get pregnant for 12 months or over 35 and have been trying for 6 months, but factors such as being overweight or underweight, tobacco and alcohol use, and prior health issues such as surgeries can all impact your fertility and chances of conception.”

Tip #4: A Healthy Combination of Good Medical, Mental and Financial Health is the Cornerstone to a Positive Family Planning Experience: When it comes to trying to get pregnant, being in good health is not just physical – it’s mental and financial too. “Planning to start your family is an important conversation for both partners to have so they can get on the same page about the major issues and responwww.womenwithknowhow.com JUNE 2014

sibilities of raising a child. Seeking the counsel of your physician for preconception care and taking folic acid before you are pregnant are important early steps to take,” says Dr. Diane Ashton, VP for Health Equity and Deputy Medical Director of Medical Affairs at the March of Dimes. “In addition to going to the doctor and making important lifestyle changes, budgeting for baby, and making sure you are both emotionally ready to balance your careers and free time with having a family is also very important.” Tip #5: Talk to your Healthcare Provider, at least Once a Year: Your healthcare provider plays an important role in your journey, from pre-conception and through pregnancy and birth. Surprisingly, the Yale study revealed that 50% of women had never discussed their reproductive health with their medical provider, showcasing the need for more conversations between doctors and patients. Dr. Elizabeth Yepez, a board certified OB/GYN and Clinical Instructor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Medicine says that, “Our role as medical professionals is to provide an open forum for women to communicate and be engaged and informed about their health and lifestyle choices, and to ultimately empower them to make 44

decisions about their health and well-being.” Tip #6: Know Sooner: When it comes to fertility and conception, it’s more important than ever to know the facts and the risks sooner for a less stressful conception journey. Confirming pregnancy as soon as possible is important for women to make lifestyle changes and initiate prenatal care as close to conception as possible. To best help women get the answers they need sooner there is , First Response Gold™ Digital Pregnancy Test and Early Result Pregnancy Tests, which were both cleared by the FDA to determine if a woman is pregnant up to six days sooner than her missed period and with over 99% accuracy. 5 Ways

to Make a Big Impact with Your Small Business

When it comes to offering specialized, one-on-one support and niche product offerings, nothing beats shopping with a locally-owned small business.

In a recent survey fielded by The UPS Store to get the pulse of business in America, 94 percent of consumers believe that supporting small companies within their community is important. The survey also found that consumers are increasingly willing to spend more money and travel further out of their way to shop with a small business. “We know that small businesses are a vital part of our neighborhoods and our entire economy,” said Tim Davis, president of The UPS Store. “Small business owners, from startups to well-established neighborhood businesses, have the ability to make a big impact within their community and beyond.” As an entrepreneur, you may wonder how you can cash in on this rising popularity and expand your own enterprise to reach these quality-seeking customers. Here are a few ways to make a big impact with your small business: 1. Go above and beyond for customers

46

Connect And Grow With Women In Our Community

While it seems companies keep getting bigger, instances of excellent customer service seem to be dwindling. Due to this widespread lack of quality, many individuals are choosing to support small business when it comes to obtaining what they need. Small companies have the unique opportunity to provide one-on-one attention to their customers. Those who excel at enticing and ser ving customers set themselves apart from the competition. 2. Get involved in your community Some of the best marketing you can provide your small company is with involvement in philanthropic e f fo r t s i n yo u r l o c a l co m m u n i t y. Though restric ted budgets cause some small businesses to keep charity to a minimum, there are a variety of other meaningful ways to show your organization’s generosity. Give your time to charitable causes related to your field. For example, if you sell pet products, offer to volunteer at a local animal shelter. Or, if your field is architecture, get your company involved in organizations that build homes for families in need. If you have

employees, encourage them to also help out. Sponsor a company-wide volunteer event at a local food pantry or offer paid time off for such charitable endeavors. 3. Make produc ts and ser vices stand out As a small business owner, you have the advantage over big box stores who lack specialized knowledge. Offer your customer base a niche product or service that can’t be found elsewhere. Give them quality, both in the product and customer support, and your business will reap the rewards of happy, repeat customers and word-of-mouth promotion. If you offer several products, but find that most customers want only one or two offerings, focus on increasing the quality on that area of business. 4. Share your knowledge through education and mentorship As a small business owner, you offer those within your community a unique background and expertise. One of the easiest ways to give back is by educating eager minds interested in your field. Whether lecturing at the local college or getting involved in a mentorship program, presenting yourself as a respected colleague not only sheds a positive light on your company, it also helps you build relationships. These relationships can be informal or you can team up with an organization like SCORE to volunteer as a mentor. For more information, visit www.score. org.

5 . E x p a n d yo u r re a c h t h ro u g h technology Social media allows small businesses to reach a global population like never before. Start small with just one social media outlet and then build on your presence from there. If you have a marketing team, ask that they maintain the account, or hire an outside consultant. Your website is also a powerful tool, so make sure it reflects your business in the way you want to be portrayed. Regularly update your site to keep it current with the changing times. Also, make sure your website is optimized so more people looking for your unique products and services can easily find you. For other tips for growing your business, visit www.smallbiz.theupsstore.com. Small Business, Big Impact For The UPS Store small business customer and author Fred Koehler, making an impact on people’s lives is what gives him genuine satisfaction. “My small business is not as small as you might think. Through the stories I tell, I get to impact the lives of parents and kids all around the world.” This celebrated children’s book author of “How to Cheer Up Dad” believes that being an active community member has shaped his success, expanding his business to new heights.
