Extended Project Qualification
We encourage our students to do an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Equivalent to half an A Level, the EPQ offers a unique opportunity to write a 5,000 -word dissertation on a topic of your choice. Completing an EPQ can lead to lower university offers, and students who do so are more likely to earn a first or 2:1 degree.
Scholars’ Programme
Our Scholars’ Programme is designed for top GCSE achievers aiming for the most selective universities. It enhances critical thinking and prepares you for entrance tests and interviews. As part of the Scholars Programme, you will visit Oxford, Cambridge, and other Russell Group universities.
Our A Level students can opt to study Latin, which boosts vocabulary, strengthens language skills, and is especially useful for those pursuing English or Law. Additionally, Latin is an impressive addition to your CV or personal statement.

HEAR FROM OUR STUDENTS…
PAST AND PRESENT
Student of the Year 2025
The Students of the Year Awards are a highlight of the College calendar where we celebrate and are inspired by the achievements of our students over the last 12 months. A Level student Ciara-Leigh Filer-Hobbs was our 2025 overall winner: Ciara is among the first students at the College to study A Levels, taking maths, Business, and Computer Science. She has been accepted into the Scholars’ Programme, is working towards her Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award , and has chosen to complete an Extended Project Qualification, which involves writing a 5,000-word dissertation on a topic of her choice.
I’m so grateful and so shocked to be picked from such an amazing group of individual winners and I’m very proud. I always had it rough in school, I was so scared that I would end up doing nothing with my life even though I’ve always loved education. Now I’m at college and I just love learning here. Everyone is so supportive, and I feel like I’m right back where I should be.

“The resources are industry-level, so you build real-world skills.”
“Everyone’s respectful and friendly so it’s easy to feel at home.”

“The teachers are really supportive and the environment is kind and welcoming.”
“You can truly express yourself here; it’s a great place to study.”
“Diversity and inclusivity are celebrated. You can just be who you are.”
BREAKING STEREOTYPES
Maria-Belle, our student of the year for construction, is loving completing her T Level in Design, Planning and Surveying. MariaBelle is completing her industry placement with MJ Construction, where she is gaining valuable experience working closely with the sustainability team, an area she is particularly passionate about.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE THINKING ABOUT COLLEGE?

“I’d say don’t stress it too much. I feel like for a lot of people who join the College, it’s the only thing on their minds. Instead think about how much other stuff you can enjoy while you’re here, the people and the experiences. Do the work but also make time for doing what makes you happy. Have fun with it as well!”

See your child’s attendance and punctuality records.
Track their progress and achievements across their course.
Stay up to date with important dates, events and announcements.

And of course, we’re always here to talk. If you have questions or would like to discuss your child’s progress in more detail, our dedicated Parents and Carers page on the website makes it easy to get in touch with our team. COMMUNITY DAY COLLEGE IN THE
At Milton Keynes College, education goes beyond the classroom. Each year, our College in the Community Day sees staff and learners step out of routine to support Milton Keynes. On Wednesday 25 March 2026, we’ll join local charities, community groups, and environmental projects; this is our way of saying thank you and making a positive difference where it matters most.
For our learners, the day is much more than volunteering. It’s an opportunity to:
Develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills in real world settings.
Gain hands-on experience that builds confidence and resilience.
Make new connections and strengthen their sense of belonging within the community.
Contribute to causes that have a real and lasting impact.
By working alongside staff and local organisations, students see first hand how their time and energy can change lives and in turn, discover more about themselves.
In 2025 more than 1,100 staff and student volunteers took part in over 50 community activities delivered across Milton Keynes.
