port of their loved ones is what propels us forward.
Mill Steel is pleased to announce the successful transfer of ownership from our CEO and Chairman David Samrick to President Pam Heglund. Pam, along with fellow owners – Joe Poot, Rob Vella, and Marc Rabitoy – will carry forward the Samrick Family legacy of exemplary service and people first culture. Since Harry Samrick founded the company in 1959, Mill Steel’s vision has been clear: grow to be the best. Over the past 60+ years we’ve expanded our volume, processing capabilities, and footprint, but our definition of best was never tied to the size of the company – “best” has always meant unparalleled service to our customers. To earn such a reputation of high service requires a great deal of time and effort from the entire Mill Steel team and the families supporting them from behind the scenes. The collective contributions of our team and the sup-
A sincere thank you to Susan Samrick and David’s children, Elizabeth and Andrew, to whom he credits his success. Thank you for believing in David and supporting him through all of the ups and downs that accompany running a business. We would be remiss not to also thank Bill Buck and his family for their contributions as well. Bill played a large role in shaping Mill Steel early on and remains a loyal friend of David's and the company. He will sit on the Board alongside David and Pam.
We would not be where we are today without the extraordinary leadership of David Samrick. From unloading the first pound of steel in 1963 to becoming President in 1976, David has profoundly impacted Mill Steel over the past 57 years, and this transition is another selfless gift to the company. His keen market insight, vision for geographic expansion and strategic capital investments have positioned Mill Steel to flourish for years to come. In fact, we’ve experienced 12% growth annually under his direction. David helped create a thriving culture and exemplified what it means to be a family owned company through his actions. We’re grateful that he remains a resource for our team and look forward to his continued en-
gagement and insight into the future of Mill Steel. Mill Steel is equally fortunate to have Pam as David’s successor. Pam grew up in the company under David’s mentorship and has worked in almost every department of Mill Steel, garnering unique insight into the business along the way. Over a decade of executive commercial management as Vice President of Sales and Partner positioned her for the role of President. As demonstrated in her direction over the last five years as President, it’s clear that Pam is charting the same path of success for Mill Steel. She continues to deliver steadfast leadership with a keen attention to customer service and culture. “David and I have always shared the belief that the culture of the company is a key driver of its success. Treating people equitably and creating a place they want to come to work each day is so important. If you have a talented and motivated team, the business success will follow,” noted Pam. This transition will be seamless for our associates, customers, suppliers and business partners. It’s a celebration of Mill Steel’s strong history as a family-owned company and an affirmation of the bright future ahead. We look forward to continuing growing to be the best with thankful hearts.
