9 Ways to cleanse your life easily The symbolism of rebirth and new life that is synonymous with the spring season can be applied to the mind. Spring can be the perfect time to detox your mind, reenergize your routine and mindset, and assess what in your life is working — and what isn’t. With a little guidance, you can make your routines more efficient and energizing, and let go of any habits, beliefs, or parts of your life that are no longer serving you — to make space for what is new and fresh. Just like when you go on a detox diet to flush out the toxins from your body and cleanse your internal organs, it’s also helpful to flush out toxins from the mind. Mental and emotional toxins often go unnoticed, but they are just as essential to tidy up given the era of digital overload we live in and the busyness our lives can become.

Simplify your diet

Spend time in silence When’s the last time you actually sat in silence and did nothing? Yes, I mean without the TV on or Instagram pulled up on your phone. Sitting in silence is one of the most crucial and effective things we can do to declutter the mind.

Detox your sleep

Sometimes we need a little extra focus on removing impurities in the mind, too. The goal of an emotional detox is not to totally totally get rid of negative emotions but rather to clear out emotions that are stagnant and no longer serving us.

07

Get some indoor plants You don’t have to have an inherent green thumb to know that plants bring, attract, and give off good energy. It’s believed that they ease stress, purify the air, boost creativity, and help increase productivity. Donate “excess” clothes Even your clothing items should bring value to your life: a necklace that makes you happy or a dress that reminds you of that shopping trip you took with your mom. If they don’t, time to make room for something that will.

To fully achieve a cleansed life, you need to regularly get 7-9 hours of quality sleep a night. If you’re not waking up refreshed and staying energized throughout the day, your sleep

Limit stress and clear out negative emotions

08

Reassess your relationships Whether online or in real life, unfollow toxic people that drain your energy instead of lift you up. Make a list of the people you come in contact with most often, including friends, roommates, family, coworkers, etc., and ask how you feel being with each person.

09

Designate a techfree space

MILLESIMAL| PAGE 5

Sadly, technology is a big part of cleansing because it’s a big part of our lives. While tech is often unavoidable, try to designate one space in your home that’s tech-free. Having this tech-free space will remind you to have some “off” time every day

Healthy sleep routine In the midst of the pandemic, you might have more time for sleep, but sleep quality might still take a hit, thanks to added anxiety and stress from loneliness, health worries, financial concerns, and other issues. Nighttime routines also commonly factor into sleep quality, regardless of anything else happening in the world. Your activities during the evening hours can have a big impact on your ability to fall asleep and stay asleep each night.

Poor sleep can have plenty of health consequences, many of which you might worry about while lying awake. If you have trouble getting enough restful sleep on a regular basis, try exploring your pre-bedtime habits to identify potential problem areas and create a new routine that promotes better sleep.
