Welcome Welcome to our third issue of On the Move, our regular magazine bringing you the latest news and developments from Miller Homes.

So far 2018 has been a great year for us, and as my first in position as Regional Managing Director, Scotland, I’ve been fortunate to launch some exciting new developments.

In Edinburgh, we’ve announced some new communities including Miller Homes at Shawfair, a thriving new neighbourhood in the south east of the city, as well as Bonnington in Leith, a collection of one, two and three bedroom apartments, ideal for young professionals.

To the west of Scotland our Springhill Meadows development in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire,has been extremely popular and we’re continuing to see high demand for our homes at Wallace Fields in Robroyston and Keepers Gate at Ellismuir in Broomhouse. Take a look at our current developments on pages six and seven.

We’re also thrilled to unveil a brand-new collection of home styles at our Highbrae at Lang Loan development to the south of Edinburgh. These new four and five bedroom properties are ideal for growing families and their proximity to the City Bypass makes them the perfect commuter communities.

2018 has been a successful year for the Miller Homes team in Scotland. In June three of our site managers received an NHBC Pride in the Job award, showing the care and commitment they put into their role every day.

We were also crowned Housebuilder of the Year at the Homes for Scotland Awards, who described us as ‘honest and committed, with our passion and enthusiasm shining through’. You can read more about our recent award wins on page nine.

More about Ashludie Grange A picturesque development with both scenic views and excellent transport links, Ashludie Grange in Monifieth is a stunning place to call home. Award wins Five stars for customer satisfaction

Pride in the job Three is the magic number for Miller Homes with a trio of site managers recognised for their work in building new homes safely and to the highest quality at the NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Awards.

Calum Punton of Regents Gates in Crossgates, Derek Tait of Lady Victoria Grange in Newtongrange and Jim Martin of Ferrygate Meadow in North Berwick were all recognised with a Quality Award, one of the industry’s highest accolades.

Run by the HBF, the independent survey provides a guide for homebuyers in making purchasing decisions and to encourage high levels of service within the industry.

Calum will now go on to represent Scotland for the national Supreme Winner title at the Pride in the Job Gala Dinner, taking place in London on January 25th, 2019.

We wish Calum the best of luck ahead of the final round – he is extremely deserving of this accolade and we’re proud to have all three site managers on the Miller Homes team.

Beating off competition from over 16,000 other entries from across the UK, all three site managers progressed to the second round of awards where Calum Punton was one of 17 site managers that collected the highly-coveted Seal of Excellence award.

For almost 20 years, Miller Homes has also undertaken its own customer satisfaction surveys carried out by an independent research agency.

The survey is completed by customers once they have settled into their new home to evaluate their overall satisfaction before, during and after the home-buying experience. In the most recent survey, 93% of its customers stated they would recommend Miller Homes.

In which UK city was John Lewis first established?

Top marks in Barrhead The future looks bright after our trip to St Mark’s Primary School in Barrhead as we met pupils in the school’s technology club, who were keen to delve into details behind the creation of new homes.

Our Associate Technical Director, Tom Cahill, sat down with the class for a fun interactive workshop to give them an insight into how family homes are built, from the initial design plans to the materials used for construction and the building process itself.

Back to school We visited Caledonia Primary School in Baillieston for an interactive session with primary three pupils on the importance of health and safety around construction sites. The workshop was led by Health and Safety Manager, Scott Reid and Development Sales Manager, Fiona Mitchell, from the nearby Keepers Gate at Ellismuir development in Broomhouse.

The customer journey The buying process at Miller Homes is simple, meaning moving into your new place is smooth and stress free.

You’ve found your dream home, and you can’t wait to move in. The first thing you should do is speak to one of our Development Sales Managers to find out about the buying process.

First you need to secure an agreement in principle from your mortgage provider. Our team of Development Sales Managers can help refer you to a new-build mortgage specialist or financial advisor to help you along the way.

At this point you’ll also need to appoint a solicitor, again recommendations can be made if required.

Reserve your new home either online or in the marketing suite. We’ll hold the property for you and ask you to pay a reservation fee of £500, which will be deducted from the purchase price. If you reserve online the property will be held for 72 hours.

Not long after we’ll conclude missives and that’s when you pay a further deposit, which is again deducted from your purchase price.

The further on in the building process we are, the more accurate a move in date we can give. But even if work hasn’t started we can give you an indicative two month window and keep you regularly updated.

As work on your home progresses we’ll arrange a series of meetings to keep you up-to-date. When all the finishing touches are added we’ll be in contact to arrange full legal transfer of ownership, and then it’s over to you make your new house a home.
