Fox Sports aired a live broadcast and tribute to the troops at Naval Station Norfolk. Naval Station Norfolk, the world’s largest naval base, is celebrating its 100th anniversary and FOX Sports is honoring service members and veterans for Veterans Day.
Service members and veterans gathered in bleachers to participate in a live broadcast of FOX NFL Kickoff during the FOX Sports Veterans Day Salute. Fox Sports and Fox NFL Insider Jay Glazer hosted a Veteran’s Day UFC viewing party at Naval Station Norfolk, Nov. 11. On Sept. 6, Hurricane Irma, one of the most powerful storms in a century within the Atlantic, drove through the U.S. Virgin Islands as a Category 5 hurricane, damaging homes and businesses and displacing thousands of residences. Just weeks later on Sept. 20, Hurricane Maria, a Category 5 hurricane measuring 50–60 miles wide
Center for Security Forces (CENSECFOR) Learning Site Little Creek at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story hosted an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Nov. 7. Anthony Pettis and other UFC members took time to visit the Sailors and staff who teach the Navy’s Amphibious Ready Group/Marine Expeditionary Unit Visit Board Search and Seizure (ARG/MEU VBSS) Boat Crew course. On arrival, the group received a safety brief given by CENSECFOR Instructor Ryan McClellan and then donned protective gear provided by the site. The group boarded two 11-Meter Naval Special Warfare Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIB) and proceeded out on the Chesapeake Bay. The UFC visitors experienced not only the speed of the craft and its maneuvering capability at highspeeds, but also how it can go from high-speed to a complete stop in seconds. “The experience was amazing,” said Pettis upon returning pier side. “I didn’t know what to expect with

U.S. Representative Robert Wittman (R-VA) became the first elected official to visit the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) while the ship is underway Nov. 5–6. Wittman, the chairman of the House Armed Services Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, flew
aboard to meet Sailors and to observe Ford-class carrier operations. Upon arrival, the congressman was welcomed aboard by Ford Commanding Officer Capt. Richard McCormack, Executive Officer Capt.
