May 2018 Friends: As we approach Memorial Day, we remember all who have given their lives in service of this great country. We thank God for the many sacrifices made and remember that Father Capodanno requested to join the Navy to serve with our Marines in Vietnam, where he gave his life while providing comfort to the wounded and dying. Last year at this time supporters of the Guild numbered approximately 1400. Since the 50th Anniversary of Father Capodanno’s death and the viewing of the new documentary, Called and Chosen, that number has increased to over 2300, with nearly 70 being overseas. The Guild continues to gain more supporters as we take every opportunity to share his story. We now have a dedicated group of volunteers who are sharing Father Vincent's story across the nation and in Canada. These volunteers have delivered his story to almost 1800 people including: Marine recruits, grade school and high school students, Knights of Columbus Councils and Catholic Parish Groups. Currently, 14 more presentations are tentatively scheduled for the remainder of 2018. The new documentary on Father Capodanno's life has been a valuable instrument that continues to increase awareness of this truly holy man. EWTN is finalizing plans to air the documentary again on Veteran’s Day. The Guild is currently gifting the DVD for donations of $20, or more, see the information below: Called and Chosen, the Life of Father Vincent R. Capodanno http://capodannoguild.org
