The 9th SeptemberFest will take place Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 12:00 – 3:00 PM at the Prete-Metcalf Field located on 199 Hawkins Street, Providence. This is a free neighborhood event with free food, games and fun. Parents and guardians are asked to accompany children to this event. The rain date is Saturday, September 19, 2015 same time and location. In addition, informational tables will be organized by the Fire and Emergency Management Departments on fire prevention techniques and emergency evacuation procedures. Voter registration will also be provided by the Secretary of State's Office.

The board met July 20, 2015 to discuss the planning of the event and follow up with the previous donors to secure their donations and the success of the event. Councilman Narducci was assigned individuals and personal contacts previously contacted by Mike Narducci, to continue reestablished personal relationships. Trying to get new business into the neighborhood to improve the commercial sector of the community; a new nail salon is opening on Admiral St. At the corner with Hawkins; The application of the four stories, 124 rooms Value Place extended stay hotel at 181 Corliss Street (corner of W. River St. And Corliss Street) on the former site of abandoned postal, service building has been approved by the City Plan Commission. Councilman Nicholas "Nick" Narducci, Jr. And North End Community Action Committee navigating the permitting process to insure construction. Value Place, based in Wichita, Kansa plan to spend $10.4 million to buy the 2 acres plot and build the hotel.1 Charles Place apartment complex has been sold for $26 million purchase and rehabilitation price which will, preserve the 10 story 200 apartments building affordable apartments for elderly and disabled residents. The apartments were built in 1974 and no major rehabilitation has been undertaken since then. Standard Property Company a national real, estate Development Company based in New York and Los Angeles is the new owner, previously owned by H. Charles Tapalian2.

Been having conversation with Forekicks a developer of Indoor & Outdoor Sports Complexes about their interest to build a complex at the former American Tourister factory 70 Houghton St. Owned by the Providence Redevelopment Agency PRA, presently contaminated with hazardous substances with an area of 24.3 acres and includes the area of Whipple Pond and the West River, The city received a $400,000 EPA hazardous substance grant3 to clean up the parcel from heavy metal, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and volatile organic compounds, according to information from the city. Had a meeting with the Woodward Road residents to discuss the potential development and obtain feedback from them. In the past 15 years the residents have derailed development proposals in the property for: 1. Senior housing development, by the DaVinci Center 2. Low income housing by Constantino 3. High School building by the Providence School Department Secured a $25,000 CBDG funding for Chad Brown basketball improvement, and will have an official ribbon cutting August 12, 2015.4 Secured $50,000 CBDG funding for the Ascham St. Field for rehabilitation of the entire field5 The Greeley St. Housing Development is going very well; two of the properties have been sold and are looking to continue the process in other areas in the neighborhood under the City receivership program, and is looking at 605 Charles St as a potential site.

The CDBG money that used to be distributed among the councilors has been redirected to the Administration budget in the amount of $1.7 million and being distributed as follow: $400, 00 to 1

Councilman Nicholas "Nick" Narducci, Jr. And North End Community Action Committee fix fields around the city, $1 million for homeowners repair low interest program, and $325,000 to hire a consultant to review all abandoned properties across the city to develop a plan to address the necessary repairs.

I've been informed that there is a propagation of "Parvo" a highly contagious viral disease that can produce life-threatening illness in dogs. The virus attacks rapidly dividing cells in a dog's body, most severely affecting the intestinal tract Parvo also attacks the white blood cells, and when young animals are infected, the virus can damage the heart muscle and cause lifelong cardiac problems6. It's recommended that dog owners have theirs check by their veterinarian to avoid any problems and further spread of the virus. I'm also discussing with Florette Rugero to organize a pet day in the park and have pets examine.

Death in the family; we regret to inform you that after the meeting we were informed that Nancy Picard mother Dorothy Picard-Montour 93 passed away Thursday July 30th, 2015.

Nancy served as the committee Secretary for many years, and resigned earlier this year to focus her attention to her mother, see attached obituary. Our deepest condolences to her and her family Old Business

The conversation with TD Bank about a possible branch location on Branch Ave. has been stalled, and will inform the residents once it resumes.

Opera in the Park was once again a successful well attended event by the neighborhood residents.

Police Report It's been relatively quieter in the neighborhood except for a weapon being fired July 18, 2015, 3:30 AM on Ashten Street and although the police showed up, no casing were found or reported.

Based on the June meeting complaints about 62-64 Ledge St., I and Lieutenant Reddy spoke with Cross Roads RI and all the tenants explaining what is expected from them as neighborhood residents and asked for their collaboration with the rest of the residents quality of life. The situation has improved since our conversation, and the tenant dealing drugs has been evicted.

Councilman Nicholas "Nick" Narducci, Jr. And North End Community Action Committee The copper railing at the Windmill School was completely stolen in broad daylight and a white van was reported driven by a white man, and the suspicion is that it's William E. Hazard (see attached police sketch) the same person that was stealing the manhole covers and the brass railing at Waterplace park, who jailed last year but was recently released. Attached is the police sketch shared among the attendees in case you see him around, report him to the police.
