PROJECT IS DESCRIBED AS THE REMODEL OF AN EXISTING GROCERY STORE INTO A FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT CENTER THAT INCLUDES 6 AUDITORIUMS FOR CINEMA, TWENTY LANES OF BOWLING, ARCADE SPACE, REDEMPTION ROOM, BAR AREA, CONCESSIONS, TICKETING AND 2 SETS OF RESTROOMS.

REMODEL TO ALSO INCLUDE THE COMPLETE REMODEL OF THE FRONT FACADE OF THE BUILDING AS APPROVED BY THE CITY DESIGN REVIEW.

The purpose of this concept was to be able to help a potential client visualize the endless possibilities of design and propose a possible business model.

The mission: designing an enticing concept where one can run some errands and grab a drink at the bar while they’re at it.

Unlike many bars that allow pets, this bar contains grooming, pet sitting, and even a small vet clinic to accommodate its patrons.

COLUMBIA ART MUSEUM // STUDIO 4

Columbia, Missouri is a college town full of creative individuals that require cultural and social stimulation. At the corner of Broadway and Providence, a vibrant central location in downtown “COMO”, the site offers quick and easy access to all the popular spots in town. The building footprint is strategically shaved off at the southeast corner to protect the integrity of the neighboring historical church. The three modules that make up the structural components of the museum are tiered with different heights, rotating and connecting at corners, highlighting the best views in downtown Columbia. The mission: creating a hub that would attract many visitors while providing a cozy and inspirational environment for the dwellers of this vibrant and young demographic. Housing artworks of anyone who wishes to contribute, it is a designated hub for growing artists who seek to feel a sense of community.

The form was achieved by practicing folding pieces of paper and arranging them, combing multiple forms and giving it shape.

The floorplans are designed to guide the user throughout the building as if it were a maze. Each gallery space is unique, creating an engaging environment and taking the user on a self guided tour. At the end of the day, one might wish to relax and visit the rooftop cafe and lounge area which provides some of the best views in town over a colorful constellation of “glass shards.”

The galleries contain artworks from local artists and anyone who wishes to contribute and show off their talents. It’s not so much about the art itself, it’s about building a strong sense of community and culture within Columbia and inspiring young artists to pursue their talents regardless of where they are at within their personal journey.

STUDIO 3

Environmental Studies Magnet School is an institution that follows a specialized program, providing high schoolers with a rich educational experience. This project explores a site off the corner of Providence and Stewart road in Columbia, MO. Being a heavily wooded area near the popular Katy trail, it sits on several acres that can’t be clearly seen from the road, providing a secluded experience submerged in nature.

A clearing in the woods was a major factor in my decision to orient the center of the school to point towards it. To maximize the gorgeous views, the building wrapped in on itself, the cantilevered end pointing towards the trail. A walkway was provided for the students to be able to easily submerge themselves in their nature studies.

Leaving room for a raingarden, farming, solar power, wind power, and a green rooftop, students have plenty of resources to experience kinesthetic learning.`
