Hello everyone, The Carievale 4-H Beef Club of 2020-2021 consists of 7 cloverbuds, 10 juniors, 4 intermediates, and 2 seniors. We have our meetings on the second Monday of every month from October to May at the Carievale Golden Years Centre. This year we have learned about how to choose an animal, digestion, grooming, showmanship, judging, parasites, calving, managing the beef sire and breeding. Members presented a public speaking speech at our January meeting. Our club has been involved in district public speaking. Some members had their record books from last year go on to place at the district, regional and provincial levels. We also recently hosted a demo day at the Carievale Riding Arena Grounds for our members to practice their grooming, judging and showmanship skills. Since 2010, we have created an annual sales catalogue. The members write up their own descriptions with pictures of their steers and then we send them out to local businesses, who may be interested in purchasing a steer at the annual auction in Alameda. This year, due to COVID19, our sale will be moving to an online format. Thanks for your time in considering the purchase of a steer. Alameda Regional 4-H Sale June 12, 2021 Due to the current Provincial regulations regarding Covid19 physical distancing we have decided to host the Alameda Regional 4-H Sale as an online only auction. It will be a horse race style finish auction broadcast on DVAuction. For those of you not familiar with this style auction it is very similar to a silent auction style. The steers will sell BY THE HEAD this year instead of by the pound. The amount that you bid is what you will pay. All steers will be weighed using the Chopper K Auction Mart scale within one week of the sale to give you an idea of what they weigh. For those wishing to resell the steers there will be a sale in Alameda at Chopper K the week following the online auction. To get in on the auction all you have to do is follow these simple instructions: 1. Give Sarah Buchanan a call at (306) 681-5340 and she will set you up as quickly and easily as possible or you can create an account at www.dvauction.com under the “registration” tab. The registration process is free and we recommend you do this as soon as possible. You have to be registered to apply for bidder approval. 2. Apply for bidding approval by clicking on the “details” tab at least 24 hours prior to the auction. You will be notified once you are approved. 3. Find the “Alameda Regional 4-H Online Sale” to view the entire sale offering videos. 4. Place your bids between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm Saskatchewan time on June 12th. 5. Proxy bidding- if you can’t make time to keep an eye on the sale or be available for the close out, register a proxy bid and let the DVAuction system represent your bid while you are away. Look for the “proxy bid” tab on the auction listing and fill in your maximum bids. DVAuction will handle the rest in strict confidence. 6. All Lots will close at the same time (7:00 pm). Bidding will be extended by 5 minutes if a bid is placed on any lot within 5 minutes of the closing time. The sale will continue until 5 minutes have passed with no bids being placed. 7. Have some fun and don’t hesitate to call or text Jason Frey-Alameda Club (306)485-7230, Denise Allum-Carnduff Club (306)483-7219, Clark Hill-Alida Club (306)452-7866 or Teresa Cowan-Carievale Club (306)482-8333 with any question you have about the offering.
