Kovan, as one of Hougang's oldest neighborhoods, is well-known for having a large elderly population. In its favor, the site is surrounded by an array of residential areas, such as HDB, condos, and even schools. With that, I am primarily targeting the elderly, then people of all ages. The main issue I will tackle is the lack of elderly facilities in the neighborhood. According to site analysis, there were many more elderly spotted during the day when they were just casually walking around. In order to solve the issues, I will be creating a communal space for the elderly in relation to my SDG goal 9 of reducing inequality. to maintain social mobility for the older generation, especially when there is a rapid increase in the aging population in Singapore. SDG 11 is also about sustainability in cities and communities. It aims to transform cities into an enabling place for seniors to live independently and comfortably while remaining integrated in the community through the provision of contemplative spaces and activity zones.
My proposed programs are catered to the elderly, such as an exercise area for active anti-aging in Singapore, chess and board games that prevent dementia, a study area for introverts and extroverts, pet therapy for the benefits of mental health, volunteering, and gardening to allow them a sense of achievement. Looking into my concept, I took into consideration something we do or use in common. Tea. As to why tea? It is a common language that is widely used around the world, mainly to bring everyone together. Not only do they have health benefits, such as lowering the risk of chronic diseases, but they also aid in relaxation and peace of mind. Moving into the tea tradition, there are plenty of traditions. How all these tea traditions started off with tea leaves Harvesting, steaming, oxidizing, and drying are all steps in the tea-making process, and they apply to all tea leaves, with which the tea traditions share a similarity as a starting point. which conveys that despite the differences between races, gender, and age, we all still have similarities.

To create visual awareness around red box building through the convergence of serval points of the Somerset belt, showing interconnection by bringing youths together into a vibrant and lively communal space.
By creating versatile spaces and strategic zoning, the red box building would be a conducive workspace for volunteers of the youth corps, yet remain an everchanging eventful space; a symbolic landmark for youth to gather.
With the implementation of converging rigid and organic forms, using a distinctive ribbon structure will act as a spine to tie in the spatial zoning and circulation within the spaces of the red box building.

The concept started with a 5 box layout the first idea that came out to me was a Chinese museum. Hence the first thing that came out up to my mind was what theme I was going for maybe a museum to educate people from other races on things that represents Chinese culture. Hence I included several statuses that best represent the Chinese culture.
How did this name come about?
'学' which is known as learning, and I wish that the museum in level one could educate people of the public on Chinese culture. Where '悠' in English means leisure, hoping that the teahouse in level two can cater to people to relax in the space.

Along with warm spotlights that draw attention to the people and modern yet ancient environment to bring people closer yet not losing the essence of Chinese culture. So talking about Chinese culture, chayi has to be one of the well-known practices among the Chinese. They often use offers to the elderly by talking to business partners. Hence the second level is purely dedicated to tea houses.
