Havingjustcelebratedour25th Anniversaryit’sperhapsagood opportunitytolookbackandreflecton howthefestivalhasgrownovertheyears.
It’salsoagreattimetolooktothefuturewhatdowewantthefestivaltolooklikein yearstocome?
Inthebeginningthefestivalwas developedasaninitiativebytheTown Council.Itprovidedaplatformforlocal
musicianstoshowcasetheirtalentsand alwaystookplaceintheMemorialParkon thefirstSundayinJuly.
Thefestivalprovedtobeverypopularand grewyearonyear.
TheCouncildecidedthatithadgottoobig fortheirstafftomanageaswellastheir dayjobs,soalimitedcompanywas formedwithaBoardofDirectorsmadeup fromanumberoflocalvolunteers.

ThelimitedcompanyoperatesasaNot forProfitandhassubsequentlybeen successfulinobtainingcharitystatus.
Fromthehumblebeginningsofaoneday event,thefestivalisnowaweeklong eventutilisinganumberoflocalvenues beforemovingintotheparkforafew ticketedperformancesleadinguptothe bigweekend.
Thefestivalnotonlycelebratesallgenres ofmusicbutnowalsoincludesthe celebrationofmanyformsofart.Wetry toprovidesomethingforalltastesandall ages.
Wenowhavefourmusicstages,adance stage,awellbeingvillage,artzonesand
performanceartsaspartofaspecial familyday.
Therehavebeensomereallymemorable occasions:
Welcomingbackfestivalregularsincea youngage,LouisaBakerwithher internationalallgirlrockband.
StagingthefirstfullOperainKeynsham. SeeingEllisGrovercrossingtheparkona tighropeattheheightofthe1968floods.
Lookingforward,wewillcontinuetomake sureweareprovidingthemost professionalstageenvironmentpossible forourperformers.
Recognisingthechangingdemographicof thetownwewillbedevelopingmore familyorientedentertainmentand activities.
Wehavebeensopleasedwithour partnershipwithCircomediathatyouwill
beseeingmorecircusrelatedactivitiesfor thewholefamily.
Wearealsoworkingverycloselywith Keynsham’snewYouthDevelopment Officerandthisyearwewillseeawhole newareadedicatedtothe11to19age group.Weareveryexcitedtoseehowthis develops.

Duringthefestivalacoupleofyearsago,outofthe blue,TraciecameuptotheInformationPointand askedifshecouldhelpsellsomewristbands.
Ofcoursewastheimmediateanswer!
Halfanhourlatershereappearedandaskedformore wristbands.BytheendofthedayTraciehadsold morethan400!
Itmaynotbeimmediatelyobviousbutthese wristbandsareanimportantsourceofrevenuefor thefestival.
Tracieisdeterminedto breakherrecordthis year.Let’smakeit happen!
Lastyear,Traciespentthewholeofthefestivalweek sellingwristbandsateachoftheeventsandthen continuedthroughouttheweekend.Bytheendofthe weekshehadsoldnearly750!
Realisingthatthefestivalwasstrugglingtocoverthe costsattheendofthefestivalshedecidedthatshe wouldsellherhandmadejewellrywhichshecreates asahobbytoraisefurtherfundstohelpcoverour losses.
Traciehascontinuedtocraftmorejewellryandsell themwhenevershecan-mostnotablyattheWinter FestivalthankstothekindnessoftheGoldenOldies charityshop.
Singlehandedly,Traciehasraisedwellover£1,000 forfestivalfunds.
Shehasbeenaninspirationtousalland,wecannot thankherenough.

Eachyear,wechoosea charitytobenefitfrom ourComedyNight.We donatea%ageofall ticketssold.
Wehavespecialistsupport andrefugeaccommodation formen,women,and childrenescapingdomestic abuse
JulianHouseisacharity thatsupportsvulnerable andat-riskindividuals. Theseincludeadultsand youngpeople experiencing homelessness,escaping domesticabuse,adults withlearningdifficulties andpeoplewhoneed supportafterleaving prison.
Weoperatemorethan40 differentprojects, accommodationsitesand socialenterprisesacross SouthWestEngland.These includeourhomeless outreachservices,a20-bed emergencyaccesshostel, varioussupport.
Wealsorunmultiple trainingprogrammes (includingatourbike workshopsinBathand Trowbridge)tohelppeople regainconfidence,learn newtransferablework skills,getbackinto education,volunteering andemployment.
