A Halloween Cheap as Sh!t

Making DIY Halloween costumes from items you already have around the house is a festive, fun way to be creative and eco-friendly. It’s a great chance to stretch your imagination while learning the value of repurposing old items.
e rst step is to open your closet. ere’s a lot more in there to work with than you re alize. Look for simple pieces rst—jackets, dresses, skirts, and anything else you want to use. From personal experience, nothing works better for a costume than a simple white button-down shirt. en nd some statement pieces. ings that could really emphasize the out t and create a wow moment.
Now what? Head to Pinterest. Within this app, you can nd inspiration pictures and see how you can transform your clothes into a costume. Building a mood board of your ideas helps pull your creative image together. You can play around with the color and textures you hope to incorporate into your costume. Pinterest is a space that is great for helping spark new ideas or adding to existing ones.
Next up, o to the thri store. ri stores are the places where you can nd all the ac cessories you might need while still staying within budget. Here you can nd hats, purses, belts, shoes, and other clothing pieces to work with. When thri ing, the clothes aren’t going to jump right out at you, but that’s the fun of it! Grab your friends and look for the hidden treasures within the Goodwills in Columbia. Using the Pinterest mood boards you create is a great point of reference when looking through resale stores. ere’s no doubt you’ll nd unique pieces at resale stores, so get creative!
It might take some trial and error to gure out the perfect combination to complete your perfect costume. Blast some music and be the fashion designer you’ve always wanted to be! No designer has ever nailed it the rst time. On Halloween night, when the costume is complete, the makeup is done, and the accessories are on, you are going to have the best costume in Columbia.
