“Big Format. Painting & Abstraction “includes more than a dozen large-scale pictorial works, created by thirteen internationally renowned artists representing Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela, countries where the language of abstraction is already an artistic tradition and an essential part of its modern identity.

“Big Format. Painting & Abstraction” contempla más de una decena de obras pictóricas en gran formato, creadas por trece artistas de reconocida trayectoria internacional, en representación de Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, México, Perú y Venezuela. Todos ellos países donde el lenguaje de la abstracción es ya una tradición artística y forma parte esencial de su identidad moderna.

En “Big Format. Painting & Abstraction”, la pintura abstracta en su dimensionalidad se muestra al espectador con voluntad amplia en el dominio de los materiales. Las técnicas empleadas, su especificidad, evidencian una diversidad en el empleo simbólicos de estos materiales. Una diversidad que incluye, de un lado, la técnica y materiales más recurridos en la etapa moderna: pintura al óleo sobre lienzo. Aquí destacan, por ejemplo, las obras de Manaure, Garciandía, Felguérez o Galarraga. Del otro, técnicas más contemporáneas incorporadas a las practicas pictóricas de la abstracción como, por ejemplo, acrílico sobre lienzo que, respecto al óleo, aceleraba el secado de las superficies pictóricas. Su efecto es notable en los gestos expresivos de Richter, Szyszlo y Seguí, con la única obra de la muestra escorada a la figuración. Mientras que la combinación del collage, óleo y otras mixturas están presentes en los trabajos de Chab y Paternosto. “Big Format. Painting & Abstraction” además contempla obras, cuyas mixturas combinan estas técnicas con materiales sacados de la actualidad productiva, como por ejemplo, el mdf (tablero industrial con densidad media), o elementos reflectantes y metales, entre otros. Las sofisticadas laminaciones que cubren las obras de Ravelo, o las zigzagueantes imágenes de De Volder, enseñan un gran ingenio en el empleo de estos materiales.

In “Big Format. Painting & Abstraction”, the abstract painting in its dimensionality is shown to the spectator with a broad will in the domain of materials; the techniques employed and their specificity show a diversity in the symbolic use of these. A diversity that includes on one hand, the technique and materials most used in the modern stage: oil painting on canvas. Here highlights, for example, the works of Manaure, Garciandía, Felguérez or Galarraga. On the other, more contemporary techniques incorporated into the pictorial practices of abstraction, such as for example acrylic on canvas, that compared to oil, accelerated the drying of pictorial surfaces.

Its effect is remarkable in the expressive gestures of Richter, Szyszlo or Seguí with a unique piece that remains some figuration. A combination of collage, oil and other mixtures are otherwise present in the works of Chab and Paternosto.

“Big Format. Painting & Abstraction “also contemplates works, whose mixtures combine these techniques with materials taken from current production, such as mdf (industrial board with medium density) or reflective elements and metals, among others. The sophisticated laminations that cover the works of Ravelo, or the zigzagging images of De Volder, teach great ingenuity in the use of these materials.

Víctor Chab, (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1930) He started as a self-taught artist endowed with great expressiveness, obtaining already in 1947 the Second Prize of the XXVI Annual MEEBA Salon (Mutual of Students and Fine Arts Graduates). The art critic already echoed his particular sensitivity. He contacts at the beginning of the 1950s the surrealist environment that marks the beginning of Chab’s career. Influences manifest in his first solo exhibition in 1952 in Buenos Aires and whose works of a late surrealism combines collage and poetic text. He represents Argentina in the XXVIII International Venice Biennial of 1956. Chab is a year later, the great inspirer (together with the poet Aldo Pellegrini) of the group known as “Seven Abstract Painters”, a group that strengthed the use of free abstraction in Argentina as a language of infinite expressive combinations. Between the years 1970 and 1980, Chab developed kind of landscapes, where an architecture of fragmented human bodies unfolds inside a world of psychedelic tinge, anchored as much in the fictitious as in the “real marvelous”. In the nineties the artist recovered the symbolic interest for the animals present in his work of the 1960s. He delved into his filigreed style where elements of figuration, abstraction and expressionism coexisted in a suggestive balance, turning the artist into one of the most important of his generation within the language of Latin American lyrical abstraction. Se inicia como artista autodidacta dotado de gran expresividad, cuando en 1947 obtiene el Segundo Premio del XXVI Salón Anual de MEEBA (Mutual de Estudiantes y Egresados de Bellas Artes); la crítica se hacía ya eco de su particular sensibilidad. A principios de la década de 1950, contacta con el entorno surrealista que marca el inicio de la carrera de Chab. Influencias manifiestas en su primera exposición individual en 1952 en Buenos Aires y cuyas obras, de un surrealismo tardío, emplean collage combinados con texto poéticos. Representa a Argentina en la XXVIII Bienal Internacional de Venecia de 1956. Chab es un año más tarde, el gran inspirador, (junto con el poeta Aldo Pellegrini), del grupo conocido como “Siete pintores Abstractos”, grupo que afianza el empleo de la abstracción libre en Argentina, como lenguaje de infinitas combinaciones expresivas. Entre los años 1970 y 1980, Chab desarrolla especie de paisajes, donde se despliega una arquitectura de cuerpos humanos fragmentados dentro de un mundo de tinte psicodélico, anclado tanto en lo ficticio como en lo “real maravilloso”. En los años noventa, el artista recupera el interés simbólico por los animales presente en su obra de los años 1960. Ahonda en su estilo afiligranado, donde conviven en sugestivo equilibrio elementos tanto de la figuración, como de la abstracción y el expresionismo, convirtiendo al artista en uno de los más importantes de su generación dentro del lenguaje de la abstracción lírica latinoamericana. Entre sus premios más importantes están: “Salón MEEBA”, Segundo Premio, Buenos Aires, Argentina (1947);“Medalla de Plata”, Exposición Universal de Bruselas, Bélgica (1959) y el Premio Internacional Rubén Darío”, Primer Premio. Manuel Felguérez (Zacatecas, Mexico, 1928) Painter and sculptor. In the late forties, he studied at the San Pintor y escultor. JASON GALARRAGA

Jason Galarraga (Caracas, Venezuela, 1950) Painter and graphic designer. He studied at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Caracas (1968-1970) and at the Cristóbal Rojas School (1976-1979). He complements these artistic studies with those of graphic design at the Neumann Institute (1973-1977), where he will also teach in 1985. In 1980 he obtained an OAS scholarship to produce graphic arts projects in CEAGRAF, Costa Rica University. Between 1982 and 1984, he was hired by the prestigious advertising agency Arts. In 1988 he moved to Paris with an employment exchange program in Conac, where he lived for several years until he settled in Caracas in 1996. His most important grants include, among others, First Prize at the I Salón Tito Salas (Cámara de Commerce and Industry of the State Aragua, Maracay, 1980) and the “Palette de Or” Prize of the XXIIII International Painting Festival, in Cagnes Sur Mer (France, 1992). The work of Galarraga is inspired by everyday life, objects and merchandise, whose consumption conditions society and culture in times of globalization. It is a Neo Figurative painting of flat colors and aesthetic breath of a pop of urban vocation.

In his pictorial work Galarraga uses iconographies made with templates and its combination with collage. A pictorial job that include winks to the world of advertising and play with the semantic values of written and visual language. It is a painting that investigates the mechanisms of communication through the multiple relationships of meaning that are established between objects and things and their representation through the images.

Among his most important exhibitions are: “Mirar et revoir”, Espacio Niepce, (Paris, 1993); “Paintings”, Gallery Mailletz, (Paris, 1994), “Dames et damiers”, Art Present Gallery, (Paris, 1994); “Illo Tempore”, Durban- Segnini Gallery (Miami, 2004); “My favorite things”. 39 Gallery, (Caracas, 2009); “Twenty love drawings and a desperate painting”, French Alliance, (Caracas, 2013). His work is represented in important collections of public and private institutions such as: National Art Gallery (Caracas), Banco Mercantil de Venezuela, and the Polar Foundation, (Caracas).

Pintor y diseñador grafico. Estudia en la Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Caracas (1968-1970) y en la Escuela Cristóbal Rojas (1976-1979). Complementa estos estudios artísticos con los de diseño gráfico en el Instituto Neumann (1973-1977), del que será docente en 1985. En 1980 obtiene una beca de la OEA para realizar proyectos de artes gráficas aplicadas en CEAGRAF, universidad de Costa Rica. Entre 1982 y 1984, ficha con la prestigiosa agencia de publicidad Arts. En 1988 se traslada a París con una bolsa de trabajo de Conac, ciudad donde vivirá por varios años hasta que fija residencia en Caracas en 1996. De sus premios más importantes destacan, entre otros, Primer premio en el I Salón Tito Salas (Cámara de Comercio e Industria del Estado Aragua, Maracay, 1980) y el Premio “Palette de Or” del XXIIII Festival Internacional de la Pintura, en Cagnes Sur Mer (Francia, 1992). La obra de Galarraga está inspirada en la cotidianeidad, en los objetos y mercancía, cuyo consumo condicionan la sociedad y la cultura en tiempos de la globalización. Es una pintura neo figurativa, de colores planos y aliento estético de un pop de vocación urbana. En su oficio pictórico Galarraga emplea iconografías realizadas con plantillas y su combinación con el collage. Un oficio pictórico que incluyen guiños al mundo de la publicidad y el juego con los valores semánticos del leguaje escrito y visual. Es una pintura, que investiga los mecanismos de comunicación a través de las múltiples relaciones de significación que se establecen entre los objetos y las cosas y su representación a través de las imágenes. FLAVIO GARCIANDÍA

Flavio Garciandía (Villa Clara, Cuba, 1954) Painter. Lives and works in Mexico. In 1967 he joined the Provincial School of Art Rolando Escardo, in 1973 at the National Art School (Cubanacan) and in 1980 graduated from the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) in Havana. Among the seventies and eighties he developed an intense teaching activity, first as a teacher of Drawing and Painting at the School of Plastic Arts of Santa Clara Leopoldo Romañach and then as a Painting professor at the ISA (1981-1990). In those years he worked as a specialist in the Department of Fine Arts. In 1978 he was awarded by the Slovak Arts Economic Forum (Czechoslovakia) and in 1982 represented Cuba in the XII Biennial de Paris (France). In 1986 he received the Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship (New York, USA), in 1988 the Distinction for National Culture and the Alejo Carpentier Medal in 1995, both awarded by the State Council of the Republic of Cuba. In the mid-seventies he made himself known in the art scene as a hyperrealist painter of neo-romantic spirituality, although later his work begun to cite expressive resources of both Abstraction and Figurative art, Conceptual and Expressionist art, to derive what the artist has ironically called “new tropical Abstraction”.

Pintor. Reside y trabaja en México. En 1967 ingresa en la Escuela Provincial de Arte Rolando Escardo, en 1973 en la Escuela Nacional de Arte (Cubanacan) y en 1980 se gradúa del Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) de La Habana. Entre los años setenta y ochenta desarrolla una intensa actividad docente, primero como profesor de Dibujo y Pintura en la Escuela de Artes Plásticas Leopoldo Romañach de Santa Clara y luego como profesor de Pintura en el ISA (1981-1990). Por esos años, trabaja como especialista de la Dirección de Artes Plásticas. En 1978 es premiado por el Fondo Económico de las Artes Plásticas Eslovacas (Checoslovaquia) y en 1982 representa a Cuba en la XII Bienal de París (Francia). En 1986 recibe el Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship (Nueva York, USA), en 1988 la Distinción por la Cultura Nacional y en 1995 la Medalla Alejo Carpentier, otorgada por el Consejo de Estado de la República de Cuba. A mediados de los años setenta, se da a conocer en el panorama artístico como pintor hiperrealista de espiritualidad neorromántica, si bien más adelante su obra comienza a citar recursos expresivos tanto de la abstracción como del arte figurativo, el arte conceptual y expresionista, para derivar en lo que el artista ha llamado irónicamente «nueva abstracción tropical». MATEO MANAURE

Mateo Manaure (Uracoa, Venezuela, 1926 - 2018) Painter, muralist, sculptor, printmaker, graphic designer and illustrator. He studied between 1941 and 1946 at the Cristóbal Rojas School of Fine and Applied Arts of Caracas. He traveled to Paris in 1947 when he won the first National Arts Award for young artists. A year later he participated in Caracas in the founding of the Taller Libre de Arte. He returned to Paris in 1950 taking part in the group Los Disidentes. Back in Caracas in 1952, he founded, together with sculptor Carlos González Bogen, the Cuatro Muros Gallery, organizing the ”Primera exposición Internacional de Arte Abstracto” in the country. Among other awards, he received prestigious ones like the John Boulton Award in 1950 and the Federico Brandt Award in 1953, both granted by the Salón Oficial. He also was awarded in 1994 the Armando Reverón Grant by the Venezuelan Association of Fine Artists. The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Mateo Manaure in Maturín, Monagas state, was inaugurated in 2008. In Paris, his work evolved towards geometric abstraction and then to lyrical abstraction. He made murals, geometric abstract type stained glass and polychromes, to collaborate with the Artistic Integration Project at Ciudad Universitaria. Early in the 60s he returned to the figurative art with several colleges, but went back again to geometric abstraction in the early 70s. Pintor, muralista, escultor, grabador, diseñador gráfico e ilustrador. Entre 1941 y 1946 estudia en la Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Aplicadas Cristóbal Rojas de Caracas. En 1947 viaja a París, cuando gana el primer Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas para Artistas Jóvenes. Un año después participa en Caracas en la fundación del Taller Libre de Arte. En 1950 regresa a París, donde forma parte del grupo Los Disidentes.

Vuelve a Caracas en 1952 y funda junto con el escultor Carlos González Bogen la Galería Cuatro Muros, que organiza la Primera Exposición Internacional de Arte Abstracto en el país.

Destacan, entre otros galardones, el Premio John Boulton en 1950 y el Premio Federico Brandt en 1953, otorgados ambos por el Salón Oficial. En 1994 recibe además el Premio Armando Reverón de la Asociación Venezolana de Artistas Plásticos.

En 2008 se inaugura el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Mateo Manaure en Maturín, estado de Monagas. En París su obra evoluciona hacia la abstracción geométrica y luego hacia la abstracción lírica. Como colaboración al Proyecto de Integración de las Artes en la Ciudad Universitaria realiza murales, vitrales de tipo abstracto geométrico y policromías. A principios de la década del 60 retoma el arte figurativo con una serie de collages, pero vuelve a la abstracción geométrica a principios de años 70. César Paternosto, (La Plata, Argentina 1931).

Painter, sculptor, and writer. He studied law at the National University of La Plata between 1951 and 1958. In this same institution, he studied at the School of Fine Arts and Aesthetics and at the Philosophy Institute from 1957 to 1961. In 1965 he was awarded First Prize at the Salón de la Joven Pintura.

He moved to New York in 1967, where he lived until 2004.

In 1977 he immerses himself in pre-Columbian sculpture, making several trips to Argentina, Bolivia, and Perú. Two years later, Paternosto worked at the archaeological sites of Cuzco and Nazca, and in 1986 in similar projects in Mexico. He presented his research at conferences and in the exhibition “Abstraction. The Amerindian Paradigm”, held between 2001 and 2002 in Valencia and Brussels. In 1972 the John...

Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation awarded him a painting grant. It was followed by another in 1980 from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and finally, in 1991 the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation grant. Inspired by Joaquín Torres García and art Madí, he abandons the abstract expressionist poetics to enter the geometric field, approaching the coordinates of concreteness. Paternosto explored the expressive possibilities of the edge of the canvas in the late sixties, achieving the painting’s transformation into an object, attracting the viewer’s interest in the front perspective. En esta misma institución estudia en la Escuela de Bellas Artes y Estética, así como en el Instituto de Filosofía de 1957 a 1961. Le es otorgado el Primer Premio del Salón de la Joven Pintura de 1965. En 1967 se traslada a Nueva York, donde reside hasta 2004. En 1977 realiza una inmersión en la escultura precolombina a través de viajes que le llevan por Argentina, Bolivia y Perú. Dos años más tarde trabaja en el registro de sitios arqueológicos de Cuzco y Nazca, y en 1986 en proyectos similares desarrollados en México, investigaciones que expone en forma de conferencias y como muestra a través de la colectiva Abstracción. El paradigma amerindio, presentada entre 2001 y 2002 en Valencia y Bruselas. En 1972 la John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation le concede una beca de pintura. Le seguirían otra en 1980 de la Pollock-Krasner Foundation y por último la beca de Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation otorgada en 1991.

Eduardo Ramírez-Villamizar, Pamplona, (Colombia), 1923 – Bogotá, 2004.

Painter and sculptor. He studied architecture for four years, a career he gave up for painting. He started as an expressionist painter, a tendency that he left behind in 1950 in Paris, when he discovered geometric abstraction. In 1955 he made the first non-objective mural in Colombia. In 1959 he won first prize in painting at the XII Salón Nacional de Artistas with his artwork Horizontal en blanco y negro, and that same year he carries out in Bogotá the mural Relieve dorado, a large format and clear allusions to the pre-Columbian design. A creative combination of flat shapes related through straight lines or curves and organically articulated, characterized the visualization of his geometric abstract poetic. Ramírez Villamiz... ar lived and worked in New York from 1967 to 1974. In 1973 he performed other public sculptures in the United States: Hexagon in New York and De Colombia to John Kennedy in Washington. In 1976 Ramírez Villamizar is invited to the XXXVI Venice Biennale. Pintor y escultor. Estudia Arquitectura durante cuatro años, carrera que abandona por la pintura. Juvenal Ravelo (Caripito, Venezuela, 1932) Painter. Lives and works in Venezuela. Between 1952 and 1958 he studied at the School of Fine and Applied Arts of Caracas and at the School of Visual Arts Martin Tovar y Tovar of Barquisimeto, Lara (Venezuela). He teached the chairs of History of Art, Drawing and Printmaking at the School of Fine Arts Cristobal Rojas in Caracas. In 1964, he traveled to Paris and attended the University of the Sorbonne, where he studied Sociology of Art with Pierre Francastel and Jean Cassou. In 1971 he obtained the National Prize at the III Cagnes-sur-Mer International Art Festival, France; in 2006 the National Prize of Fine Arts and two years later the National Culture Award. Inspired by the work of Mateo Manaure, the production of Juvenal Ravelo develops a formal disqu... isition on the pictorial Kinetic within the abstract-geometric language through what he calls “fragmentation of light” from monochrome structures. Juvenal’s world of art works is the world of relativity. His pieces introduce the events of a reality that is reluctant to be apprehended by human perception. No categorical system can reveal the complexity and totality of reality, hence all knowledge must be said, not absolutely but in relative magnitudes. El mundo de las obras de Juvenal es el mundo de la relatividad; sus piezas introducen los acontecimientos de una realidad que se muestra reacia a ser aprehendida por la percepción humana. Ningún sistema categorial puede desvelar la complejidad y totalidad de la realidad, de ahí que todo conocimiento debe afirmarse, no en lo absoluto, sino en las magnitudes relativas. Luisa Richter (Besigheim, Germany, 1928 - Caracas, Venezuela, 2015) Painter. In 1946 until 1949 she joined the März Academy of Stuttgart and the Independent School of Art (Germany).

Between 1948 and 1955 she studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart with master Willi Baumeister, European Abstractionism key figure; in that mentioned city she also took Existential Philosophy courses with Max Bense at the Technical University. While publishing illustrations for the magazines Stuttgarter Leben or Die Welt der Frau and editorials such us Egon Schuler and Bechtle Verlag, she traveled to Paris and Rome. In 1955 she fixed residence in Caracas, where between 1969 and 1987 she worked as a teacher for Analytical Drawing and Composition at the Neumann Institute.

In 1967 she received the National Prize for Drawing and Printmaking and in 1978 represents Venezuela in the XXXVIII Venice Biennale. Four years later she was granted with the National Prize of Fine Arts. Her first pieces run through the figurative-expressionist poetic, though in the sixties her work heeled toward Abstraction with expressionist dyes that mark his later career. Luisa Richter’s work has its discursive sources in existential philosophy as well as in literature and mythology of German Romanticism, elements retaken afterwards by great figures of German art such as Anselm Kiefer. Carlos Rojas, (Facatativa, Colombia, 1933 – 1997) Painter and sculptor. Began studying architecture at the Javeriana University in Bogotá, though he interrupted in 1958 to travel to Italy on a scholarship. In Rome, he studied art at the School of Fine Arts and Design Institute of Applied Arts in Rome. In 1958 he was invited to the Venice Biennale and in 1975 to the XIII Biennale of São Paulo (Brazil). In 1961 he worked as a professor of design and drawing in the Department of Architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. In 1963 he went to the United States and Mexico to study. He received the first special award in painting at the XVII Salón de Artistas Nacionales of 1965 and the same distinction, four years later, at the XX Salón de Artistas Nacionales. He was the professor of architectural design at the Colegio Mayor de Cundinamarca, and for painting at the School of Fine Arts at the Universidad de Los Andes and the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano of Bogotá. His early works are compositions in which emerge Cubist and pop art influences with motifs of traditional painting, tendencies he left behind to plunge into the waters of geometric abstract poetics. Characteristic of his work is a rationalization of lines and planes, whose trajectories create right angles on the canvas or its space, fueled by colored bands and horizontal planes inspired by nature, the popular culture and the Colombian rural landscape. Pintor y escultor. Inicia estudios de arquitectura en la Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá, que abandona en 1958 para viajar a Italia con una beca. En Roma estudia arte en la Escuela de Bellas Artes y Diseño Aplicado del Instituto de Artes de Roma.

En 1958 es invitado a la Bienal de Venecia y en 1975 a la XIII Bienal de São Paulo. En 1961 colabora como profesor de diseño y dibujo en el Departamento de Arquitectura de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. En 1963 realiza un viaje de estudios por Estados Unidos y México. En 1965 recibe el Primer Premio Especial en Pintura del XVII Salón de Artistas Nacionales, que cuatro años después le otorga la misma distinción. Fue profesor de dibujo arquitectónico en el Colegio Mayor de Cundinamarca y de pintura en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de los Andes, así como en la Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano de Bogotá. Sus primeras obras son composiciones en las que afloran influencias cubistas y del pop art, con motivos de la pintura tradicional, tendencias que deja atrás para sumergirse en las aguas de la poética abstracto geométrica. Es característica de su obra la racionalización de las líneas y planos, cuyas trayectorias forman ángulos rectos sobre el lienzo o el espacio, avivados por bandas de colores planos y horizontales inspirados en la naturaleza, la cultura popular y el paisaje rural colombiano.

Antonio Seguí (Córdoba, Argentina, 1934) Painter, sculptor and illustrator. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid and at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He returned to Córdoba in 1954 and worked as an editor in the local newspaper Orientación covering the police and judicial sections. That same year he began studies of advocacy that he would quit later to dedicate himself entirely to the art world. In the late fifties and early sixties, he traveled to Latin America with a particular stop in Mexico, where he became friends with the great Mexican muralist Siqueiros. For those years he works intensely as an illustrator for magazines and other publications. In 1963 he was invited to the Biennial of Young Painting organized by the... Museum of Modern Art of Paris and he established his study in the city. Among his awards and recognitions are: Prize of the Museum of Lodz, Poland, (1967); Bibliophilia Prize, Office de Promotion de I’Edition Francaise Paris, France (1978); Chevalier de L’Oré des Arts et des Lettres France (1983), the Grand Prize of Plastic Arts of the Di Tella Institute of Buenos Aires, Argentina (1989); Corresponding Member of the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, France (1993). The work of Seguí has a marked figurative character, with Expressionist inspiration but with cynicism, humor and parody staining the spirit of his characters. Spreading out narratives like great frescoes, about the contradictory relationship between city and man, between his private existence and public life in modern society. Pintor, escultor e ilustrador. Estudia en Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando de Madrid y en la École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de París. Regresa a Córdoba en 1954 y trabaja como redactor en el diario local Orientación, cubriendo las secciones policiales y judiciales. Ese mismo año comienza estudios de abogacía que abandona para dedicarse al mundo del arte. A finales de los años cincuenta y principio de los sesenta, viaja por Latinoamérica con una parada particular en México, donde traba amistad con el gran muralista mexicano Siqueiros. Por esos años trabaja intensamente como ilustrador de revistas y otras publicaciones.

En 1963 es invitado a la Bienal de Pintura Joven organizada por el Museo de Arte Moderno de París y establece su estudio en la ciudad. Entre sus premios y reconocimientos destac... an el Premio del Museo de Lodz, Polonia, (1967); Premio Bibliofilia, Office de Promotion de I’Edition Francaise París, Francia (1978); Chevalier de L´Odre des Arts et des Lettres Francia (1983);el Gran Premio de Artes Plásticas del Instituto Di Tella de Buenos Aires , Argentina (1989); Miembro correspondiente de la Academia Europea de las Ciencias, las Artes y las Letras, Francia (1993). La obra de Seguí tiene un marcado carácter figurativo, de inspiración expresionista, pero con el cinismo, lo humorístico y la parodia tiñendo el espíritu de sus personajes. Desplegando narraciones como grandes frescos, sobre la relación contradictoria entre la ciudad y el hombre, entre su existencia privada y la vida pública en la sociedad moderna. Fernando De Szyszlo (Lima, Perú 1925 - 2017) Painter, sculptor, teacher and writer. He started studying architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, although he never finished it, entering in 1944 in the Escuela de Artes de la Pontificia Universidad Católica. In 1947 he founded, together with the poet Emilio Adolfo Westphalen, the cultural magazine Las Moradas. Between 1949 and 1953 he traveled and lived in Europe; during his stay in Paris, Szyszlo got to know Octavio Paz and André Breton. He becomes acquainted with informalist trends, particularly with the abstraction and neoplasticism. The paintings of those years show a tendency towards an abstract poetics with surreal appearance, achieved by the lyricism of color, the use of textures and control of a unique light that characterizes his later wor... k. In 1956 he worked as a professor of painting at the Facultad de Arte de la Pontificia Universidad Católica. He was invited in 1957 to the Bienal de São Paulo (Brasil). In 1963 he taught at the Department of Painting at the Cornell University (New York) and in 1973 at the Department of Art at the University of Texas (Austin). Beto De Volder, Buenos Aires, (Argentina), 1962.

Painter and sculptor. Lives and works in Argentina, where he studied at the National School of Arts Manuel Belgrano (19861989). In 1993 he received the first Prize at the III Biennial of Young Artists, Feria de Palermo (Buenos Aires) and a year later he was worthy of a grant from the Antorchas Foundation to work in the Barracas workshop conducted by Luis Fernando Benedit and Pablo Suárez . De Volder takes up the linear concept used by Carmelo Arden Quin as an entity that outlines forms and delimits spaces, employed in the constructivist version during its beginnings with the MADI group. Though De Volder also connects to a more ethereal and less tangible vision that connects with the theory of Kandinsky, where the geometric line runs as an invisible entity, as a kind ... of point moving on the plane; in the fusion of both visions he develops a very personal work that takes us into a world whose dynamic articulates on antithetical values: the implosive against the expanded, the linear transformed into curvature, the chaotic against the organized. It is a work whose poetic navigates at a permanent uncertainty where reflection and expression overlap curled in a dizzying kinetic art that does not let up, opening our sensitivity to understand and accept reality like a cluster of appearances. Pintor y escultor. Reside y trabaja en Argentina, donde estudia en la Escuela Nacional de Arte Manuel Belgrano (1986-1989).

En 1993 recibe el Primer Premio de la III Bienal de Jóvenes Artistas, Feria de Palermo (Buenos Aires) y un año después es merecedor de una beca otorgada por la Fundación Antorchas para trabajar en el taller Barracas a cargo de Luis Fernando Benedit y Pablo Suárez. De Volder retoma el concepto lineal empleado por Carmelo Arden Quin como entidad que esboza formas y delimita espacios, interpretado en la versión más constructivista durante sus inicios con el grupo MADI. Pero De Volder conecta también con una visión más etérea y menos tangible que entronca con la teoría de Kandinsky, donde la línea geométrica discurre como un ente invisible, como una especie de punto en movimiento sobre el plano; es en la fusión de amb... as visiones donde desarrolla un personalísimo trabajo que nos introduce en un mundo, cuya dinámica se articula sobre valores antitéticos: lo implosivo frente a lo expandido, lo lineal que se trastoca en curvatura, lo caótico frente a lo organizado. Es una obra cuya poética navega en una incertidumbre permanente, donde reflexión y expresión se superponen enroscadas en un cinetismo vertiginoso que no da tregua, abriendo nuestra sensibilidad a comprender ?y aceptar? que la realidad es como un cúmulo de apariencias.
