he medical field has been practicing defensively since it was discovered. The main focus for almost a full year, was limiting the number of deaths. What health care professionals were witnessing was like nothing they had ever seen, and there seemed to be no end in sight. Thousands fighting for their lives, and many medical treatments and interventions were not working. Nothing was working to save them. The health care providers around the world were burning out and losing hope, after their endless efforts which went on for weeks and sometimes months in order to save individuals were not working. Death was almost imminent on every COVID patient being admitted. However, then slowly, science came to the rescue as we began to see some light at the end of tunnel. In the past 10 months we have seen an abundance of studies being conducted and a plethora of different medications, each aimed to bring relief and improved outcomes for so many suffering from this horrific virus. Now the focus has shifted towards a proactive approach rather than a reactive chaos. We are now starting to focus on prevention of hospitalization and decreasing the amount of people that need to be kept in the hospital because of COVID-19 symptoms. Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus, has been at the forefront in combatting the virus for our community. With a team of Physicians, Fellows and residents, patients were a part of studies that helped break ground for new medications being used for the fight against COVID-19. Bamlanivimab, is an investigational FDA emergency approved authorized medication that is being used for the treatment of COVID-19 in patients that are NOT hospitalized. Focused on adults over the age of 12 who have mild to moderate symptoms and weigh more than 88 pounds or 40 kilograms, and are also at high risk for developing severe COVID-19 symptoms that will require hospitalization. Some of these high risk patients are defined by meeting at least one of the following criteria: • Body mass index over 35 • Have chronic kidney disease • Have diabetes • Have Immunosuppressive disease • Are currently receiving immunosuppressive treatment • Are 65 or older
• Are 55 or older AND have Cardiovascular disease OR Hypertension OR COPD or other respiratory disease • Are 12-17 years old AND have BMI equal or over • the 85th percentile for their age and gender based on CDC charts https://www.cdc.gov/ growthcharts/clinical_charts.htm , OR Sickle Cell disease OR Congenital or acquired heart disease OR Neurodevelopmental disorders like cerebral palsy OR Medical related technological dependence like, tracheostomy, gastrostomy, OR Asthma, or any other respiratory disease that requires daily medication. Bamlanivimab must be administered by intravenous (IV) infusion. Bamlanivimab may only be administered in settings in which health care providers have immediate access to medications to treat a severe infusion reaction, such as anaphylaxis, and the ability to activate the emergency medical system (EMS), as necessary.

ommissioners Jose “Pepe” Diaz and Oliver G. Gilbert III were sworn in as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 6 in an outdoor ceremony at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens in front of supporters, friends, family and local officials. Chairman Diaz, a U.S. Marine veteran, pledged to bring the values of honor, courage, dignity and respect to the task of leading his colleagues on the County Commission over the next two years, drawing on his decades of experience in public office to confront a range of challenges including COVID-19 and economic recovery. He reiterated his
strong support for law enforcement and promised progress on the fronts of public transportation, environmental protection, and permitting reform. “We will honor and make proud the voters of Miami-Dade County by doing the work they trusted us to do. We will tackle this work with courage to do what is hard while never forgetting what is right. And we will remain committed to every single one of the 2.8 million residents of this County,” Chairman Diaz said. Vice Chairman Gilbert shared his personal rise from humble origins as an inspiring example of the kind of opportunities inherent in the American

roperty Appraiser Pedro J. Garcia mailed out important tax saving exemption benefit information to residential property owners in Miami-Dade County. This includes courtesy homestead applications for new homeowners, encouraging them to apply for their Homestead Exemption, as well as automatic renewal receipts. With the COVID-19 pandemic financially affecting many property owners, homeowners are strongly encouraged to review their property tax exemption benefits to ensure they are receiving all the benefits they deserve. Additionally, homeowners should carefully review their renewal receipts to ensure they still qualify for their exemption(s). If the property owners remain eligible in 2021, no further action is needed, but they are encouraged to keep the document for their records. However,
if they no longer qualify for their exemption(s), Florida law requires property owners to notify the Property Appraiser. To cancel exemptions they no longer qualify for, property owners should sign the cancellation portion of the receipt and return it to the Office of the Property Appraiser at 111 NW 1st

The last week of the year 2020 in the fight to the COVID 19 Pandemic, have seen renewed efforts to ameliorate the economic impact of COVID 19 in the City of Miami Districts following the best Holiday’s spirit of Christmas and New Year. In District 1, Commissioner Senator Alex Diaz de la Portilla, was conducting like in previous days a gift card and food distributions from his office in Allapattah, Curtis Park and the Antonio Maceo Park. Also at the Allapattah Community Action. Inc. with Mayor Francis Suarez. In District 3, Commissioner Joe Carollo as well was conducting gift cards and food distribution on several sites of his district and Little Havana, Domino Park the Calle Ocho heart of his District. The gift cards are valid to purchase merchandise
in pharmacies and food establishments throughout the city, helping in this way the local business affected by the COVID 19 Pandemic. This kind of service is not new to both Commissioners, Senator Alex Diaz de la Portilla from District 1 and Joe Carollo from District 3, City of Miami; both with vast experience at several levels of government bring an impressive service record to their constituents for many years. Present at this events were at Curtis Park, Florida Senator Ileana Garcia, District 37 and El Vocero News its Publisher and Staff as volunteers for a community service. En el Distrito 1, El Comisionado Ex-Senador Alex Díaz de la Portilla, condujo al igual que en días anteriores una repartición de alimentos y tarjetas de regalos desde su oficina en el parque Curtis, en el vecindario de Allapattah y en el parque Antonio Maceo. También en Allapattah fue acompañado por el Alcalde Francis Suarez en la distribución de alimentos en el Centro de Acción Comunitaria (ACAI) comedor y centro de actividades de personas mayores. perfecto, pues usualmente, 20-20 se refiere a cuando una persona tiene la vista ocular de manera excelente. Sin embargo, la economía en el 2020; nos ha demostrado que con una simple pandemia, mal administrada, mal controlada, como sucede en cualquier negocio o empresa, resulta en un caos tremendo; es justamente lo que ha acontecido prácticamente desde marzo de este año imperfecto ocular a toda persona o negocio, inclusive a nivel del mundo entero. De tal manera que el ser humano debe sobrevivir, la pregunta clave es ¿cómo?; pues me han “movido el piso”. Apenas tomó unos meses para que los empresarios, los individuos, e inclusive los gobernantes observaran la catástrofe en cuanto a pérdidas económicas y sobre todo, la gran pérdida de vidas humanas, para que les entrara en la médula ósea de algunos de ellos, pues otros, y la gran mayoría de ellos, más bien se tornaron a prácticamente a no escuchar y; como lo dijo el gran escritor, Edgar Allan Poe – volverse “ostras mentales” e ignorar la manera correcta de enfrentar tal caos en pleno desarrollo y exponencialmente destruyéndonos. Entonces, ¿qué hacer?, ¿cómo lo hago?, o mejor dicho, ¿cómo logro superar tal situación adversa?; que dicho sea de paso, esta pandemia fue creada, no por la sabia naturaleza, sino mas bien, por el mismo individuo de este planeta terráqueo, SI, así es; nosotros mismos estamos destruyéndonos. Pero, no todo está perdido, pues de todo factor negativo, se debe sacar algo positivo; tal como lo explicó Jairo Martins da Silva de T & S Academy en Sao Paulo, Brasil – “El virus nos ha brindado como despertar y tener una conciencia mas colectiva y solidaria”. Efectivamente, muy acertado ese comentario; pues la verdad es esa; tuvo que venir una pandemia de esta magnitud para que el ser humano se volviese más solidario para con su prójimo más cercano, tuvo que venir esta pandemia para que las naciones otorgaran ayudas financieras a los individuos y empresas; pero como bien dice el dicho “unos a la bulla y otros a la cabuya” siempre salen personajes, empresarios y gobernantes que no han pasado ni tres segundos de comunicar un alivio, ya sea de producto comestible, o bien financiero, o de manera habitacional, del cual o toman control para su beneficio propio, o actúan de una manera descomunal para dejar a los más necesitados en una peor situación de la que estaban. Por lo que, el primer consejo para salir adelante es tomar conciencia de que, hay que tener PACIENCIA; si parece mentira; pero si se escuchara bien a los científicos, a los expertos en economía y sobre todo si los mismos gobernantes escucharan; y tuvieran una buena comunicación con ellos y vice-versa, la situación sería más favorable de lo que tenemos en este momento,
sobre todo en esta gran nación llamada Estados Unidos de Norte América; al mismo tiempo, uno como empresario, directivo o individuo, debemos aprender a tener paciencia; pues en latín hay un dicho que dice; “piano, piano, vai lontano” – “despacio, despacio y llegarás lejos”. Entiendo que es más fácil escribirlo y leerlo, que de verdad practicarlo; pero traten de practicarlo, pues esto les dará una mente más clara y oportuna para que después de meditarlo tranquilamente; el panorama cerebral será un porcentaje más favorable. Entonces, con el hecho de tener paciencia y meditar sobre ella, pues lógico, todos deseamos salir adelante ante esta crisis; por lo que hay el segundo consejo es; volverse FLEXIBLE (RESILIENT); sí; afrontar la crisis que tenemos enfrente con mente abierta, flexible al cambio, pues nos ha ocasionado un cambio completamente brusco, nos ha ocasionado escases, nos encontramos con un panorama de incertidumbre; el volverse flexible, permite que transformemos de una manera estable nuestros sistemas, organizaciones y sobre todo, el factor humano. Ahora bien, hay que tener bien claro que de ahora en adelante, todos, absolutamente todos y todas las organizaciones e industrias viviremos un “nuevo” normal; ya que el COVID-19 nos ha hecho un llamado de alarma a todos los seres humanos, y lo cierto es que es hora de construir las infraestructuras que nos permitan vivir de una manera distinta; ahí es donde viene el tercer consejo; REORGANIZARSE, por medio de la reorganización los que están saliendo adelante han desaprendido para aprender nuevamente y tener bien claro que la sociedad se debe pegar por la base de participación de responsabilidad humana y no pensar en la responsabilidad de recursos monetarios. Es cierto que parece que el COVID-19 tiene a toda la población nacional y mundial “contra las cuerdas”, como un buen deportista practicante del boxeo; todas las industrias forzadas a representarse con números negativos, la desconfianza en los gobernantes por la falta de ponerse de acuerdo en una decisión de ayuda al contribuyente, y no una decisión de partido; pero practicar los consejos anteriormente descritos y sobre todo pensar y hacer una cohesión humana verdadera en equipo, hará que la pelea,
la ganemos nosotros, los humanos. Por ello, para cerrar este artículo, deseo dejar unas prácticas saludables a nivel personal: 1) Actuar con respeto, coherencia y disciplina enviando señales consistentes. 2) Acercar los líderes a los colaboradores, promoviendo la comunicación presencial y la manifestación de resistencias. 3) Potenciar la responsabilidad compartida y la participación a nivel organizacional, empresarial, gubernamental e individual. 4) Crear equipos para monitorear cuidadosamente las señales del entorno. 5) Mientras se pueda, y se tenga el recurso humano interno o externo, promover el trabajo en equipo. En cuanto a nivel financiero, algunas prácticas saludables son: 1) Aplicar una gestión estructurada para eliminar todos los gastos innecesarios. 2) Vigilar y estructurar mejor la generación de caja. 3) Eliminar o aplazar inversiones en proyectos con retorno no fiable o negativo. 4) Comprender y desarrollar estrategias, o simulaciones con el negocio en tiempos de fatalidad económica. 5) Renegociar las cuentas por pagar y por cobrar (por ejemplo: descuentos por pronto pago). En cuanto al ámbito de aliados o alianzas estratégicas: 1) validar la situación actual de cada proveedor a nivel de inventarios, pagos y compromisos. 2) Revisar y definir un plan de pagos cumplible. 3) Fortalecer las alianzas para superar la crisis. 4) Compartir fortalezas a nivelde gestiones y apoyo comercial. 5) Establecer planes de mejora integrando escenarios de crisis y post-crisis. Todo esto nos llevará a la construcción oportuna de habilidades para el aprendizaje y la transformación a todos los niveles, lo que nos dará una visión distinta del futuro, por lo que al final de todo, obtendremos una validación total de nuestro entorno y buscar nuevamente, continuar positivamente en un nuevo mundo normal.

- Supposedly would be the perfect year for
many, because usually 20-20 refers to when a person has excellent eye sight. However, the economy in 2020; has shown us that with a simple pandemic, poorly managed, poorly controlled, as it may happen to any business or company within its procedures, will result in accruing tremendous chaos; and this is precisely what has happened practically since March of last year in that imperfect ocular year, and that continues to haunt us in this 2021 that has just begun. It has struck almost every person or business nationwide and worldwide, in such a way that the human being must survive, but the key question is how? Well, this pandemic most certainly has “moved the floor” for all of us, and it barely took a few months for businessmen, individuals, and even rulers of the world to observe the catastrophe in terms of economic losses and above all, the great loss of human lives, for it [the pandemic] to enter the bone marrow [inner being] of some of them, as well as others, and the vast majority of them [the leaders], rather than listen to scientific knowledge and data, the turned to practically not listening at all, and; as the great writer, Edgar Allan Poe put it - they became “mental oysters” and ignore the right way to face such unfolding and exponentially destroying chaos. So, what to do? How do I do it? Or rather, how do I manage to overcome such an adverse situation? By the way, this pandemic was created, not by wise nature, but rather, by the same individual from this earthly planet, YES, that’s right; we are destroying ourselves. But, not all is lost, because from every negative factor, something positive must be taken; as explained by Jairo Martins da Silva from T & S Academy in Sao Paulo, Brazil - “The virus has given us how to wake up and have a more collective and supportive conscience”. Indeed, that comment is very accurate; Well the truth is that; A pandemic of this magnitude had to come for human beings to become more supportive of their closest neighbors, this pandemic had to come so that nations would grant financial aid to individuals and companies; But as the saying goes “some to the noise and others to the poise” as there are always sneaky characters that unfold in these scenarios, such as businessmen and rulers who have not spent three seconds to communicate a relief, be it of edible product, or financial, or in a residential way , of which either they take control for their own benefit, or they act in an enormous way to leave those most in need in a worse situation than they were. Therefore, the first advice to get ahead is to become aware that you have to have PATIENCE; if it seems a lie; but if scientists, economics experts and especially if the rulers themselves listened well; and they had good
communication with them and vice-versa, the situation would be more favorable than what we have at the moment, especially in this great nation called the United States of North America; at the same time, one as an entrepreneur, manager or individual, we must learn to be patient; Well, in Latin there is a saying that says; “Piano, piano, vai lontano” - “slowly, slowly and you will go far”. I understand that it is easier to write and read it than to actually practice it; but try to practice it, because this will give you a more clear and opportune mind so that after meditating it quietly; the cerebral panorama will be a more favorable percentage. So, with the fact of being patient and meditating on it, well, of course, we all want to get ahead in this crisis; so there is the second tip is; become FLEXIBLE (RESILIENT); yes; face the crisis in front of us with an open mind, flexible change, since it has caused us a completely abrupt change, it has caused us shortages, we find ourselves with a panorama of uncertainty; becoming flexible, allows us to transform in a stable way our systems, organizations and above all, the human factor. Now, it must be clear that from now on, everyone, absolutely everyone and all organizations and industries will experience a “new” normal; Since COVID-19 has called out to all human beings, and the truth is that it is time to build the infrastructures that allow us to live in a different way; That’s where the third tip comes in; REORGANIZE, through reorganization those who are getting ahead have unlearned to learn again and be clear that society must stick by the basis of participation of human responsibility and not think about the responsibility of monetary resources. It is true that it seems that COVID-19 has the entire national and world population “against the ropes”, like a good sportsman practicing boxing; all the industries forced to represent themselves with negative numbers, distrust in the rulers due to the failure to agree on a decision to help the taxpayer, and not a party decision; but by practicing the advice described above and especially thinking and making a true human cohesion as a team, will make the fight, overturn to our advantage and come out victorious. Therefore, to close this article, I want to leave some healthy practices on a personal level: 1) Act with respect,
consistency and discipline by sending consistent signals. 2) Bring the leaders closer to the collaborators, promoting face-to-face communication and the manifestation of resistance. 3) Promote shared responsibility and participation at the organizational, business, government and individual levels. 4) Create teams to carefully monitor signals from the environment. 5) As long as you can, and you have internal or external human resources, promote teamwork. Regarding financial level, some healthy practices are: 1) Apply a structured management to eliminate all unnecessary expenses. 2) Monitor and better structure cash generation. 3) Eliminate or postpone investments in projects with unreliable or negative returns. 4) Understand and develop strategies or simulations with the business in times of economic doom. 5) Renegotiate accounts payable and receivable (for example: discounts for prompt payment). Regarding the area of allies or strategic alliances: 1) Validate the current situation of each supplier at the level of inventories, payments and commitments. 2) Review and define a compliant payment plan. 3) Strengthen alliances to overcome the crisis. 4) Share strengths at the level of management and commercial support. 5) Establish improvement plans integrating crisis and post-crisis scenarios. All this will lead us to the timely construction of skills for learning and transformation at all levels, which will give us a different vision of the future, so at the end of it all, we will obtain a total validation of our environment and search again the new normal, while trying to live positively in this newly created world.

he Miami Beach holding on their first meeting of 2021, passed several pieces of legislation presented by MB Commissioner Michael Gongora to ensure the best quality of life and to make our city better and more prosperous. The Miami Beach Commission voted on a second reading of a Public Hearing item R5E, Ch. 46, Friendly Fertilizer presented by Commissioner Gongora and co-sponsored by MB Mayor Dan Gelber and MB Commissioners Mark Samuelian and Micki Steinberg. Also item R9K, Discuss Opportunity to Improve of Health at Biscayne Bay, by Commissioner Gongora and co-sponsored by Mayor Gelber and Commissioners Samuelian and Steinberg being supported by the Organization Miami Waterkeeper. Both ordinances to protect Biscayne Bay water quality. Commissioner Gongora since 2007 established the Sustainability Committee in Miami Beach, working on numerous sustainable and environmental initiatives,

I’m proud to be the original City of Miami Beach Commission sponsor, expressed Commissioner Michael Gongora. “Keep Biscayne Bay Clean, Not Green” MB Commissioner Gongora worked diligently on several other pieces of legislation to ensure the best quality of life for all his constituents. North Beach is another area of concern for his Real Estate development and economy. His two legislative items under item R7N passed. First, the establishment of the Ad Hoc North Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Advisory Committee passed and will be established. The purpose of the committee is to advise, review and provide input with the proposed North Beach CRA. This will provide for more resident input on the North Beach CRA. Also the designation of the “International Inn” 2301 Normandy Drive as a historic site ensuring its iconic architecture.
All this in conjunction with the resurgence of the Real Estate market in a 2020 Pandemic Year were North Beach has the highest numbers of sales in condominiums units under the $300,000. price in Miami Dade County. Over 320 townhouse and condo units priced at this range sold during the first three quarters of 2020, according to the Miami Association of Realtors sales data. Part of this resurgence in the area is due to policies implemented by our MB Commissioner Michael Gongora and his vision of future development and sustainability in Miami Beach. In the area of human services Commissioner Gongora is a champion with the Seniors and the most needed in our society during this Pandemic times, sponsoring and conducting various food and gift cards distributions and others events with the support of South Florida Seniors in Action, Nexus Medical Centers, Miami Dolphins Foundation, MB Police Dpt., and several others organizations local and nationals.

a Comisión de Miami Beach en su primera reunión del año 2021, aprobó varias leyes (ordenanzas municipales) presentadas por el Comisionado Michael Góngora que aseguran una mejor calidad de vida para los residentes al mismo tiempo que hacen esta ciudad mejor y más prospera. La Comisión de Miami Beach voto en segunda lectura y en audiencia pública el punto R5E de la agenda sobre restricción de fertilizantes que limita su uso durante cinco meses al año, la ordenanza coauspiciada por el Alcalde Dan Gelber y los Comisionados Mark Samuelian y Micki Steinberg, fue aprobada por unanimidad. El punto R9K de la agenda enfoco la oportunidad de mejorar la salud ambiental de la Bahía Biscayne creando un Fondo Fiduciario de Protección de la Bahía Biscayne de Miami Beach, siendo apoyada por la organización Miami Waterkeeper y pasando con votación unánime de la comisión. Ambas ordenanzas municipales protegen el medio ambiente, la calidad del agua y su fauna marina en la Bahía de Biscayne. Ingredientes:

• 4 porciones de salmón (8 oz. c/u) • 1 cucharada de jengibre natural rallado • 2 dientes de ajo machacados • 1/2 cucharada de mantequilla • 2 cucharadas de aceite de oliva (aguacate, coco, o aceite de semilla de uva) • 1 limón. • 1 lima • 1/2 cucharadita de pimienta • 3 cucharadas de paprika • 1 cucharada de chile y lima (como sazonador) • 1 cucharadita de limón rallado • Agregar sal marina al gusto

1. En un tazón o bowl mediano mezclar el jengibre, los ajos machacados, la mantequilla, el aceite, el limón rallado, la pimienta, la paprika, el chile y lima, agregando la sal al gusto. 2. Mescle los ingredientes revolviéndolos por 2 minutos, que queden bien mesclados. 3. Con una brocha de cocina untar la mezcla en las porciones de salmón. 4. Coloque el salmón en una bandeja previamente untada de grasa. 5. Corte la lima en rodajas cubriendo el salmón. 6. Caliente el horno a 350 grados introduciendo la bandeja cubierta por papel de aluminio. 7. Horneándolo por 20 minutos.

n March 2020, we temporarily closed all of our Social Security Hearing Offices due to the Coronavirus pandemic and are not offering inperson hearings. During the office closures, we are providing two flexible, safe, and secure hearing options: either a telephone hearing or our new option of an online video hearing. Additional information on both of these hearing options is available here: www.ssa.gov/appeals/ hearing_options.html What are “online video hearings”? Online video hearings are a secure way to conduct hearings over the internet, using a free platform called Microsoft Teams. You and your representative, if you have one, can attend the online video hearing safely and securely from any private place with a secure internet connection using a camera-enabled smartphone, tablet, or computer. Like our telephone hearings option, the online video hearings option is not mandatory. We will conduct online video hearings the same way we conduct telephone and in-person hearings.

During the hearing, the administrative law judge (ALJ) will swear in all hearing participants and listen to your testimony. You will see the ALJ and representative, if one has been appointed. Other participants, such as vocational/medical experts and interpreters, will join by phone. What are the technology requirements to participate in an online video hearing? You and an appointed representative, if applicable, must have access to email and a personal computer, laptop, or Android/Apple tablet or mobile device with a secure and private, highspeed Wi-Fi or cellular data connection. The device must have a camera, microphone, and speakers. If using a mobile device, you must download the free Microsoft Teams application.
We will send you a link to a user guide that explains how to access and use Microsoft Teams before the date of an online video hearing.
