Tormented, A Blurb As a collective, we all identified with an issue that’s been built into our society and community for generations. Toxic Masculinity. Specifically, the societal expectations of what a man should be. This being emotionless, unaffected by words and to never show any sign of weakness or pain. As young Polynesian artist we want to push the boundaries of expectations and prove we are more than that. This amazing opportunity to create our own Zine ‘TORMENTED’ with Jasmin Singh really allowed us to express ourselves and our views in an awesomely unique and artistic way. Being able to create such works that were not only fun and enjoyable to do, but work that was important to us and made ourselves proud was a true blessing and something that will forever stick with us. We are incredibly grateful for Hannah Davis-Gray, Jasmin Singh, Rosabel Tan, Jackson Tan and Salome Tanuvasa for this opportunity to exemplify a new form of art for us to express ourselves through! - By Noah Brown Y13 Students who participated in the McCahon House Programme: Alistair Afualo Y13 Cole Kuresa Ngan Woo Y13 Malachai Ifopo Y13 Noah Brown Y13 Alefosio Amituanai Feau Y13 Alan Leafa Y13 Angelo Toalepai Y13 Jacob Iakopo Y13 Devante Mika Y13 Logan Leilua Y13 Tutoatasi Evalu Y12 Isaac Luamanuvae Y13 Vaiomanuia Tala Y13 Created from zine workshop for “NZArt100” with McCahon House offering practical skill development for youth from De La Salle College, 2020.
