The edges we do not see in technology... When has OFS ever considered that students` increasing dependency on technology in every aspect of their academic lives is a double edged sword. OFS is under the belief that this change in the curriculum in the curriculum might just put the students at a learning advantage, but as a school community, it is important to ask this question: Has OFS really cared for the students learning environment or has OFS really just surrendered to the students dependency of technology? OFS has maintained a trustworthy image for over 20 years with its face to face curriculum, yet is this image might just change for the better or for the worse for OFS. “OFS`s trustworthy image might assure parents that the changes the OFS curriculum are for the benefit of the learning environment of students” says Henry Douglas a computer studies teacher. However, OFS has maintained their trustworthy image for 20 years through their face to face curriculum and a sudden move of changing OFS`s current curriculum to an online curriculum might not sound reassuring to parents in particular who have invested their money to OFS for their child`s education. “OFS`s online curriculum might just be able to allow students to have freedom in learning” says science teacher Tanya Johanna. OFS however should consider that there are certain subjects that require actual teacher supervision to ensure the safety of the students, and the online curriculum might not be able to guarantee the safety of students, but instead put students at risk especially if they don`t know the safety procedures of subjects. To add to the following statement, OFS`s mission is “To maintain a happy, safe effective school for Overseas families living in Singapore” and what they seem to be doing by planning to change their face to face curriculum contradicts the mission statement. One of the OFS directors Jeff Clarkson states the following: “With the development and technology and with students who enjoy technology, this change in the curriculum might just support OFS` mission”. However considering that OFS has had 20 years of maintaining a happy and safe curriculum through face to face curriculum, there is not really a point in the OFS changing to an online curriculum if their face to face curriculum is successful. A final question to ask to the students of OFS, Does OFS need to go to the ridiculous hassle to change your academic life or are you not happy with your academic life?
