01 Æ L T The client is a variety of people including families, seniors, and single individuals who wish to live together in a Cohousing Community. Inspired by the Cohousing model that originated in Denmark in the 1970s, the client wants to implement a similar concept. They want private spaces, but with big communal areas where they can cook, dine, and interact with each other. Cohousing is a socially sustainable concept in which social, economic, and environmental aspects are equally important elements.

The name of the community is named ælt which means “kneading”. Kneading is a process in the making of bread or pasta dough, used to mix different solid and liquid ingredients into a relatively uniform mass and add strength to the final product. The name felt fitting for the community as it celebrates diversity and the different demography.

Some concept keywords include color blocking, artistic, diversity, industrial, dreamy. This celebration of diversity is shown through a variety of colors, materials, and elements.

02 W I L D F L O W E R The client wants a unique store that has not yet been seen before. The client wishes to mix a florist and a shaman and create an experience for the end-user. A Shaman is a person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of good and evil spirits, they can usually produce herbal medicine which has a healing effect.

The name of the store is Wildflower as I wanted to design a sustainable florist. 9 out of 10 flowers sold in France are imported, and in my opinion, flowers should be locally sourced and wild. The concept is the four elements: earth, water, fire, and air. It is shown through different materials such as dried flowers, fluted glass, and kelim.

03 C O N F E T T I The 18th-centure Red Brick building is located on 10 Mill Street in Dublin 8. The brief was to design a Boutique Hotel for Iris Apfel in the heart of the colorful Liberties neighborhood, the area is known for art and locals with strong personalities.

My design is inspired by Iris Apfel’s personality and her quote “More is more and less is a bore.” I named the hotel Confetti, which for me, is a symbol for an explosion of happiness, diversity and celebration. That is exactly how I want the hotel to feel. The Liberties is described as Dublin’s most colorful area and I want the place to reflect the diversity and colors of the neighborhood. My concept “More is More” is shown through a variety of colors, materials and elements. It is an attitude as much as a place.

The brief asked to redesign the Chocolate Factory into an office building for a community of designers, artists and small enterprises. The Chocolate Factory is known as Dublin’s first concrete building with industrial aesthetics. The concept is inspired by theatre and set design. Since the tenants are creative souls and “performing” is such a big part of their job, I want to create a place where they feel like they are in the act of a performance.

I created offices where tenants can go in and be alone and be “off stage.”

And open break-out spaces where tenants can be “on stage” and chat with their colleagues.

05 M O N T R E U I L In collaboration with Quatorze and Paris College of Art, master students developed an interior design proposal for temporary living units intended to house young refugees on a vacant lot in the city of Montreuil, just outside Paris.

Remotely and from afar, we tried to successfully draw from the strengths of each of our schemes, defining a detailed group proposal ready for fabrication. Looking forward to the next steps once the current global situation evolves so we hopefully gain access to the collective’s fab lab and project building site for assembly!

HOME

BOX”

The idea is to provide a homely feeling to the inhabitant. This sense of belonging to a place contrasts to that of a simple room to stay. For that purpose, A box is placed inside the inner volume, qualifying the space and defining a place. Everything that the user needs is in that box: it is an all-in-one box that works as a sort of welcome gift, to be unwrapped as the person takes possession of his/her new home. All the elements needed to use the space of the room are nested inside it – two mattresses, the shelves, the table, the chairs, etc.- and you take them out and arrange them according to your needs and own will. That allows the user to arrange and rearrange things to create the home he/she aspires to. The packaging of all the elements inside the box has as a goal maximizing the use of the reduced space of the room in order to provide the maximum of space for each activity to take part comfortably, allowing for an increase of the capacity to have guests over and, therefore, improve socialization and self-expression.
