new transit buses during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday, July 23 at the El Monte Metrolink Station. The clean-burning compressed natural gas buses will begin service Aug. 1 for a fare $.50 and will provide local transit service Monday through Saturday within El Monte’s five color-coded routes (Red, Blue, Yellow, Green and Orange Routes). The new buses will replace the current buses which have been in service since 2003. El Monte city council and staff officials welcomed local residents to the ribboncutting ceremony by offering free trolley tokens and a chance to explore the new buses up close. “In 2015, over half a million passengers were transported via El Monte’s local
transit system,” said Elaine Jeng, El Monte’s Director of Public Works and Utilities. “El Monte is growing and it is our job to ensure that

Innovative Kranz Student Builds Bicycle Built for Four by Michele Earle El Monte
If you look around the streets El Monte you might catch a glimpse of classic Volkswagen Bus pedaling down the street. The replica of the VW bus is actually a bicycle built for 4 created by Kranz Intermediate School student, Elemy Vite.
