El Monte Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Housing Community, Rowland Gardens by Valerie Martinez El Monte

Past or Current Resident

After a decade of planning and development, officials from the City of El Monte and Shining Rowland Company, LLC joined together in a Sept. 15 ceremony to break ground on Rowland Gardens, a new 71-unit luxury residential complex that will feature a rooftop garden and children’s playgrounds. Occupying a 3-acre lot off of Rowland Avenue between Valley Boulevard and Bessie Avenue, Rowland Gardens will feature 5 two-story

Spanish-style townhomes, 16 three-story contemporary-style townhomes and 50 contemporary-style threestory condos over a twolevel basement garage. “It has been a long journey for us to get to this point, but I am excited for what we have in store for the citizens of El Monte,” Economic Development Director Minh Thai said. “This project will not only provide much-needed housing for our current and future residents but will enhance the aesthetics of our residential communities.” Bordering Eaton Wash, the Rowland Gardens community will feature an array of amenities, including a rooftop garden, BBQ areas and children’s playgrounds. “The real treasure is here in El Monte,” said Henry Chiao, president of Shining Rowland Company, LLC.
