Mind team attended the Los Angeles Basin Odyssey of the Mind Regional Tournament at San Marino High School. Forty-four teams from the Los Angeles basin and surrounding areas attended the competition. Each team had to choose one of the five problems offered and provide a creative solution. The teams were judged on three levels; an eight minute program outlined in the problem, the style in which it was presented and a spontaneous problem solved at the competition. Oak had two teams participate this year and the “Aesop Gone Viral” team placed second in their division and advanced to the State level competition on April 2 at the University of

The Lexington Lodge No.104, Free and Accepted Masons of California, are continuing to support local public schools within the El Monte area. E. Clarke Moseley, the current Master or President of Lexington Lodge (founded in 1865) stated, “Every April, the Masons of California and communities throughout the state celebrate Public Schools Month. Together we can make a profound difference for public education.” In El Monte, Freemasonry supports two initiatives for Public Schools Month: the “U.S. Government Essay Contest” benefiting graduating 8th grade students from Durfee School, and the “Raising a Kindergartener to Read” program benefiting kindergarten students from
