On a wet and cold day in December 2012, 35 eager golfers aged between 7 and 13 entered the yearend competition with brothers, sisters and parents acting as caddies and supporters.
The under 13’s was the main event for the day and the main trophy went to our grade 5 superstar in the making, Stephan Alberts. He scored an excellent 35 on the 9 holes. The impressive part was the fact that he needed to make par on the last hole to secure the trophy and executed his plan to play safe and then chip and putt for the par to win to perfection.
In the u9’s category Wayne le Roux won in a playoff against Justin Hatting after both finished the Midfield course on an excellent score of 41 over the 9 holes. Watch out for these two future stars as they are only 8 years old, love their golf, and shoot excellent scores with lots of pars and even a few birdies popping out.
A special word of congratulations to Nel Potgieter for crowning a great golf year by being awarded Junior North Gauteng School Colours in golf in his final year at Midstream Primary School.
