It’s goodbye to the Kington Chronicle and hello to the MidBorder News. We are expanding to cover the towns of Presteigne and Knighton, thus the need for a new name. The Mystery Prize goes to Wendy Cole, who came up with Border News, which we thought needed just a tweak to be the perfect name. Well done Wendy! She wins… well, it’s a mystery. Thank you to all those who put forward name suggestions, there weren’t even any rude ones.
Spring Walking Weekend Back by popular demand, Kington Walks are once again staging a Spring Walking Weekend from 24th – 26th April to give everyone an opportunity to experience the countryside at a different time of year to our main September Festival. Think daffodils, bluebells, wood anemones, lambs, trees in bud and blossom. There are 16 walks available including some old favourites such as Hergest Croft Gardens, the Glorious Wye, the Three Hewitts and the Wild Birds of Hergest Ridge. We are also tackling the 34 mile Arrow Valley Trail over two days, which follows the Arrow from its source to where it joins the River Lugg at Leominster, and for the first time we have a Mindfulness walk. Full details and bookings are available on our website www.kingtonwalks.org and the brochure with booking form is available from a number of local establishments. The walks book up quickly so make sure you don’t delay. We look forward to welcoming old friends and new to this ever-popular weekend.
